Sweet (the red demon that's going to marry Dawn) is such a great enemy, because his job in the plot wasn't to put Dawn in danger, or to try and kill Buffy. He fractured the team, he ruined everyone's relationships, and all he had to do was force them to tell the truth. And we got an amazing (at times cheesy) musical episode out of it. Just listen to the short reprise of 'What You Feel', he practically says that he's won, even if he didn't get the bride he wanted. And he even got away clean.

@Ghostlyghostgamer if u watch some the power he displays through the episode not only the mind games he might been one the most powerful beings ever on the show with powers similar to the mask from the movie reality warping and able basically do what ever he thinks of even saying he's the one who burned Rome while Nero fiddled. But unlike most all other beings he was flexible and not obsessed on a single goal for how it ended and if he won.
