They can't. You have to know more about the individual. Even if he hides his identity, you may still be able to justify giving him your trust based on what he says and does. Even then, you might still be betrayed.

I think there will come a time where Anonymous will become the represenatives of the people. At this point in history where civil disobedience is treated as violent revolutions, the hacking end of Anonymous will be the strongest tool in revolution. A full worldwide change is in order, shouldn't it be the job of Anonymous to become the voice for an idea. When that happens leadership will arise and hopefully a well thought out and regulated one.
