The ACLU should not be attacking Arizona. Especially since they defend the Mexicans who can't explain why THEIR laws are stricter than the very state they are attacking.
I have to say that if they've been living here for years and years, let them stay if they've done nothing wrong in the past. If they speak two languages, who's stopping them? This is one world. ONE WORLD. So you have a job here, so you work here, so you love it here. Let's just become one world and stop being greedy money hoggers. You live on this planet, you get to live with the people on it. It's not your world, it's our world. And this is America. It's okay to different here...supposedly....
I would ask him because he doesn't speak English. Why does the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union concern themselves so much with people who aren't America? Would things not change for the better for the American citizens we already have, if you did just that? Focus on OUR civil liberties which are being thrown away for the welfare and care of illegal immigrants?
haha I haven't seen this video before, and I looked away from the screen after the first set of words popped up because I wanted to see if I could comprehend the spanish and I thought for a minute wow! this guy is easy to understand his accent isn't so thick! It would be funny if he did get pulled over for no reason because he's American and it would prove how stupid the proposed law is!
northgoddess88 nailed it. The Arizona law is racist to its core. If you want to side with ugly racists, go right ahead, just don't expect those of us who support the constitution to agree with you.
Also, if a U.S. citizen in Saudi Arabia got caught with his male lover, both could be executed. Does that justify our killing gay Saudis in this country?
The U.S. imposes its will around the world with the excuse that we are better than all other countries. Therefore we should act better.
@Philip6Esq You liberals are the racists. You defend the brown supremacists from La Raza. You would rather support Mexico than America. By the way, how does your precious Mexico treat THEIR illegal aliens?

If an American is stopped in Mexico and they don't have papers, they're jailed and deported. Why should we treat them any different than they treat us?
@flatl1n3 but an American wouldn't be stopped because of the color of their skin. i agree there should be a better way to get illegal immigrants out of the country but racial profiling is not the way to go.
This conservative approach makes the world ever more ROTTEN. If others are rotten, they want to be just as rotten.
Just look at what it does in "the justice system". Instead of turning criminals into law-abiding people, the conservaitve approach is for police and/or prison guards becoming CRIMINAL in the way they treat those under their power, lying, contaminating evidence, brutalizing, sometimes even murdering prisoners.
@flatl1n3 i agree but one thing that is the truth if we go to mexico with out a passport or something they wont let us come back that happen to a friend of mine
@hollytoo Why do you presume that anything OTHER than a driver's license is required? If a cop pulls you over for speeding and smells booze on your breath, that is reasonable cause to perform a field sobriety test. Now lets say you're an illegal immigrant, from British Columbia. You will have a foreign nation's ID, if you have one at all, and a foreign driver's license. Yet you claim to live here. At that point you should be required to show a valid work or student visa.
@davehall2397 lol that's not what hollytoo said. Sure, the law might say race can't be used as a factor but it will be. Do you honestly think a cop is going to ask a white man for his papers? But if he's Latino and has an accent, he will most likely be asked to show proof of citizenship or legal residency. I'm not saying all cops are racist but some are and there will be a lot more racial profiling going on.
@gban16 give me a damn break! You said "Do you honestly think a cop is going to ask a white man for his papers?".. really ???
Everytime I've ever been pulled over by a cop or went through a license check I've had to show my "papers": ID, usually license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration.....AND I'M A "WHITE GUY"! Am I supposed to cry racism if the police officer is anything other that white? I think not, they're only doing their job.
@davehall2397 A driver's license doesn't prove that you're a legal citizen in many states. So if a legal Latino with an accent from New Mexico gets stopped in Arizona and only has his driver's license with no proof of citizenship, is he assumed to be illegal? You are out of your mind if you don't think Latinos won't be profiled even more if this law is passed
@davehall2397 its not those "papers" it's immigration papers in addition to ID, insurance, etc. The man in the video is a successful man who is actually American. What happens when people think he is an illegal Mexican immigrant and they pull him over just because he looks like he is from Mexico?
@davehall2397 i have cops in my family and when they use this same argument I remind them that driving DOES require a license. Your response here clearly demonstrates that you're not receptive.
It's left to the people to fend for themselves. In the end, the American people will decide who will stay and who will go. Illegal aliens have no more rights in this country than we do in their land. DEO VINDICE!
Thank you ACLU for your commitment to allowing even more crime to seep onto the streets of America. This law hasn't a damn thing to do with race or skin color. No one has the right to enter a foreign country without legal documentation. America must protect it's borders at all costs or face another 9/11. In my town, we drag illegal aliens back to the county line by ropes and chains to persuade them not to return. When the law is not on our side, the mob rules.
este video me trajo a lagrimas de saber que esta persona como mis padres somos decendentes de familia mexicana y es triste ver que ay tanta ignorancia! cuenten con mi apoyo yo si hice una donacion! y si se puede mi gente!
SB1070 11. Specifies that, in addition to any violation of federal law, a person is guilty of trespassing if the person is:
a) present on any public or private land in the state and
b) is not carrying his or her alien registration card or has willfully failed to register.
That means that you can be stopped for suspicion of trespassing if you are ANYWHERE on public land. That is considered reasonable cause- walking down the street.
The film states "If they see me doing yard work, under the law, they'll be suspicious if I'm documented or undocumented".... LIES LIES LIES
The law clearly states RACE CAN NOT BE USED as a factor. Read the law people. Socialists governments and ACLU types think we're all sheep. They think we'll believe their lies and not search for the truth on our own.
Google "Arizona 1070 text" and read it for yourself
When this man is pulled over for speeding and he shows his valid driver’s license, car registration and proof of insurance the cop writes out him a ticket and then he drives away. Or he has no driver’s license or proof of insurance and his car is registered in another country the cop then starts to ask another series of questions that could get him arrested and taken to jail. This is about the rule of law not mob rule.
@cupera1 Excellent Post! The Arizona law only allows police to question someones status if they have already been stopped for some other offense, much like the seat-belt law here in Ohio. They can't just randomly pull people over to check. The law also has strict sanctions if "reasonable cause" is not maintained. Legal immigrants and Americans of Hispanic descent have nothing to fear and will not be affected. The illegals, on the other hand, are fleeing in droves.
Why don't you try reading the Bill before you run like an idiot! The Bill states you have to be detained for violating a crime. I have to show my D/L if I get pulled over, so? Maybe you should be doing yard work in Mexico so you don't have to worry about having to show your ID!
This ad is a COMPLETE LIE. The people published it are complete racists because they insist on playing the race card...The Arizona law is just like the seatbelt law: you can't get pulled over for not wearing one, but if you get pulled over for speeding and you're not wearing one - they'll ask this guy - just like me - for my I.D. Shame on the ACLU. They suck.
This ad is disgraceful. The ACLU KNOWS that SB1070 doesn't allow cops to stop anyone arbitrarily based on the color of their skin, and yet they still produce this garbage.
ACLU: Do you REALLY wanna be taking up seriously? Then quit making crap up.
One of the things that isn't getting a lot of attention, either, is that the bill shifts the burden of detention, prosecution and punishment from the Feds to the State. There is no way that Arizona CAN afford to implement the provisions of this bill without dramatically reorganizing budgetary priorities - law enforcement simply doesn't have the funds. Further, failing to allocate adequate funding will lead (in addition to all of the frivilous ones) to lawsuits alleging failure to enforce.
Its become so hard for you people to imagine the United States not having Illegal Aliens but one way or another something is going to be done about it. Push come to shove Obama has a really limited amount of time to get it done on the sly and even then...it will translate into a river of blood flowing through the streets of America. With a country wide 65% approval rating and a $1,500,000 war chest for legal representation. SB1070 is a reality you really need to face. Leave Arizona while you can
Hilarious...No one is actually paying attention to ACLU video's these days ? Less than 700 people have watches this video and most are way, WAY low on viewings. You guys are such pathetic losers...There is nothing "American" about the ACLU and SB1070 will run like it has in other states. You guys do not get out much but most state law enforcements agencies in fact ask people to verify their country of origin when they drive without a drivers license, auto insurance and don't speak ENGLISH.
You won't have a problem, you are a legal citizen. I don't have a problem. You came here legally. You read, write, speak and understand english which is a requirement to become a citizen. If you are stopped for breaking the law, by law are required to carry a drivers license, registration and insurance. If you or anyone can NOT produce those papers, especially a driver license you will be held until you can be identified. Just like anyone else. I am all for immigration, just do it Legally!
Seems like we go through the same cycle of racism and xenophobia every few generations. A century ago people were terrified of Irish and Italian immigrants, and for the same alleged reasons: "They dilute our culture," "they don't speak our language," "they take our jobs," et cetera... The real core of each of these arguments is simple: "I'm scared of people who are different." I wish more people understood being American is not about race or skin color and never has been.
