NO vote = we are still in the EU, like we are now, and the EU must be more accountable to the people of Europe. It stops the runaway power of the EU parliament and its gravy train expenses.

YES vote = no way back, we can't undo mistakes made in the treaty or the EU, our say in EU is halved. Some countries say is doubled.

The mature thing is to stand up and tell EU to correct the problems, not to give in to the accusing tut-tutting of EU politicians trying to tell us we should be embarrassed.

And when Spain voted yes unemployment doubled to 18%. Article 19(1) of the Charter states that "collective expulsions are forbidden". That will be used by the ECJ to block deportations. Paragraph 7 of the referendum legislation also allows the government to surrender our vetoes on justice including asylum and immigration by removing Protocol No.21 of the Amsterdam Treaty. Ireland will only have a 0.8% say in EU legislation where we don't have the veto. Vote no.

The 'guarantees' are worthless as they are not attached to the Treaty. Article 269 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU as amended by Lisbon allows the EU Council to create a system of "own resources" for the Union - an obvious reference to European taxes. Paragraph 7 of the referendum legislation allows the govt to abolish passport checks on immigrants by joining the Schengen agreement. The Charter means Ireland will have to let asylum seekers work while the UK doesn't have to. Vote no.

If anyone out there still thinks that the EU is cuddly and friendly with only the well-being of it's citizens (albeit an imposed citizenship) at heart....google : European Gendarmerie Force.They are "first and foremost at the disposal of the EU" !

This coming Saturday(5th of September), there will be a big demonstration in Berlin against the Lisbon treaty/constitution. Here in Germany most people want a say on giving an un-elected commission of rich people even MORE power over our lives !
