  • Angel's cute for a certoon

  • @Me2times

Indeed, she has been one of my cartoon crushes since i was 12 when i saw this on TBS.

  • is it just me or is Dizzy the only one that's animated really well in that movie? plus he being like the only smart one beside Angel...lol

  • i love this movie

  • I remember seeing it as a kid in secret, since my parents hated it. Though I get why in retrospect, man it was a good film.

  • Thx for the upload.

  • Good god that voice!...thx for posting.

  • this movie needs a Blu Ray release... :/

  • @sandypandyness it has one

  • @sandypandyness

from what I've heard they already did

  • Loved Rock and Rule since i was 12 18 years ago when i saw it on TBS with Heavy Metal, Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, Twilight of the Cockroaches and American Pop as they were the coolest animated movies i've seen. Angel was a total knock-out!

  • @Johnlindsey289 Hahah I remember Twilight of the Cockroaches!!!

  • Had so much fun watching this as a kid.

  • Thank you so very much for uploading this!

  • Where the hell did you get a studio version of this song?

  • so they re-issue the movie on a double dvd (the 2nd dvd is a more uncut version with a different person playing Omar) and why couldn't they have at least put the soundtrack on a cd and put it in the package? i really REALLY hate it when you cannot find old soundtracks to movies. like how hard is it? i've been looking for years and decades for this soundtrack on LP. nothing. so, was it even released?

and i hope the version with Robin Zander is also on here (somewhere)

  • @PrankZabba a soundtrack was sadly never released. I'm still pulling my hair out trying to find the Zander version in a higher quality. :(

  • when some jackass comes along and thinks about covering this.....do you think it will be this one or the duet-finalie?....

  • Both the music and animation of the movie this is from are classic; the stuff nowadays cannot measure up. Thanks for posting this.

  • My favorite song wish I had it on my iPod

  • i really love this song it's sweet. the movie is very cool too :).

  • Where did you get a copy of the original studio recording? How can I get a copy?

  • I totally wore out VHS copy of this flick! It's my favorite movie ever!!!!!

  • If I can sing it up, I can sing it back.

  • very underatted film, I remember midnight showings at my local movie place. The theater was always packed. Too bad we couldn't get the soundtrack with the dvd release. ahhh the days of hand drawn animation.

  • To any fan of the film, music or both - Check out the "Rock and Rule Homepage" which has been up for, like, 10 years or more, or something like that.

  • Someone posted Rock and Rule Finale (Send Love Through), the duet. Sweet

  • @Nixter69er Where?

  • I have this movie on Vhs tape. Wow.

  • this is beautiful and fantastic~!! i NEED to own and see this movie!

  • This is incredible. I thought this video was gone for good. Man, where or how can I get a copy of this?!?!?

  • @JesD79 There's lots of places online to get it. There's the Rock & Rule (Special Edition) in DVD and I think the Collector's edition is in Blu-ray... not sure. Both, I think, are two disc sets with the versions released in Canada and the one in the States. I actually just finished watching the film with the director's comments, which is also there. WHAT I THINK SO MUCH OF US WOULD LIKE IS THE SOUNDTRACK!

  • where did you get this?? o_o

  • Awesome! It's back up! This is such a great video.

  • YAY! I just found this today. Thank you SO MUCH for posting. Where did you get this??

  • Was there ever a recording of the duet version where she's singing with Robin, from the end of the movie?

  • You can listen to it on bomb-mp3.com

  • Anyone know exactly when this came out? I think this is oler than me but this animation is still more advanced than the Smurfs.

I still like it though, its different and edgy.

  • @DoubtfulGrace THe Movie came out in the 80's and was re-released on dvd abput three years ago

  • I would kill to have the duet of this *sniff*

anybody now's where i can find it?????

  • thank you for making this vid! I love it! the editing is awesome! do you know if it's possible to download " send love through" ? the duet version at the end?

  • Just watched this movie, man it was awesome! I can't believe I never heard of it before, even if it is way before my time. The animation and music was spectacular!

  • for peyton manning

  • My favorite track from Rock and Rule. I think I was in the 5th grade when I first saw this. lol Thanks for posting this.

  • I checked this movie out from the library a few days ago. I just got around to watching it. The animation is severely dated, after all it came out in '83. Anyway, the music was great!!! Deborah Harry's voice is like pussycum on my tongue mmmmmmmm...so soothing and silky...

  • Great edit job! Yeah there was never an OFFICIAL soundtrack released. We're lucky the 3 Cheap Trick songs were released on a CD from them.

I don't know for sure but this must've been from an "unedited" movie mixing track someone got their hands on. It's great to hear, but would've been perfect with a lead guitar.

Since this movie is so music heavy it's a shock there was never an ALBUM. Even it the movie wasn't a blockbuster, companies usually put out albums before a movie release.

  • oh my god FURRIES....

  • this has the same melody as "Maybe for sure" from the Def, Dumb and Blonde cd.

  • @skottywayne that's because debbie harry recycled the melody for that track. that said, great song

  • Evil spelled backwards is live, and we all wanna do that, right?

  • Saw this on "Radio 1990" in 1982 and just cried & cried at how beautiful it was - and still is. One of my fave songs ever.

  • I love this old movie. I own it on DVD.

  • does anyone know where i could download this song?

  • angel is so hot i want to fuck her nice and slow

  • they did okay now im searching

  • this shit was made at the end of generation y,wierd because i was born in generation z,i just paid close attention to stories emotions and just anything from gen y, i dont know ne1 my age remmembers what it feels like from that age,i cannot express how it feels, thank u to those who know who i'm speaking of

  • Fantastic, almost forgotten gem of a film.

  • Are there any live performances of this tune?

  • I loved Angel's song.

  • For the fans this was released on DVD a few years back. You can get it on Amazon. It has both the original that aired on CBC (though it's not in great quality since the original was lost in a fire I hear) as well the later edition where they revoiced Omar.

A beautifully done movie that was a huge inspiration to me growing up.

  • I have it, and it kicks. It's always so sad when things like that are lost forever.

  • Very nice editing!

  • one of the greatest animated and under rated films ever made. R&RULE 4EVER!!!! P.S. what is the official name of this song?

  • Sent love through.

  • Send love through.

  • this is one of my favorite animated movies of all time. great music, artwork, everything. funny as hell at some parts. a truly great film never given its dues.

  • Yup, it is on that album. "Maybe for Sure". It's not exactly the same but definitely similar melody...

  • No it's not on that album. Doubtful it'll ever get released barring a 200 million signature petition

  • I remember this movie. I saw this on Showtime back in the day. Hopefully I can cop it on DVD.

  • A great song from what I believe is the greatest feature length animated feature.

  • This movie STILL kicks ass today! :)

  • Comment removed

  • This song gives me chills every time I hear it.

    Thx jrels.

  • This Song Kicks ASS.......Always has.

  • was there a different version of the song? if so what was it called?

  • Debbie used the same melody in a song called "Maybe for Sure"...

  • I've been told that, but I can't find that anywhere

  • I'm almost positive it's on her "Def Dumb & Blonde" album. Haven't heard it in years. I could be wrong.

  • That's it. The song is titled "Maybe for Sure".

  • wonderful, thank you very much!!!

  • This was a great movie, I wish they would make a second part . Thank you for making this video.

  • ah, memories! i still laugh that it was sponsored by the CBC

  • good memories here!!!!

  • oh what will the signal be, for your eyes desieve me.... i forgot the rest! :D

  • "For your eyes to SEE me" not deceive.

  • I just made this my ringtone! This song is enchanting.

  • "f I can sing it up, I can sing it back."

  • didnt like the film too much but i like the soundtrack especially this song :¬D

  • it grows on you, thanks to the songs. If you watch it again, you'll be surprised how much better it is.

  • Robin Zander, "Send Love Through: Finale", msn music.

  • lol! i own this movie on DVD!

  • LMFAO!

This vid is exactly 4 minutes and 20 seconds long.

    I'm so stoned.

    Rock-n-Rule 4 Ever!

    \m/

  • Love this song and the version of it at the end of the movie is pure awesome. I'd donate what organs I could spare for a girl to be my true love for all time that;s like Angel.... *sigh*

  • does anyone know where i could get the song?

  • The soundtrack, I'd guess. The movies songs were all mostly original tracks made just for the film.

  • Was there ever a soundtrack album? I think the closing credits originally mentioned such an album, but I think the commercial failure of the film (largely as a result of being buried by the distributor) resulted in the album being cancelled.

  • i read somewhere it was burned in a fire..i cold be mistaken....

  • That's the actual original master print of the movie you're talking about. That's why it took it so long to come out on DVD (and why it had been out of print on VHS for so long): they had to track down prints that were in good enough condition that they could be used. Then they had to clean up the prints, something that required lots of money and the latest video technology.

But I think the recordings of the songs still exist though.

  • Debbie Harry released "Maybe for Sure" as a single in the UK in 1990 (you may be able to track down a CD single). The track was also on the Deborah Harry album "Def, Dumb & Blonde" (1989). NB - Lyrics are different in both cases. The CD single has more of a rock feel to it than the album version.

  • oh ok thank you for your help

  • they sold a limited edition cd of Rock and Rule's soundtrack in 2008, you could prob find it on ebay.

  • thanks i'll look it up on ebay then.

  • It was not the real soundtrack by a long shot. It was comprised of the full version mp3's of this and my name is mok (which I uploaded on my site years ago), Cheap Trick songs from Sex America, and the rest were sampled directly from the movie.

  • wasn't this song redone by her but titled "maybe for sure"

  • I have never heard this song, but I love it, well to tell u the truth, I love all Debbie Harry songs!!!

  • I have never heard this song until now, wow! Debbie's voice sounds so good. Debbie can make a cartoon sexy!

  • where're you been. this songs been around for a looong time.

  • The soundtrack was "lost" in a fire at Nelvana studios. However, many of the original artists have their own unreleased copies.

  • how can there be no soundtrack?! someone do something...rip of a dvd or something

  • I was OBSESSED with this as a teen... I would go through the HBO guide and mark when it was going to be on and stay up to watch it every time it came on.... this song is mesmerizing!!! Where can you get this nowdays???

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I could find the soundtrack

  • some one put the movie back on

  • classic movie! a gem

  • The song *Send Love Through* the finale version with Robin Zander harmonizing is on msn music. I cant get it cuz all I got is this shitty cellphone! If anyone has it please post it.

  • song fits the movie. it rocks and rules

  • I used to drop acid and watch this movie about 15 years ago. I thought i was the only person who knew about this GREAT cartoon.

  • haha... classic

  • I can't say enough good things about this movie and this song, they're both awsome! I hope the film finds a significant audience on DVD.

  • Why was this movie deleted?

  • This movie was awesome! I loved Angel in this. Especially Debby Harry as Angle's singing voice!

  • i love her voice ...who sings this song??

  • Debbie Harry

  • I love this movie and the music! Reminds me of being little and singing along with my cousins and family. Very good times. SO NOSTALGIC!

  • Maybe just for sure

  • Debbie and Robin... great casting. We need a sound track and DVD.

  • heh i grew up watching this on tape with my mom i looooove this song^^

  • Does anyone have the guitar chords for this song?

  • This is basically MAYBE FOR SURE, which is on Debbie's album DEF, DUMB & BLONDE (1989).

  • only this version is better

  • i agree. i watched this movie while it was still in parts on youtube. as much as i wanted to like it i didn't think it was terribly good. however it has some great animation and this song is terrific, i never forgot it and i'll never forget it.

  • This was the *original* version. Maybe For Sure was an adaptation of Angel's Song, using the same music with rewritten lyrics.

It's really too bad they could never manage to get the soundtrack released. But at least we have the DVD!

  • Great song, fun movie. I wish it was longer. Perfect voice for Angel. She is my favorite female toon. I'd "dabble in watercolors" with her anytime :)

The movie is 25 years old and it needs to be reintroduced to the world.

I have the two disc dvd. Get it while its still available!

  • I would really like to know the lyrics... can anybody help me?

  • It WAS on NIGHT FLIGHT. I recorded it onto

    a cassette.

This movie was made in Canada,1983. Isn't it

    still unrelased?

Don't remember this sequence. That means, that

Deborah Harry sung the song TWICE in the movie?

The other time, this melody opens a hole into

    the fourth dimension...

  • As jrels83 says, the song is the uncut version from the studio recording, and the movie clips were edited to synch up with it.

The whole Blondie version of the song isn't heard in the movie, but two sections of it are heard, first in the audition scene, then when Angel and the boys are driving to Mok's estate.

  • So far beyond its time. I grew up watching this. For a good 5 years my nickname was Omar. Debbie Harry is the #1 female rock and roll voice of all time. Sorry Grace, you were phenomenal but Blondie (wink wink)was just a little better.

  • Good to see this movie is finally getting the respect it deserves. I have an old VHS copy and the remastered DvD and a bootleg copy of both films. See how many allusions to rock stars can you count?

  • Rock and Rule rocks and rules. It's why they called it that.

  • This song fucking rocks. D:

  • Awesome!

  • Who' hotter, Angel or Noodle? And who sings better?

  • Tough call. Angel is an animal, but Noodle is only a kid, so you're dealing with two perversions there.....

  • best song of the movie

  • awesome!

  • amazing movie. love it so much.

  • love this movie to death

  • I loved this movie. Took me years to track down a copy.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I pray for the day when the soundtrack is FINALLY released.

  • you and me both, dude. I'm trying so hard to find the songs from this movie. I find hot dogs & sushi to be pretty much impossible to find, save for recording it from the movie itself v_v

  • You didn't happen to find Dance, Dance, Dance, did you? I don't think it's ever been released anywhere, and it's not on the DVD in full without voices over it.

  • That song is played in full during the end credits anyway, isn't it? If not, I'm pretty sure I have it.

The only other ones I have that haven't been released are My Name is Mok, Pain & Suffering

  • No, in the credits it fades in halfway through the song. I actually spent quite a while trying to find a full recording of it... I heard that it may have been on Night Flight in full, but that's like 20 years before my time... If you have the full song, I'd love to hear it.

  • Her name was Taarna, the warrior from Heavy Metal. She was the orignial Xena. ha ha

  • I love this movie o.o;

  • Who cares if she's a mutated rat-humanoid? Great body, great hair, great tits and ass. She looks nothing like the rats I see in the NYC subway.

  • The name of the song is "send love through" but normally know as "angel's song". I was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid. I still have the comic book adaptation of the movie. I used to draw them all the time. And Mondo, you do realize that Angel is part human and part rat? Still want to have sex with her?

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • actually she's a full mutated rat! ^.^

  • I thought she was a cat.

  • According to the DVD release interviews, Rock and Rule is an expanded remake of "The Devil and Daniel Mouse" - She's definitely a mouse-girl

  • Interesting. Well, then she's the mouse that roared! There's also more then a hint of "The Phantom of the Opera" in the tale, though Erik always had more class than old Mok.

  • "More THAN a hint," that should have been.

  • I want to have sex with her. She's the hottest animated female I've ever seen.

  • Er...she's a mouse...into beastiality are we?

Hottest animated females: I vote for

    1) Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit)

    2) Holli Would (Cool World)

  • YES YES YES!!!!!

  • Holly Wood was pretty cool...but lets forget that chick from the last story of "Heavy Metal".

  • Let's NOT forget her!

  • I would add Fujiko Mine from "Lupin III."

  • Good vid. What's the name of this song though?

  • do you have the song when she sings with a male in this song

  • i do and its called "send love through"

  • I was working as a manager at a Gamestop when one of my employees brough the DVD movie in for credit. I paid him cash for it. I would KILL to find copies of the soundtrack. Especially extended mixes.

  • where, exactly, did you find this? I've been looking everywhere.
