This video really gets to me. I know how it feels when nobody believes in you. I've given up on just about everything. I've given up my dream of college, I've given up on love, I've given it all up. The part about the old man makes me cry, which is something I don't do often. I wish someone cared.
That was all that my son-in-law needed was for us to believe in him, though I, his wife, mother & brothers did, he needed so much more to believe in him and not put him down. Just needed more love and understanding. Not ridicule. He had so much talent and love. I wish he could have seen it in himself. RIP CDB you are so dearly missed.
I thought this song was okay until he tried to bring in god to the conversation. Really most of the world hasn't believed in a Abrahamic religion since the beginning of time so god should be use to people not believing in him. I think he should be kind of sad about how many people believe in him today because most of the people who have become of an Abrahamatic faith are only that way because they were forced to.

Also, this country was founded on the principles of Christianity, believe it or not, so if for no better reason than to show respect to our Founding Fathers, we should acknowledge THEIR faith.

Even if everyone in this nation was Christian except me there should be no formal state religion because it is oppressive. Also our nations first leaders were primarily deists not Christians. I feel like I am the only one at school who actually says the Pledge of Allegiance. My English teacher will say it but stops at "Under God" Then keeps going. Honestly I can't believe God still puts up with this. That only shows why he is really in charge and not us.
No matter what, you should tell your children they did a good job even if they lose, love your parents through thick and thin, and believe you can do anything you set your mind to. Family is all you have in the end. <3
I know how that little boy feels. My mom is always putting me down because I'm not a nursing school like my older sister. She says I won't amount to anything and that I'm just a bitch who will end up on the streets with a pimp to support me. I gave up on school, but somehow still graduated. I live with my grandparents trying to get a job so I can prove her wrong.

Obviously you've never had issues that big before. I grew up with a father that called me ugly and stupid my entire life. By eighth grade I was ready to take my own life. My mom caught me and was the only thing that kept me from going over the edge. If you ever go through something just that big and terrible, you just wait and see how much you need others.

I played softball for basically my entire childhood, and my dad was my coach. he NEVER gave up on me, and it made me into the person I am today. He gave me extra practice at home, and he believed in me. It made me feel great that he cared <3

i burst into tears when he says what if god quit trying....when i was 12 years old i was diganost with a brain tumor...i was crying for 2 hours before i had my surgery i asked the doctor if i was goin to die...just before i went into surgry i prayed to go to let me live after this surgery. i look back and i hope god never quits on anyone like he never quit on me.

Joe writes the most passionate, sad, and funniest songs of any artist out there. I think he should be more popular and be reconized more, thats for sure. I was quite moved by the first few verses, and I really related especially in my child hood. I grew up thinking that I was useless and uncoordinated and socially inept. It wasn't until much later in life that I found out that there was nothing that wrong with me and all I needed to believe in myself and practice. I find the bible to be a wonderful work of of fiction which describes a cruel, petty man in the sky that forces people to worship him or else be punished. However I don't believe there is a man in the sky nor do I fault anyone for doing so, it's a comforting thought when people are afraid of death.

Many kids are from divorced families and have no fathers to be there
to cheer them on. Mom's are to busy working 2 jobs to make ends meet.

Yeah, well my dad won't believe in anything I do. He doesn't even speak english, not that well actually and he gave me the chance to study Medicine in Canada. He says I'm worth nothing and shit like that. But you know what, I don't care! God most certainly believes in me and my lovely girlfriend does too. Obviously you've never had issues that big before. I grew up with a father that called me ugly and stupid my entire life. By eighth grade I was ready to take my own life. My mom caught me and was the only thing that kept me from going over the edge. If you ever go through something just that big and terrible, you just wait and see how much you need others.

@fragger105 You can't say things like that. Some people have a really hard time working out their problems. My father and mother are alcoholics. My dad has been calling me a bitch, whore, slut, and other things sence I was 5. They both yell at me all the time and I've practicallly had to raise my little sister. I used to think the same thing as you, if people just delt with their own problems we would all be fine. But its not true. People need eachother to move on correctly.

I played softball for basically my entire childhood, and my dad was my coach. he NEVER gave up on me, and it made me into the person I am today. He gave me extra practice at home, and he believed in me. It made me feel great that he cared <3

i burst into tears when he says what if god quit trying....when i was 12 years old i was diganost with a brain tumor...i was crying for 2 hours before i had my surgery i asked the doctor if i was goin to die...just before i went into surgry i prayed to go to let me live after this surgery. i look back and i hope god never quits on anyone like he never quit on me.

I was quite moved by the first few verses, and I really related especially in my child hood. I grew up thinking that I was useless and uncoordinated and socially inept. It wasn't until much later in life that I found out that there was nothing that wrong with me and all I needed to believe in myself and practice. So I was very shocked when suddenly and irrelevantly the song turns and blames me and fellow atheists for everything wrong with the world.

I find the bible to be a wonderful work of of fiction which describes a cruel, petty man in the sky that forces people to worship him or else be punished. However I don't believe there is a man in the sky nor do I fault anyone for doing so, it's a comforting thought when people are afraid of death.
