Thanks for posting this with the wiki info about this galop. My 550 playlists include one for every year since 1900, but I'm working my way back further. Thanks for helping me start the 1844 list! Chuck
it is a great piece however after a few years playing it, it does get a tiresome, however it is great for getting the crowd up, and it is used for many musical jokes.
I was at one concert, where the band used, a toilet, a hose pipie, an old kettle as well as the posthorn. it was great!
its the Royal Lancers Band, an amalgamation of 16/5 Royal lancers and the 9/12 Royal Lancers. I was at the final performance of the 9/12L Band in Herford in the Cinema in Wentworth Barracks. a very sad and moving performance. The received numerouse Encors and standing ovations. Scouse beacall ex - 9/12 Royal Lancers 1988 - 2004.
Linking the 2 bits, the 9th and 12th Royal Lancers Had a welcome home from Irac in March 2009. The Uniforms are NOT dead a couple of them were dressed in the old ceremonial uniforms and ALL were dressed in No1's, carrying Lances Not guns! It was a great sight to see.
Superb musicianship (and showmanship) but then what else would you expect from a British Military Band (the best in the World Bar None).
Leicester till I die - Yes - The regiments badge is after all A TIGER
Das englische Posthorn ist bekanntlich nicht gekrümmt. Ich frage mich gerade, ob es diese gerade Form auch in anderen Ländern gegeben hat. Allgemein wird auf den Postzeichen ein gebogenes Horn dargestellt.
This must be one of the last concerts the band of the Royal Lancers did before it was downsized into the Heavy Cavalry & Cambrai band in 2006. The uniform was stunning and the last remnant of the Lancer bands in the British army

@picaticatara You can get these horns on eBay. Look also at Amati, Cerveny and Lidl's brass instrument sites under "signal horns".
