The conditions aren't even that bad. Ive seen much worse in the UK where budgies and other birds are squashed into one tiny cage to be sold! They barely have room to stretch their wings out. The same goes with the fishes sold in the pet store. I think Id rather be sold outdoors then suffocating indoors. People are just being bias because it is in China. I bet if the video was titled ' French pet store' people wouldn't batter an eyelid.
AND just fyi - I work in a pet store here.. in the "developed" country as what so many of you like to think. Yet I get people ALL THE EFFIN TIME. asking if they can buy tiny ass cages for a large parrot, or buy a turtle, or goldfish and stick them in a bowl.... literally, for everyday I work, I tell people they can't do that! So this type of personal animal cruelty is just as bad as a cluster of it shown in one store. Tones of people buy animals and treat them like dirt in "developed" countries
I'd stop the whining."Western" standards is not that much better. you can't sit there infront of your computer critiquing and calling what other countries do as "cruelty" before you understand cultural values. Like what people have pointed out already, the "West" is not much different in regards to housing animals..it's not that we're a "developed country" shit still happens, there are plenty of hoarders - you just don;t hear/see it. It is preferred by customers this way. The videos are on this website as well. Particularly Korean and Chinese. Its not a matter of money. As long as customers pay top dollar for it Its a tradition which will never change.
@californiaflocks and our feedlot farms are any different? Our beef and chicken goes through much more torture than what is seen in this video every day. Crap, they'd love to live in the conditions depicted here because that would be world class living compared to what they get here in the states. Animal Rights in China has and will never exist. No offense intended however this is their culture.and we can only accept it. However Chinese owned petstores, medicinal markets, Restaurants etc. in the U.S get closed down and fined on a regular basis for these reasons. I imagine westerners being called cry babies for being unable to tolerate this as well. East is East and West is West I guess.
@californiaflocks you are wrong. the west use to abuse animals as much as the east. animal trades, circus and hunting were very common but the western lifestyles are now advanced therefore animal cruelty is no longer accepted. chinese lifestyles havn't advanced greatly because they only just started developing. slave trade use to be seen as normal in the west why isnt it now? its the same with animals in the east. u cant compare a developed country to a developing country with the same standards
my friend ... humans in some countries live in such a miserable conditions .just like those animals in cages ..... it is not an execuse of course for animals mistreatment... but it is all about priorities !
@321pudgie you havnt seen real cruelty, you wouldnt like it :( i went to borneo malaysia and they had 15x15cm cages with around 25to30 baby chickens in them stack over eachother in around 4 layers and the exact same think to ducklings, and most of them were dying of heat stroke and disease,there were a few dead ones in there and 1/3 of them had huge cancer tumours. and i will NEVER look at a chick or duckling again the same... this video is cruel, but if it cheers you up, theres worse
free all the animals would you like to be kept in a cage i dont care if they get fed and stuff free them or else..........
