I'll say it again-- Waters is brilliant- without the floyd though, not the same. Someone wrote that PF is only a cover band without Waters- but when you listen to the 'cover band' post Waters- It is the Pink Floyd sound. The 'pulse' tour was absolutely awesome. Besides- Waters can't sing anyway!
Id love to see Roger Waters rewrite this to bring it up to date and to include the new Maggie Thatcher... but without the brain...Thatcher deliberately set out to devalue British workers.... Cameron doesnt even understand hes doing it... Useless bastard..
A few years ago, I watched a documentary on public television Pink Floyd. Not too much after the making of the final cut, the band had a meeting with Roger Waters and asked him if he could write about something other than war, insanity or Sid Barrett. Waters, obviously, was not too thrilled and refused. Gilmour, Wright and Mason fired Waters and the rest, as they say, was history.
@mandb97 That is complete and utter bollocks. Its all history now seeing as they get on again, but Wright got the push after The Wall. If you check the credits of The Final Cut, they were a three piece at the time. Then Waters left, and after that, Wright came back.
@beartyincognito I stand corrected, sorry. I could have sworn write said it in the PBS documentary. I did know Wright was not in the Final Cut. I had the cassette. Gilmore was also taken off the production credits. The problem seemed to be that Waters became a bit of a task master and took full control of the band. I'm not trying to knock Waters. He is truly brilliant. My one regret in life is not seeing him live.
@mandb97 Waters admits now that back then he was a miserable bastard. Its all water under the bridge though, if you excuse the half-pun. Incidently, on the off chance that you haven't yet heard it, check out his Amused To Death album. Probably the best one he did solo. I saw him on his Kaos tour. I missed the Hitchhiking tour though, which was a shame.
I still think that part 3 of this collection and that portion of the actual movie is...WEAK... and was inserted only to increase the tempo, or to mix it up a bit, those 4 minutes (25% of the movie) could have been much better served by incorporating a different track from the album (CD).
The absence of conflict, the residue of war, the rivalries and sibling conflicts that ALL of this boils down to is. . . sadly enough, FAR from over. These films may look dated, but the ghost pains of war and depravity are here and here to stay. Till we wage peace and the ability to be content instead of the desire to crush everything in our path.
yeah yeah yeah. where is this absence of conflict you speak of? i know the singer/songwriter/composer would raise an eyebrow.askant. but, what you say is true. it is far from over.
The absence of conflict is the mass of soldiers, wives, and others who go to the 'Fletcher memorial home'. Their war is over, the conflict that defined their lives is over. Here they (the players in this video) sit, breathing, eating, and thinking that so much of it is futile. This is why so many of them act out their positions of power whilst having no official rank at all. Watch this whole piece and what do you see. A play of seniors acting (or re-acting) out the past.
Awsome! A real tribute to the maniacs of past leaders who cause mayhem for political gain without morals or integrity, perhaps more relevant today than it was 25 years ago, Waters is an outstanding musical icon!

No, Galtieri, with what I assume is an Exocet missile under his arm.
