Lovely horse, how many times does it need digging in the ribs with those spurs of yours though? What a shame. Never spur a willing horse - as the saying goes!
Thaks for the positive comments! Leo was sold nearly a year ago. He was sold to a Hunter/Jumper barn. His jump had gotten quite nice by the time his dressage was up to 3rd level! Leonhard was a fabulous little horse with big movement! I learned a lot riding him and had fun training him.
@horseyfoot11 When doing dressage, most of the time you need to put your knees down. This relaxes your butt and gives the horse somewhere to go, instead of your seat bones blocking his back from rising up. The problem with this is it is harder to spur and give the horse commands with the heel, so in order to kick' the horse, without raising her knee she must reach up with her heels to hit the right spot.
@ottopasquier The kind thing to do would keep your thoughts to yourself. Your are probably a lower level rider trying to sound like a professional horse snob.
My Remy is 16.3 and has a lofty trot quite like this. It is very difficult to sit without gaining inches of air. Makes for an awesome ab/core workout though.
Gibby662 If you have ridden different horses you should understand that a horse with this elevated of a trot is very hard to sit and not feel out of control.
do you have the name of the videographer? i'd hire them, the video is very well done. is Leonhard sold by now? he does look very talented & very well behaved for under saddle a year
@gibby662 , The judge probably loved the harmony of the horse and rider together. Her seat isn't fantastic but it is not bad. The two breaks she fixed quick and correctly, her transitions were beautiful. Each judge has there different things that they are picky about. This judge obviously didn't mind her "Sloppy seat"
For gibby662... She got a 72% because other than the two break's she rode really nice and the judge's like to see someone who has a lot of control over there horse.
Wow you're a very good rider, and i saw your figures were so acurate. The only fault i saw was at 2:05 he got excited. And congrats on the good score! I have a welsh-t.b. cross, who's going to be 7 years old. I'm training him, but you're much better than me. Congrats anyways!
Hey i have a question. do they look at the conformation of a horse? I'm starting dressage on my appendix QH and his front left leg wings out a little at the trot and canter. once he's more collected it doesn't look as weird. of course when i see him move, it's all i notice lol. Nice video by the way. the horses tail is AWESOME.
WOW!!! that horse has so much talent!!! I can't believe how smooth and free he is even though he's been under saddle for only a year! excellent job with him, and good luck all the way to Grand Prix! please post a video of him once you get to Grand Prix...I would love to see that...
wow thats amazing!! if i was a billionaire i'd get him in a heartbeat. i am trying to remember the first level test for a show soon. do you have any suggestions?
