  • F# minor, most rock and roll key of all time \m/

  • sublime..

  • She's amazing...!

  • How can you slow down on that Prelude? It's intoxication kind of moves itself...

  • Angela Hewitt makes Bach a god.

  • Slooooww down on the prelude!

  • I am currently working on this piece and it is an absolutely joy to learn. I love it!! =)

  • Well Hewitt is the only one who uses so much trills in the fugue, and have ultilised powerfully.

  • Merveilleuse et extraordinaire sensibilité ! Quel bonheur de vous écouter (et de vous regarder). Merci Madame Hewitt (et SoliDeoGloria8550).

  • Of all of the fugues I've heard from Bach, this one is my favorite

  • Something about Bach always keeps me coming back haha. Chopin is my absolute favorite, but I think Bach is now my second. His counterpoint is fun to listen to. His music just sounds so playful :-)

    Great work Ang!

  • Haha I like your name! 12 root of 2 is mathematically equivocal to 1 semitone in frequency, very nice :) Also I completely agree about Chopin and Bach however I think Alkan would definately come up somewhere around there too for me! :)

  • That is correct! I don't think many people catch on to that. I'll need to check out Alkan then! Thanks.

  • i want to hear her playing the liszt's don juan......

  • a wonderful version of Bach's WTC, this pianist knows how to enter magically and intense at the same time in Johann Sebastian's world

  • Angela Hewitt plays Bach with the presence, softness and with great musicality. I have not heard about her until recently.

I do not think it is right to compare the Hewitt with Gould, Parahia or other major pianists. It is the question of taste and temperament. I definitely listen more to Hewitt in the future.

  • I like her prelude better than Gould's version. It's more fluid and graceful.

  • Irelandlass7789- you might say "in my opinion, hers is more fluid and graceful." To which I would say, "which Gould recording?" Because Gould never played a composition the same way twice. He was forever innovating and searching for a more "perfect" one.

I hate it when people compare the work of great artists because each one is so very different. I would also hate to be stuck listening to one version or one artist for the rest of my life. Each has their own merit. Vive la difference.

  • I saw her play a couple weeks ago, she was amazing :-)

  • Thanks for posting these. Angela Hewitt is one of my favorite Bach performers !

  • Mine as well; yes, thanks a great deal. :)
