  • Does Anyone Knows The Lyrics To This Song?.

  • Once upon a time a witch loved stories galore,

And greedy as she was she wanted more and more.

The witch saw that the librarian had stories of all kinds,

She said, "I'll capture you all your stories will be mine!"

There took place a curious chase through meadow tree and flower,

Til at last they ended up right at the witch's tower.

Now poor Marian the Librarian, a prisoner she'll stay,

Until the witch is happy and lets Marian go away.

  • Correction in the 2nd stanza: "When she saw that the librarian had stories of all kind"

  • @embo500 Hooray for Marion, now she's free.

Hooray for Witch Kerfumbly, Off they go so merraly.

On their way to the library.

And you can take some books home too.

There's a library card for you.

    Join Marion and Kerfumbly.

    Come along to the library.

  • @StefanoFan27 How the lyrics to this song on the last episode?

  • Wow, Memories Of My Childhood.

    "Sobs".

  • I watched this in kindergarten in Bridgeport, NE in 1977-78. Jay Barnica always laughed when the witch fell over.

  • I'm Still Inqurining About Other Old PBS Intros, Like, Star Lore And I-sland Treasure. So If Anyone Remembers These Two Old PBS Shows, Put Either One Of Them On Here, Thank You.

  • I have been trying the remember the name of this show for years! Best show ever!

  • wow. brings back memories.

  • Man I love this song and I miss this show, I still remember sitting in front of the TV At The Farmhouse In Canton, South Dakota And Watching This Show, And Many Others, Like Mister Rogers's (r.i.p) Neighborhood, Shining Time Station, Sesame Street, And A Host Of Others. I Hope That Someday My Children Will Be Able To Watch This Show And The Others.

  • God I Miss This Show.

  • Okay - I watched this show in kindergarten in Springfield, NE. I don't remember it scaring me when watching it, but I have nightmares about the witch to this day! Is a show about kidnapping librarians appropriate for 5 year-olds.

  • I Was Wondering, Is There Any Clips Of Two More Old PBS Shows, One Is About A Pirate And A Genie, And They're on An Island, And There's This Head-Person That's Giving Them Assignments. and The Other One Is About An Alien And A Libarian, And The Alien Wanted The Libarian To Help Her (the alien) Children Read. So If Anyone Remembers Those Two Old PBS Shows. Put Them On Here. I Would Like To See Them Again.

    Thanks.

    StefanoFan27.

  • I believe the space one was called Star Lore, but I want the name of the one with the pirate and the genie! Oh man its been a long time since I saw that one...anyone know it?

    Thanks.

    StefanoFan27. :-)

  • I Still Wish That Shows Like This One And Many Others, Such As, Shining Time Station, Storylords, Square One TV, OWL TV, Newton's Apple, Bill Nye The Sciance Guy, The Letter People, And Most Of All, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego. And Captain Kangaroo Too.

    StefanoFan27. :-)

  • I have been looking for this for I don't know how many years. Thank you!! One of my favorite PBS shows growing up in small town south dakota.

  • Which Part Of South Dakota were you from?.

    StefanoFan27.

  • Frederick... it's about 25 miles north of Aberdeen.

  • Witch Kerfumbly is my mom. She was also Queen Tabiblia (the blue haired lady with the silver clothes) in Star Lore. She thinks its great that people remember these shows.

  • Wow that's funny because the lady who plays Marion the librarian is MY mom! We should so get them in touch again! I bet they'd love to talk again after all of these years!!

  • I remember watching this at school in Omaha, NE. Does anyone remember a show with a woman who wore a silver outfit, it looked like tin foil, and she wore a blue wig and there was a computer in it. Those were the good ol' days! We need to bring Marian the Librarian back! Such great memories!

  • Yeah she used to put stuff in a computer/machine and it would make a book out of them.

  • I watched this show in Ayr,Nebraska in kindergarten. I was telling a friend about this yesterday and he had no idea what I was talking about. Now I know why. I thought I'd never find it again!

  • Is this the show where she talked with a computer called 1z 2z?

  • OMG! I remember watching this in SD!Its too bad that PBS won't air older shows like this.

  • I Think That Witch Lookslike Two People, The First She Lookslike The Wicked Witch Of The West From The Movie "The Wizard Of OZ" and She Also Lookslike Tabitha Lennox From the Soap Opera "Passions".

  • Wow. I Watched This Show In Canton, South Dakota. and It Came On Right Before The Letter People. Man I Wish That TPTB Would Still Keep Old Shows Like This On PBS. And Maybe Bring Back Old Shows Of Shining Time Station Too, Long Ago & Far Away. And Some Others.

  • Thanks Kennedy! I grew up in ND...and rememeber watching this show in the early 1980's.

    Tell your mom "hi!"

  • I watched this growing up in ND, too, and have often thought of this show. I would love to see other episodes again! It brings back wonderful memories. My one memory is of the time she put straw into the machine. If anyone finds access to these episodes, please post it!

  • I loved this show! Does anyone remember a show about cowboys and a saloon where they all read? It was on right after this, I think.

  • Belle Lettre's Story Saloon

  • This was my favorite show when I was little!! Thank you so much for posting it!!! It gives me chills to watch it after all these years.

  • Oh wow, I absolutely loved this show when I was a kid. I have been looking for this for a long time, thank you so much for posting it. I even remembered the words to the opening theme song all these years. The two actresses kept a lonely kid company, and they really inspired me to cultivate my love of reading.

  • Hey Gang! I saw all your comments that you were excited about this video, and I happened to have a small clip of this show, so I've uploaded it (see video responses). I also posted a few other things I recorded off South Dakota Public TV, like Draw With Me, Tales in a Treehouse and this weird geography show. Check them out!

  • THANK YOU!!! I have been racking my brain trying to remember the name of "the treehouse show... with the artist who read part of a story while he drew an illustration to go with it... then he'd make me nuts by quitting right at a REALLY good part!" Ah... I loved that show. :-)

  • Yeah, I all of a sudden thought of this show and had to look on Youtube. Born in Lincoln NE myself, 1983.

I think I even see you Brian. Weird we both found this video on Youtube in the span of 24 hours.

  • Right on. Not quite sure what you meant by "I think I even see you Brian" - can you clarify?

  • I said that because I made the assumption you're the Brian I know. So I was surprised to see you commented on a video I was looking up.

  • Awesome, I had hoped I might find something of this on youtube. I grew up in Lincoln, NE and was born in 1980. I remember this show but only vaguely, seeing the intro certainly brings back lots of memories. Anyone know if it has an imdb entry? or are there any other clips around of the show itself?

  • Good grief, I very much remember watching this show on North Dakota's PBS affiliate when I would be home from school sick. Can't believe I actually found a posting of this!

  • I used to luv this show..Man this brings back memories! I think was only 6 or 7 y/o but i had a crush Marian..LOL. It was a simplier time :) Who remembers Reverse the Curse, The lady in the tree house, or Letter people.

  • I Remember Watching This Show On Public Television In Canton, South Dakota. And I Also Have A Crush On Someone Too. And His Name Is Schemer (from another pbs show, "Shining Time Station". I Wish Someone Would Put Some Episodes On Here.

  • Thats funny because my MOM is the lady who she traps in the castle! Have you showed these to your Grandma? I showed my mom and she got a kick out of watching herself again. My dad is the one who filmed it as well. Where are you from? I'm in Omaha, Ne where it was filmed. If you ever want to chat sometime about it send me a private message and maybe we can exchange emails! :)

  • Oh I remember this! I grew up southeast of Fargo ND and this was on prairie public tv in the afternoons! I loved kerfumbly.
