  • how long will that tank of charcoal last

  • equipo simple y funcional. gracias por compartir los conocimientos

  • This is soooo cool! What if I wanted a larger downdraft cylinder to increase burn time, or a hopper of some sort to feed more fuel? I love the simplicity of this system.

  • i will try this one....and will informed you when it is succesfull....thank you.

  • nice and simple...i would like to try it at my home....can share description on each bottles?.

  • @shebubakar2

the bottle largest is the gasifier (downdraft), the second bottle is a cyclone, the third and fourth are coolers (with nothing inside), the fifth is a filter with steel wool inside, the sixth is a filter with cork pieces inside.

  • Bravo!

  • This is probably my favourite gasifier on youtube.

I'm using this as the inspiration to build my own version of this from scratch from stainless pipe.!

i'd love to know what all the separate cylinders are for :)

Thanks for sharing your work :)

    Cheers.

  • nice and simple.Very good

  • @johnpcwarrior thanks, john warrior

  • is that engine old or is the timing off because it sounds like its knocking but i don't know anything about that engine but if you listen carefully you will here the knocking sound (if its knocking or if its just normal) i think you could run a car engine on that setup and power a whole house with it or use it to boost a car with it or recharge car batteries or even use it to pump water with it but theres endless possibility's with a wood gasifier

  • Hey do you have the plans for this?

  • ccobbeaver, I have no plans.

I have a photo with description of each of the bottles and their function.

    espero estar certo,obrigado

  • any plans for this? i'd love to build and try to improve your design. not that its not good as it is, but you know. . .

  • Have you think sometimes about water filter for your gasifier ?

  • mcz, when I add water in the charcoal, the performance worsening.interesting not?

  • Water takes heat energy when it wapours, so gasifier lose som power.

My idea was use some kind of water filter after gazifier, and before motor.

  • mcz, I turned the engine some hours and later disassembled the headstock and valves to see its state. if I was with tars I would place filter with water, but the engine this clean one without no dirt, therefore I left with these filters

  • Ok, the easiest way is the best way, simplicity miens durability .

I am intresting, after how much hours you replace yours filter system ?

  • I not yet substituted cork oak pieces, I only washed them 15 hours after, already the steel straw substituted with 10 hours.

  • ok, thanks for answers !

  • That is a marvellous gasifier.

I have made a woodgas stove but have gone no further due to lack of confidence. Your video has given me new confidence.

Am I right in saying that you are using a forced air input into the gasifier rather than sucking air through?

Does that make it an updraught gasifier?

How are you cleaning the gas before it enters the engine?

Your fuel, is it charcoal? That would be a lot more tar free than wood.

  • Jaybee,I use air forced only to initiate it the fire, later am free suction.

    the gasifier is updraught.

    the fuel is charcoal.

    for cleaning the gas:

the first bottle after the gasifier is a cyclone, the second and third it is a steel straw filter absorbed in old oil,the fourth and fifth are filter of cork oak perforated (worn out).

the gas arrives at the clean engine (without tar)

  • Thank you for the reply.

I shall modify my half-finished gasifier to an updraught gasifier and use charcoal as you have.

  • @ger261 thankyou for sharing that ;)

is the gas much cooler after going thru the cyclone and filters??

I read cooler gas is preferable to warmer.

I plan to build a water-jacket heat exchanger into the pipe & or cylinder/s.

    Thanks again :)

  • @badw0lfvirus , the larger cylinder is the gasifier, the second cylinder is cyclone

then follows two cylinders ,that are equal, are filters ,steel wool soaked in oil lubricant used, the last two cyllinders, also equal, cork filters are chopped.

The gas does not come out cold, he goes warm.

    thanks for the comments
