  • I can't seem to find the link that you mentioned you're going to show us how the dog walks with beside you on the left? Did you post the video? Thanks

  • hello i have a rottweiler puppy and i was wonder if there is something i should be doing different with a Rottweiler thanks.

  • @thatdude692011

I watched another movie about heeling on utube and it said that "back in the day" hunters always carried their guns on the right so their dogs went on the left to avoid being shot.

  • what treats are best to use for training from your experience.. my dobie seems not to care so much for treats. she responds to my commands at home, but she completely ignores me when outside.

  • why do you want the dog to heel to your left side, is there a reason or just preference?

  • yes u r the best trainner i have here so Thanks lot

    From:Kuwait

  • why left?

  • @vaughan4082 cause ''long time ago'' people would cary their guns on the right and the dogs would be on the other side to not get shot.

  • Great. I'm going to look up your site to see other training techniques.

  • does it matter if should train to heal on the left or right?

  • theres a 95% chance i get a labrador retriever this friday, so im going to use your videos!!!

  • Thanks....I'm more comfortable with my dog on my right hand side. Why does it have to be the left?

  • Hi, you didn't use the command "heel" but "fuss". Do you use German commands?

  • great. thanks alot for uploading

  • One source says that hunting dogs and guard dogs walked on the left side so the hunter or

soldier could carry and use his gun in his right hand. Whatever the reason, your dog must

heel on your left side for obedience competition. But in agility (an obstacle course for dogs),

it's very helpful if your dog knows how to walk and run beside you on EITHER side. So

agility people teach their dog an additional phrase

  • Why is heel on the left side. Can I teach my dog to heel on the right?

  • You can teach heel on either side. I teach on the left so when I walk along side roads she's on the inside. Of course you can teach it on either side, it doesn't really matter, just pick a side and stick to it!

  • Around the world, dogs heel on the left and horses on the right. If you've ever handled both at the same time (many people do), you'll find this is important. No reason you can't teach for either side. But if you show in obedience, it must be on the left.

  • @TheFelix187 yes

  • 5stars

    i love your videos

  • Interesting! I always find "heel" the hardest concept to teach to puppies. Your approach makes sense by making "heel" an action they can do, instead of telling the puppies to simply stop pulling on the leash.

  • oh ya and can you enlighten me ? i want to know key german words for dog training too! k luv ya

  • the word finnish to my dog means to come and sit directly in front of me. and heel is excactly what youve shown me. do you think thats okay?

  • So long as the dog obeys the commands and does what you want it to, the word doesn't matter.

  • Hello, this has helped me alot i have a whippet puppy who pulls alot she has learnt not to from your advice thanks!

  • magnifico....mabuhay..

  • Uh, no. Neither are Rottweilers or Dobermans or Pitbulls, for that matter. An untrained, unsocialized dog of any breed is what is dangerous around kids.

  • Good job. 5 stars.

  • Thank you!

  • hey great tips. I have a husky i have tryed almost everything =D

  • Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the tips. You can get a lot more information on my website: AmazingDogTrainingMan dot com.
