Okay. I have a question. I'm pursuing my bachelors degree at DeVry for Business, but my passion is writing and filmmaking. Should I continue attending Devry if I have a passion for writing and filmmaking? Does it make sense to keep pursuing a degree from DeVry when my passions lie elsewhere?
@agentbl Ultimately, only u can make a decision about where u attend school, but judging from ur comments, u r 20K in debt & studying something for which u have little passion & interest at a "college" of questionable reputation. Perhaps a change is warranted in this case.
@typhoidX Maybe you're right. A change maybe warranted. Lately I've been getting alot of emails about film school. One email keeps repeating the same thing "Become the next Speilberg." Maybe this is fate's way of telling me to follow my passion and go to film school. But to tell you the truth, I've been studying filmmaking on my own. And I've read lots of articles that said that some filmakers didn't even go to film school. And what do you mean by "questionable reputation?"
@agentbl "Questionable reputation" means a school has the stigma of being a over-valued degree mill w/o any admissions standards, & willing to take any automaton for the sake of using them as a vehicle to profit off of fed. student loans. Watch the documentary "College Inc" & u'll see what "questionable reputation" means. Also, check out sites like "Ripoff report" & "Pissed Consumer"; search for the school u r considering, if there are complaints against them, beware.
For those who are thinking about attending this so-called DeVry "university", check out the PBS documentary "College, Inc", before committing thousands of your hard-earned dollars.
@typhoidX I wish I would had done that. but then again, I was 18 and at that time, I felt like I was doing the right choice. And because other ppl were telling me to go to college. And since I was naive and learning disabled. I had though that by the time I graduated, that I will a job right away. and everythnig will be alright. Yeah right. But I'm glad I found out about this money mill before I stayed in fucked myself into more debt. I feel so sorry for my friends and those otehr ppl that are.
And that's only if you finish in 3 years!! I took them to California small claims court and won a $6500. judgment against them, but they still refuse to pay and they are holding my transcript hostage which has brought my education to a complete standstill. There has been many class action suits against them. AVOID Devry University. Go to a real college. Especially here in California we have the best community and state college system in the country. Use it!!
I attended Devry for a single semester. I realized in the second week when the bills started to arrive that something was not right. They quoted me $50, 000-$60, 000. for a 3-year bachelors program but at over $10, 000. per semester for full time at Devry, the math does not make sense!! $30, 000/Year x 3 years = $90, 000.
I have actually attended Devry and their Graduate School Keller. Trust me when I say that it is a joke. DO NOT GO THERE. Their financial aid department is crooked. I actually sued them and they offered to settle. This is the reason why there is no class action suits because they settle ALL LAWSUITS. I chose not to settle and won my case. I can send you the settlement documents if you dont believe me. Email me @ RnBsinger75@gmail.com.
