  • what the general public does not understand is that the beach is not the pool. If your not a good swimmer then you have no business swimming on the ocean. always have a footing on the bottom and don't swim past chest level, yet people continue to do so.Being a good swimmer in the pool will never ever make you a beginner swimmer on the beach, not by a long shot.

  • ok if your in the ocean and you get caught i a rip current just ride it out to behind the waves (which isn't really that far) then swim around the around the surf to shore. and there will be surfers out there if your at a populated beach so it's not like your alone.

  • 0:45 cooler knocks out swimmer...swimmer drowns.

  • Surfers love rips. Its a free ride out to the deep.

  • @BADqrl

    me 2

  • Just Found Out What They Were Today. GREAT INFORMATIONAL Video

  • Great video. I have it featured on my squidoo . com site about rip currents. Excellent!

  • Did you hear that folks? Barnies? Dumbshits? If you are a NONSWIMMER you have NO business (whatsoever) in a surf environment. This means if you cant swim STAY ON THE SHORE! It doesnt mean its ok if you have arm floaties on youre safe. It doesnt mean its ok if you rented a foam board from Jack's or if you bought a boogieboard from walmart youre safe. IT MEANS STAY THE FUCK OUT OF THE WATER!

  • my dad told me the story when he got caught into one of these. this was before i was born, he swam to the left and ended up getting cut by the spikes on the poles under the pier. he still have the scratchs to this day. THANK GOD HE SURVIVED OR I WOULDN'T BE HERE!!!

  • I've been caught i a rip current. Scared the beejeesus out of me. I got rescued by a surfer.

  • RIP Current = Rest In Peace Current !!!

  • Watch out for the undertoad!

    /Garp

  • what if the riptide is 1000km wide x 200km long?

  • @Polyron there is no such thing as a rip current that big >.<

  • @Polyron... fossil formation after hundreds of years....

  • Great information to learn and have when visiting the beaches.

  • I remember when I was caught in one, I was caught with a brother and a sister... They were freaking the fuck out. While I was calm. The brother grabbed on to my body board, and was kicking really fast. But then, the dumbass lets go of the board... It's like, do you want to die? Fuck... XD

And then the lifeguards came and everything was swell. :D

  • I'm a non-swimmer, but I can't resist going out into the waves 'cause it's so much fun!

  • @MishuTaste Ever heared of Adult Swiming lessons?

  • @holthuis12 I have & I've taken several swimming lessons. I think I'm going to have to teach myself how to swim. My body was designed to sink in water.

  • im so sure ill have a helicopter to get a sky view to recognise a ripcurrent in the water before i get in. fucking dumbass, u cant see that shit while in the water.

  • what is a rip current

  • I saw someone trying to rescue ther brother in a rip current and they dief

  • @darksilence767 dief?

  • If there isn't NO lifeguard.... then your fucked! xD

  • They sound fun, I'd like to be caught in one

  • the reason people swim into the rip current is that they think they will be taken too far from shore to swim back. so they fight to get to safety ( the beach ) it doesn't carry you out that far. if you can't swim a couple hundred feet. then you should wear floaties.

  • @whyszguy NO NO NO!! You should NOT wear floaties unless you want the world to know you are a dipshit who cant take swim lessons. Just go the the fucking Y and take swim lessons before you EVEN go to the beach.

  • That is what I did. I was lucky

  • its fun being caught in one =p

  • lol at 0:45 the guys would have hit him with the cooler

  • @Beef024

Thats kinda the point. So when he dies, at least he is blacked out before it happens. DUH

  • Comment removed

  • @Beef024 Who brings rope (0:45) to the beach.LOL.

  • awesome, yeah you really do need to the ocean before going to the beach, can't swim, then leave no more nothing less, I know I was in strong rip current, know the rules know the surf and always swim with a buddy emphasis on all of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Non-Swimmer = no business in the surf... Take it from an Aussie, this is good advice. I have seen too many tourists being taken out to sea on the Gold Coast. It is a beautiful place, just stay between the red and yellow flags.
