Okay first the 'history' : Basically the song tells the girl's point of view about how from being her father's little girl she has now grown up and moved onto a new life with her (she seems to be wearing bangles typically worn by brides) husband. And though at the beginning of the song she sings about her love, the rest of the song is based on a Punjabi wedding folk ditty - she talks about leaving her father's house and stepping into a new strange one.

Sorry, i thought she was wearing bangles like that but she's not. But in the end when she introduces the guy she does say what I think looks like 'My husband'... so I guess I'm right to think she's married (prob without telling her dad about it) :)
