I got to meet Eh Phuthong in 2005. A really cool guy. I saw him fight again last year when he beat the Australian in Phnom Penh. I think he has retired. He has definitely put on a little weight, but one of the great champions.

I don't believe that is correct. If there is so much force being directed at the relatively sensitive rib cage, then why isn't anyone feeling enough pain. Don't tell me they have so much muscle protecting them! From a physics perspective, the larger velocity of a kick to the head will definitely exert a larger force. I have no reason to change my mind. Maybe you should face these fighters and teach them some applied physics. Personally I prefer to watch and criticize.

I can't say about that. But on a National Geographic documentary the force generated on the head of a dummy by a muay thai champion was more then that generated by all other kicks.

My original remark was making fun of these long legged "fighters" who seem unable to kick at their opponents head and spend too much time hugging and kneeing each other in vain. If this going to remain a discussion on the theory of fighting, I guess one can agree to anything. However, before actually having fought or experienced this technique of fighting it is futile to say that this form of fighting is ineffective.

If you knew anything about it, you'd see that their defensive knowledge is nullifying the knees. You pull or push or twist your opponent at the right time as he throws a knee, and you can take a lot of the power from it. If they fought some kickboxer who just knew how to punch and kick, they'd set up a good knee and end him.
