You wouldn't happen to be able to do a segment on the intro of this song, would you? Your annotations are always great for big pictures, plus that intro is so ominous... it's more of the Fee Fi Fo Fum than the head is!
It's easy to find good players, but near impossible to find someone who truly wants to share their knowledge and experience. It seems talented musicians fall into two categories: egotistical self-indulgent showoffs and passionate mentors who are willing to bring anyone and everyone along for the ride, it is quite obvious to everyone here which one you are. Good advice, and great playing.
fantastic playing' Is it possible that you can show me when and how to apply those runs??They sound like they are being played in a minor key. I s that correct?? Looking forward to your reply tHANKS A lot Theo
Listen to the original by Wayne Shorter over and over - immerse yourself in each player's performance until you can sing each part note for note. Then apply your own musical vocabulary over the form of the song to construct a meaningful improvisation. Developing a musical vocabulary for me involves playing what I like to hear. If I can really hear it, then I can understand it and can figure-out how to play it. It won't make much sense trying to speak a language if you don't understand it first.
Nice one Roger! Fantastic playing! Swinging all the way! Some very tasty things! Always musical! I hope to post a few more - its been too long. I hope you are well and look forward to more of your posts! All the best! -Wayne
hey man, this is a fantastic video. love your touch and the solo's great. just wondering what backing tracks you're using and where i can get my hands on them?
too right re. musical time machine. i'm doing my uni finals dissertation on wayne shorter - what a dude (although i particularly love his more recent work). great solo there too!
This channel is the best jazz resource I've found so far on the internet for the piano. Please keep doing this! You rock! (are you a professional piano player or you do this just for fun?)
The MIDI keyboard was generated using a program written by PGMusic called PowerTracks Pro. It was resized for better visibility using the video editing program Adobe Premiere Elements.
I really enjoyed this Roger - I find it such a difficult tune to convincingly improvise over as you do here, and I appreciated the advice you give in the 'About this video' above. The midi keys view is excellent with no 'drop -outs' - could you explain how you did this? What software?
Roger, I revisited this, and you are so on to something here. This is the fullest expression of your talent that I have heard, and that is saying something!
Yah man, I hear ya. I might pull a VVBGR and video response on this one. You should too! Roger, this is such a good tune. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the album.
It's clear you have this tune in your bones. What is most interesting is that you have played in a different style than is usual for you. You use fatter notes further behind the beat with more space in between. This is really 'of the period'. Wow! This knocks me out, Roger.
I'm loving it!!! Great upload...one of my favorite tunes by Wayne Shorter...woo-hoo!

asked about the midi-keyboard.
Is this a special version of vanBasco
or another software ?

How do you add that ?
And thank for the beauty ♥
