I don't see why you didn't just go an extra step further and use another synth and attach an lfo's cv output to the freq cv on your efc?!
Granted a little freehand knob control can add unique moments in the song but overall you can use the tools and features on other synths to help you with automation such as lfos. Even tying the freq cv to a matrix sequencer can help you achieve these desired effects.
You lie! 0:25 lol ok ok seriously, this is fkn awesome...I've even got a hang of automation...just stuck at the right notes to use. But I'll figure it out. Awesome tutorial.
you need to play at a higher octave.... stay away from normal bass territory... i played it at C5 and got the same exact sound.. wonderful tutorial bro ... thumbs up !
The reason your sound doesnt sound like his is simple. The track that the uploader plays is not the same project as where he shows you how he made this sound. If you notice the meters are not runing for the scream or anything else when he plays it. What he is playing is probably the complete track with some mastering already done, and wobbles added. It really is a multi stage process.
Hey, uploader, you forgot to tell the people out there to initialize the patch on both scream units!!!
Not trying to be a pest but I followed your steps closely and came out with a different sound, then went back and realize you had your patch initialized and I didn't
Another easy way to modulate the ECF freq is to hook up the thor LFO2 CV (from the back) to the Freq CV of the EFC then link up the rate of LFO 2 (on the front) to a spare nob on a combinator.
I find it kind of funny that, as pro as these guys are who make these reason tutorials, nobody seems to know that you can set up the preferences so that every new synth comes in initialised ^^
The thing that sucks about this, is that all of you have the exact same sound as this guy has, big deal, now there's a thousand of you with the exact same sound, you might as well just go listen to Rusko because none of you actually know how to make dubstep now, you just know how to make yourself sound like Rusko o.o i dunno, just seems redundant
To the people who didn't get the bass to sound right:
pay attention to what he DOES instead of what he says. Make sure your patches look EXACTLY like his do (for example when he creates his distortion patches, they come up initialized...make sure you initialize the distortion patches before changing parameters and such) Happy Steppin =D
i did this tutorial to see what you guys are banging on about, after like 5 mins of tweaking i got the same sound, if not a more dynamic one... But even without the tweaking it sounded pretty spot on. Also, i don't know why u guys want the exact same sound anyway.. dubstep has always about experimentation.
Brand new to reason. The part around 8:40 where you're showing the frequencies in lines going up and down (square like) how do you write those lines like that? Any help is appreciated.
@Brendonmcgovern this might help... mine sounded like a chainsaw at first too, but this may be because you're playing it in the wrong octave. For me it sounds good played a minimum of an octave above middle C, not in normal bass territory.
i dont see why everyones having trouble with this synth. the only problem i had was the sub bass in the next vid didnt wobble right so you just put another envelope controlled filter on it and do the wobbles the same way as the lead. make sure you play notes between C4 and C6 to not have machine gun since the octaves in thor are so low. simple as that bra
@thestarshavefallen I got that machinegun sound first, then raised the octave, didn't change much. But I found out that if you bypass FX on the combinator, record a song and then put all FX back in, it sounds almost exactly like the synth you heard at the beginning.
