Something new I've discovered which really impresses employers is to have your own website. I'm not talking about a Facebook page, that's not going to impress anyone, I mean a real dotcom website. I got mine made for free at ultimateyournamedotcom - I've already had a few job offers since my site went live, I'm just trying to decide if I should go with one of them or wait to see if better offers come in soon.

When companies tell me they hired a better candidate/didn't accept my offer, it would be great to know why I fell short. If they didn't want to hire me, they shouldn't care if I used that info to apply to one of their competitors.

if u dnt get called back or dont feel ur application gets noticed take it in personally ask to speak with the manager and shake their hand say your name hand them the application and say that you really look forward to hearing from them and thank them..that way you wont just be another faceless name in a pile of papers!(=

@jeanLUVashley Also, apply for more than one job (the more, the better.) That way, you won't have to worry about one particular job you probably won't get, and will increase your chances of finding a company that is interested in you. If it's been a while since you put in an applicaton, and you still haven't heard from any, try calling them. It's another way of showing your interest to the company, and it's the best way to hear about the position you're applying for, and if it's still available.
@jeanLUVashley The best advice I can give you so far is to make yourself more noticed. Companies recieve more than 500 applicatons a day, so it would be ideal to put important facts about yourself on your applicaton. If you have had volunteer hours, that's really good. If you have work experience, even better. If not, tell the company how working for them will help you with experience in the long run. (cont.)

Just state your name, tell them you put in an application, ask if the position is still open, and see what you get. It's also a good idea to apply for many jobs to increase your chances. i hate job interviewers most of them are biased and highly judgemental so whatever you say doesnt matter if they dont like you your not getting hired period! if you know someone within the company or organization your in like flynn but, if you dont well your left on a wing and a prayer.
Its not what you know its who you know! I have education and very hard worker, and I see workers at company's that have NO education or interest in what they are doing. It is as simple as their dad or mom or friend that got them that job...the interview is the easy part, its GETTING the interview thats the tough part.

A good way to get a job is to try to get a current employee fired. Continue to write complaints about an employee even if they are not true, and write them as different people. If that employee has enough complaints the company will fire that person and a position is open.

I've applied to many many places and I always try to look my best while presenting myself to them. Sometimes the manager wasnt there so I asked when they would return and the secretary or receptionist wasnt sure so took a message but they never called back. I follow up with visits and phone calls but no one ever contacts me for an interview and they sort of push me off to the side and there was a time i asked to speak to the manager directly and she refused. im always polite and i smile kindly.
just convince them that without you they are destined to fail and go into liquidation, so to save a few jobs they better employ you so you can sail it in the right direction ,never go into a interview and give them your balls they dont give a toss about your sence of dress or what hobbies you have they just want someone with balls who is loyal and contributes, use or be used if you have a degree in that you will have no problems

Getting the interview is dependant upon jobs acually being there. I'm in Canada, and apparently we have jobs here. However, even with a university degree and the qualifications to be a stock broker I'm having a difficult go of it.

Look lets be realistic, if you do not have a known last name, know someone who is able to get you in the door, if you are a relative, if you are wealthy and are able to bring money into the company, or the co. is able to use a tax credit/deduction by hiring you, your chances are slim to none, and slim might have left town.

your exactly right...i ve called the employers a lot and have filled out a bunch of app.'s but nothing, even if you go in they say the same thing they would over the phone...my gf talks to some store owners at the accounting place she works for but it still doesnt help.
@mexmax101 you could try getting an education. Employers don't like run-on sentences much. In fact, any grammar problems in your resume will get it thrown in the trash can.
@mexmax101 i have been in the position you are, if you want to get that interview call you have to be assertive, when you turn in the application, make sure you are dressed nice but not as if you are going for an interview, just presentable, next when you turn in the application ask for the manager and hand it to them directly, this shows that you are interested, the next step is CRUCIAL!!! --after a few days, go in and follow up on the application, it shows them you are putting in effort
@mexmax101 If you networked a little, you would increase your chances of getting a big break. In other words, befriend more people- and more importantly, diversify the groups of people that you associate with. If you only associate with unsuccessful people, then don't expect to get a "hook-up" for a great job. :-)

My sister was in the same boat as you, but when she couldn't even get interviews she went to a website called supremecv (eventually after lots of searching) and got a job within two weeks. She got three interviews and two offers. You have to think outside the box my friend.

Just state your name, tell them you put in an application, ask if the position is still open, and see what you get. It's also a good idea to apply for many jobs to increase your chances. Hopefully this information will help you. (the best thing about this, is that you're getting advice from a 16 year old :D)

For those struggling to actually trying to get an interview, it is actually easy. All you must do is try and seperate yourself from the field. This can be done through networking or utilising many sources on the internet. Just as a starting point anyway.

A good way to get a job is to try to get a current employee fired. Continue to write complaints about an employee even if they are not true, and write them as different people. If that employee has enough complaints the company will fire that person and a position is open.

I've applied to many many places and I always try to look my best while presenting myself to them. Sometimes the manager wasnt there so I asked when they would return and the secretary or receptionist wasnt sure so took a message but they never called back. I follow up with visits and phone calls but no one ever contacts me for an interview and they sort of push me off to the side and there was a time i asked to speak to the manager directly and she refused. im always polite and i smile kindly.

Look lets be realistic, if you do not have a known last name, know someone who is able to get you in the door, if you are a relative, if you are wealthy and are able to bring money into the company, or the co. is able to use a tax credit/deduction by hiring you, your chances are slim to none, and slim might have left town.
If you have to go through this for a temp agency what a hoax, temps are temps, and then there are next to nothings, then nothing. NO JOKE!!!

@mexmax101 i have been in the position you are, if you want to get that interview call you have to be assertive, when you turn in the application, make sure you are dressed nice but not as if you are going for an interview, just presentable, next when you turn in the application ask for the manager and hand it to them directly, this shows that you are interested, the next step is CRUCIAL!!! --after a few days, go in and follow up on the application, it shows them you are putting in effort

In other words, befriend more people- and more importantly, diversify the groups of people that you associate with. If you only associate with unsuccessful people, then don't expect to get a "hook-up" for a great job. :-)

My sister was in the same boat as you, but when she couldn't even get interviews she went to a website called supremecv (eventually after lots of searching) and got a job within two weeks. She got three interviews and two offers. You have to think outside the box my friend.
