man either you have the move or not. Can you really learn to dance like that? You'll be just a bad imitation of the real thing haha Its worth enjoy watching the dude though. He is awesome :)
dance in freedom, not in laws or rules, dance in ways thats in how u feel not in how others feel, everyone has different asspects in how they move their body, no such thing as "The-Same" live it feel it express it.! - thanks for the vidoe as well :)
This video is filled with awesome moves...you and Doris can really tear it up. I'm teaching myself house dancing using videos like this one to learn and absorb the flavor of House as well as the moves. The moves are different, but the flavor's not too far from the funk and disco I danced to back in the 70's... even more freedom now, it's better. That's right, I'm a geezer (57) who still loves to move...
@MattewBrunel u caLL THIS FLAVA wow boiii wat these ppl r doing a just moves there no no flava in the body. dance r not a set of moves its a feeling in the whole body so u can have teh moves on lock buh u still aint actually dancin and thats is wat these are doing performing moves from house buh not performing house itself
House actually never was about battling, and there wasn't money in it in the beginning. House is about partying, not battling, and a lot of house heads will tell you that. Battling is fun, but house is a party dance first. You're right about the improvisation, though.
funny people talk about house being freedom and then judge others!
i teach house. i used to disagree with it also until i saw that it brings more people in the community.
i tell EVERY class that they can't learn how to house just from a class, and that they shouldnt try to dance like me, but use these classes as inspiration to dance like themselves.
so, the point here is 'to each their own.' some people want to house but dont know how to take the first step and this is that for them.
And as far as I can see, Bruno's not calling him self a hero or pretending that he has the final word on "house dance"... so you all can just cool off. There are those of us who like choreography - after all, even BOTY is choreographed, and those crews ROCK.
not to offfend anybody however I am a 40yr old cat from the Chi and I used to dj house music and go to house parties and house dancing was moving how the beat made you feel it wasn't this systematic way of house dancing as far as something close to systematic was jacking which was spoken of in a song by Hercules called 7 ways other than that everything was jus freestyle and original
You know? I hear this exact same point of view from everyone who has been there, and I agree with that viewpoint every single time it's uttered.
I'm nearly 35. Listening to and dancing to house music for 23 years. I have never said I "house dance" because I've never known such a thing aside from "dancing."
As soon as an object "house dance" springs out of the void, it misses the point entirely and contradicts the formless, freeform nature of the culture. Suddenly everyone's teaching "it."
There's no knowing freeform expression; it's impossible! You appear to intrinsically understand this, JRK.
Whatever this thing is that's being taught in studios and has all sorts of "heroes" elevated to authority status -- a thing that spawns conventions, competitions and classes and ultimately legions of clones -- I have no idea. , but I look upon it with a sort of detached amusement when I cannot keep the scorn at bay.
You're just being smug and pretentious. Learning house steps gives people a foot in the door to understanding the rhythm, it familiarizes the brain with the body. What you're saying is basically like saying that trained jazz improv musicians don't understand what it is to feel music. Freedom is not willful ignorance of structure. We have no "heroes," only virtuosos who we admire. Artistic identity originates in slavish imitation. All you old heads need to cut the arrogance.
Stop right there, junior. There are no "house steps." People that aren't truly attached to the scene are creating these silly fictions. One cannot objectify this because if house is an artform that insists on freedom of expression, why am I increasingly seeing dancers who are essentially carbon copies of one another with their shuffling, "jacking" and "dolphin diving" selves?
Man, cut that shit out. You're simply too young to understand the truth.
Freedom of expression does not mean having no structure. Each dancer should fashion their own identity. I agree that the scene has many younger people as you describe, and that's probably the majority, but don't insult a whole generation or argue that there is no house dance simply because you disagree with what SOME dancers are doing. House music has distinct characteristics musically, which results in distinct movements. House steps are one EXAMPLE of house dance. It's not fiction, but fact.
Loose legs - Caleaf Sellers. A step that uniquely uses a foot pattern and rhythm that was designed for house and uniquely fits house when done with feeling and conviction.
A common misconception of jacking that many teachers put forth is that jacking is a move, and not a philosophy of moving one's body. Anyone who calls jacking a step is perpetuating a gross simplification of house dance.
Your calling me "junior" is you being ageist and elitist - don't do it because it belies your arrogance.
Whatever. I don't care about the ego items of some house rockstar. We're all equal in this joint. "Loose Legs" is a euphemism of some name wanting to make a bigger name for himself. True house heads don't fall for these sorts of name-game fairytales.
Loose Legs is Caleaf. What are you?
Do your own thing, man. If you want to hit the truth of this thing called house, forge your own path until that truth comes to fruition. Don't be counterfeit.
I don't want to reinvent the wheel. It helps to know what other people have done, and names help. Some dancers remain followers, but I agree that following should not be a culture. Caleaf is actually a down-to-earth guy, he shares many of your viewpoints.
Lastly, party with me, and then we'll see what's up. Toronto? I think my gf has cousins in Toronto. I know the warehouse jacks, and I agree: they're warehouse wack. I think we agree on a lot of things, but you're kind of abrasive is all.
I have yet to meet a really great house dancer who learned primarily from classes or dvds. The best dancers learn on the dance floor and by spending time experimenting in the studio alone or with other dancers. People have learned to value the quality of something by how much it costs, not by what it does for them, so they pay for classes to eternity. In the end, people can't purchase creativity or originality but with solitude and sweat. I've never taken a house class.
well, we all hafta start out somewhere right? everyone starts out somewhere, and most of the time, we start out as what you call "carbon copies" it's just up to them to take it to their own level. there's no hate in that. and really, why should it matter to anyone but the person themselves? ^_^ dancing is about having fun and expressing how we feel, not criticizing others for their reasons for dancing or what they do. join us. ^^)
the fucked up thing is u have the same thing with everything, like I used to love popping, just doing it with my friend on the street or whatever and then Now Im grown up and I went to a class to learn popping since I feel kind of weird doing it in the club or whatever since noone else is and well it was all this coreography shit that just makes u so sick of it...
I've never been a fan of organized dancing...music is something that evokes an emotion in all of us and that emotion should come forth in your movements instead of being this predetermined/learned response.
je connaissais pas du tout la house dance c'est plutot sympa ensuite suis un peu deçu car tu as mis en mot clé voguing et il n'y a aucun mouvement qui s'y apparente
yeah yeah!!! house music!! im trying to bring it up over here in the southern california, USA area. I been practicing and been going to various places to help spread the word of this dance!!! peace up everyone!!
I am a dancer and you know that dancers can move all their lives!!! Its something within them. I am moving to Madrid and need to know that there is a society, a culture that likes to dance to techno, to drum beats in outdoor parks, to move. I would love to be a part of the Dance Culture!!!
track ID is Selan 'Gravity' (Roots Dub)- I've been looking for this song for quite some time..and thanks to a fellow youtuber, repertoaaar for identyfying this awesome track.
what gwan baby im loving this video loving the deepness to the beat whats it called let me no it this is my style out of all the other styles of house music all about deep house even tho i love funky house jackin fucking electro house but deep is my real deal!
Champloo - i play the guitar and I take ideas wherever I find them... Dance is the same and you can see the energy in that class. Yeah it's a little formulaic but that's like music licks - you use them in different settings looser and later. I really like this clip - the girl dancing in it is great. If I was in Paris I'd love to check this out.
I can feel it and that's all that counts. Plus I love the track - what is it, anyone know?
I love House Music. I dance it, I spin it, I listen to it. But I'm against class room settings for teaching house dance. Keep it raw. Like..... you can see that these folks are dancing..... but their flow is so mechanical. So retarded. You don't take a class to House. You either got it or you don't.
I disagree. There isn't anything wrong with teaching house dancing. If people want to learn new dance moves or just want to take it up as a hobby, so be it. If they can teach salsa, hip hop dancing, ballet, breakdance or whatever other dance style in a dance studio, what makes house dancing so much more special that it shouldnt be taught? House dancing is just a style of dance like every other style and can be taught.
what do you disagree about? That one either has it or they don't? Well, I agree w/ you in that anyone has a right to teach a class and be taught. My point is that a few certain dance styles (house, hip hop, break) come from within and observation. To teach these is kinda lame. I understand why salsa, swing, waltz, ballet, are taught. Cause they're full of precise and exact movements/steps. And what makes house so special? You can tell who's a student and you can tell who's actually got it.
one big point to be made here... a dancer is always a student of dance.. everyone can get cleaner, more intricate, more feeling, new steps of course...
and even if you're taught something, if u keep practising it will start coming from within, even the masters of house learn from each other
Some are just content with following in another's footsteps, and they will always follow; others will eventually make their own way. Regardless, at some point someone was following someone, unless they're a genius, and so it's a little rude to judge. Becoming an original dancer whose dance is dynamic, but still systematic and intelligible is a serious endeavor, but a rewarding one. Not everyone can or wants to do it.
Hi! Please don't take this the wrong way. House is a feeling that you must have come from within. There is a big difference between natural and "taught" dancing.
House actually is kinda different in the sence that this dance was not created to existing music. The music was created after how the dancers moved, which makes it a bit more spiritual than other types of dancing because this way the dance is truly within the music...
You're right about hip hop, house, and breaking being more dynamic, but it's because younger generations are picking them up and doing new things with them. Whether one wants to learn established movements or press forward with their own is a personal choice. Any judgments would be subjective. It's like calling people "lame" for having to take math classes when they could teach it to themselves. Some people need a little guidance. I never would have learned house if I hadn't had a mentor.
Oh you shits as cool this was then? I also want to be able to dance so! I already work for many years on as to becoming good as the people I have just seen there. How do I do something like that? The video is really the hammer! Five starlets (:
The artist name is wrong may i plz know who is the original artist please?
