@aaaaflasd Eeeuuh.. ?!? What are you saying?... In this video we're talking of a civic Si... not about a chipped Cummins from a RAM 2500... The Vtec kicks at 6000 rpm and then you get the power...and if you want your next gear to hit the Vtec, you need to floor the pedal up to 8500. If the power of this car would be at 3-4000, the vtec would kicks at 3000.. so you're saying the vtec is useless on this car...?
@moichtunrealman noo. I'm not saying vtec is useless in this car. I'm saying when you shift up gears you want to shift at 4000 because you get the most power outta there
@moichtunrealman Peak power is 7800rpm, which means that's where you should shift. However, given how quickly the engine revs, shifting at 8k rpm is more realistic, and it's also when the shift light comes on. Since these cars have a close ratio 6 speed transmission, you will still stay in the correct powerband by shifting at 8k rpm. Also, "powershifting" is not good for the transmission on these cars.
@locosway ...so..yeah..you're saying the same thing. My friend have one of these SI, a 2006 with a K&N Typhoon (oh and by the way.. THIS SHIT SOUNDS AS HELL so an advice to all of those who own this car : if you want to hear that V-tec kick...get one quick this is crazy..) and he's flooring it almost all the time. And when I looked closely the RPM while he was shifting at 8300-8500, the engine hit 6K right on V-tec. That's all what I wanted to say but I totally agree with you and your numbers.
@moichtunrealman Yes, vtech is from 6k and up, but the engine makes it's most power at 7800rpm, so waiting to shift is not giving you more power, it's given you less. The engine past it's peak power is now working against itself. I always see these "ricers" bouncing off the rev limiter and I have no idea why. Shift at the peak power output of the engine, and you're faster.
@locosway And by the way what you said about powershifting with this car is totally true. I agree that Honda has some trouble with the transmission ''synhcros''. My friend is always grinding when powershifting from 1 to 2...To avoid this problem, he need to wait a little before shifting cause the revolution of this engine decreases very slowly.. :(.. but overall : very nice car.. in my opinion.
@moichtunrealman Powershifting meaning not letting off the throttle when shifting. I have no idea where that driving style came from, but it's not used in any racing that I know of. Even if you're running a racing transmission you're blipping the throttle when changing gears. These aren't race cars, they're street cars that are a little tuned. Losing 1/10 of a second in the 1/4 mile is not going to be the end of the world.

You get the most power out of your car at 3-4000 RPM. No need to rev it up to the redline if you want the most acceleration out of your car.

@locosway ...you're right. Some of idiots like the sound of the limiter......but they don't know there's a reason why they put a limiter on cars XD.

Wow, you know you dont have to hit the rev limiter everytime you shift... FS for fail shifter.
the exhaust also sounds stupid. put an exhaust on it.
