I don't know if it's necessarily that she isn't playing a sympathy game with them it's more that she induces what she likes to call the "rock bottom moment" that leads to the epihany to know where they are, why they're there, and come to the realization that they want to change themselves and move on no matter the cost. and matt, everyone is different but people know now when they sign up for this show after so many years they know what to expect from her. But I think some of it is editing.

Jillian is only mean because she wants to see them get the results they want. If you were smart you'd realize that. Kim the blonde trainer didn't last coz she didn't give a rats about them and Bob just picks the heaviest people so he can beat Jillian. I think she's the best trainer. She may come across as mean, but she's really only doing it so they get results, and she is the kindest of them all actually.

i wouldn't say that she negatively reinforces them. she never belittles them or calls them fat or lazy, etc. she may get in their face and push them to their limits when they think they can't go anymore but she doesn't say to them "you can't do it bc your fat and lazy and worthless." and it may seem like she tears them down but it's only to build them back up in a positive light. she also does it so they can get to some of the deeper reasons why the gained the weight in the first place.

why don't they have an actual bathroom in the gym instead of those little porta-potties? i think that would make the contestants feel a lot more comfortable especially if they're having issues like that haha and ps you ever notice how jillian seems to like use many words just to describe one thing that could suffice just having one word? she speaks like she's writing a paper that has to be a certain amount of words. she's too funny!!!

the point is avoiding to make them feel comfortable, these people are (and not because of their weight, but because of their attutide) lazy, fragile, unflexible, unadaptable and were clearly spoiled smoothered kids by borgeois snob parents.... having to deal with pushing their limites, adatpting to uncomfortable and tough situations is what they need to be happier stronger people with an happier life

@OvoPiano I'm well aware that these contestants need to be pushed out of the their comfort zones in order to break through into stronger happier selves but I don't think it's necessary for them to be forced to use porta-potties to do that. Pushing in the gym seems sufficient to me, but if it's something that helps in changing their attitude then by all means. I just think it would be nicer for them to have real bathrooms especially when they have the runs haha

but living in an unconfortable condition without comforts, do have positive effects on one's attitude. It's the same reason why camping and backpacking are considered positive for forging one's character (or the boyscouts) The point is learning to feel secure, confident, happy and fulfilled even without commodities, easy solutions and comforts. The benefit is learning to be adaptable and adaptation is the most important skill in surviving. Imo
