  • I grew up in Mobile, Alabama, where tump was a common word. However, I never heard it even in north Alabama or in other parts of the South where I've lived.

  • lol I say tump all the time. I never realized it wasn't commonplace until I joined the Army and people had no idea what I was talking about.

And aye, we call them daddy long legs in Scotland, big ugly looking things :)

    love yer accent :D

  • Very accurate pronunciations of all those words for an Alabamian! Also, I'm glad you mentioned "tump." Your accent is not very pronounced while you're just speaking, but with those individual words it's definitely Alabamian. Some people around here also say "crawldads." But you'd NEVER hear "crayfish" in Alabama. :)

  • "Route" = rowt. I thought that was only Canadian.

  • @Syllenae

  • @grantdarga Stalk much?

  • This is an Alabama Accent.. I have a similar accent being born and raised in Birmingham, but mine is not quite as pronounced, however when we speak and then record ourselves often we don't realize just how we *really* sound.

I think the accent is fine if people don't mumble -- as it is the lack of vocabulary and lazy speech that tends to give any accent a negative connotation.

  • n_n

  • I say that sweetheart but I say it a lot more slower than you, so what accent is that and you like excited so. I just wanna know allright well bye,bye
