Time to make a choice on climate change before it's too late
.
For a decade the main parties in Australian politics have been choosing expensive, dumb policies to reduce greenhouse emissions over the cheap, smart option of an efficiently designed carbon price.
a species that elects a war monger over a man who had in him the potential to win a noble prize, does indeed possess, what it takes to destroy a beautiful planet.
Hey menachem70, do us all a favor and keep your ignorant 16-year-old opinion to yourself. Better yet, since you're so young, write down what you said, wait 40 years, and then re-read it and consider who was stupider.
To all conservatives bashing Gore and global warming...
What words does your leader, McCain, use to describe Al Gore?
"admire... appreciate... proud... thanks... i'm with him... appropriately awarded with the Nobel Prize... in agreement with his sense of priority on climate change"
Don't belive me? It's all here; watch?v=E3okBYFMOPY
you all ask your self this question how did Al Gore get to Norway with out burning fossil fueli dont think he rented a row boat or even flew 2nd class flight..he got there in his private jet. and another questionhoe come her did not use HIS INTERNET to do a video conference to accept his award??? his carbon is foot print is too big to mentioned.
fighting global warming is not done by completely eliminating your carbon emissions, but my reducing them here and there and eliminating it where it's unnecessary as good as you can without changing your lifestyle too much. To say that when Al Gore needs to get to Oslo he should row or sail across the Atlantic is just stupid. He didn't use the INTERNET for his acceptance speech because he was accepting a nobel prize, one of the higheset honors you can achieve, nothing for some video conference
I would say the whole human species. Even 'primitives' burned fires, and us? even our food now involves huge pollution, fertilizer ship plane truck and tractor. And water. Even victims, poor landless subsistence farmers raze forest for arable land, for our beef to graze on. But point taken, and industry is most responsible, and owners of industry (including shareholders). I think Al Gore is Great. I wish he didn't have to try to pitch a shut-out - from the stands. Very moving.
All of us can learn how to waste less and pollute less. We can join community groups for local action and we can vote for those candidates with the strongest ideas and programs for protection and restoration of the environment.
For people who don't understand why the Peace Prize was given to Gore, the IPCC and Pachauri view the video interview on NATO's website with Pachauri. Even NATO acknowledges that climate change leads to conflict and war!
This is my video and it would be my right to block you if I chose to. However, I have not blocked you because I want the conversation to continue and I want you to learn more about Al Gore.
I suggest you see "An Inconvenient Truth" and read "The Assualt on Reason". These provide great insight into global warming and the highjacking and corruption of our government. From watching and listening to Al Gore for many years, I believe he would make a great President if he would run for that office. Others will disagree but I hope they will do so after a fair investigation of the issues.
I think he'll do better outside the US government and be more effective as a World Statesman.
As president, he would be too bound - look at the nonsense around Clinton and the trivial distractions he had to deal with pulling him away from doing his job. Because the vested interests will do anything to keep their interests going for the next quarter. The long term thinkers might consider next year. They would therefor pull Gore into their game.
Thank you so much. He's such a visionary. I've been looking for the complete recording of Al Gore's speech in Bali last night (Dec 13), but I have not found it (the complete one). Can you tell me if you spot one? Thanks!
Oh, we should follow your lead and descend into name calling and pettiness...
If we all had acted 15 years ago, when small changes would have been sufficient, then today Al Gore would not have needed to hurry around in the most time-efficient way to get his message heard. And we are still resisting acting on the scale required. Instead of contributing, you choose this.

a man with a nobel-worthy purpose, but a politician who didn't have what it takes to get elected to a position where he could realize it.

Politicians are getting less and less trust.
Let's hope they will earn their trust and
respect and not only talk.
