  • having this done tomorrow... O_O

  • no the healing was only a few days but my gums looked like chared meat for awhile

  • Couldn't comment on the frenectomy since it wasn't allowed, so for the FRENECTOMY do you need anesthesia ?

  • @BrunetteDarling local only... you wont go nitrous or any of that.. btw, I really really like laser dentistry <3. I'm saving for a picasso lite.

  • i have gingival hyperplasia abd had this done several times i also had the less modern version where they put you to sleep and cut the extra gum off

  • @MrEpicness09 was the healing process/time long?

  • Does this hurt???

  • @katara244 No, they put anesthetics in your gums to prevent you from feeling anything. You don't even feel pressure. I'm a weenie when it comes to pain. Getting my ears pierced was the most painful experience of my life. A gingectomy doesn't even compare.

  • So if my smile contains too much gum, i do this and i'll have a smile with less gum???

  • @katara244 Yes, I had very small teeth and got a gingivectomy for it.

  • do that burn ?

  • How can I get my gums as white as her's? Mine have been beet red for 22 years.

  • @btopishere Floss

  • Hi, I had an injury on the upper part of my frontal teeth and the gum there has been destroyed. Is there any way to make the opposite prosedure? No to reduce but increase the gum. Thank you!

  • I had this done today along with my molars taken out. I was put to sleep first because I'm a whimp when it comes to pain. I have braces and it was my orthodonic's idea to have the gingivectomy done. My gums squeezed together as the spaces in my mouth closed up creating extra gum tissue in areas not needed. I now have to get vaneers once my braces are removed. All this has me close to $15,000 without insurance. Unfortunetly, dental work is not cheap.

  • I THINK THIS PATIENT NEED´NT A GINGIVECTOMY

  • I think I am a candidate for gingivectomy but also need braces Should I get braces before proceeding to do a gingivectomy? Can someone let me know. thanks.

  • @mozfreak84 wait till ur ortodontic work is done

  • Im worried about this :[ I might have to get this done with my molars and was wondering how painful the procedure is?

  • @enjoiskater1221 modern medicine is pain free...u'll feel a slight discomfort and that's all

  • @enjoiskater1221 why would you need a gingivectomy in the molar region?

  • This is an excellent video of the procedure - I recently had a fibrous tumor removed from my gums (I filmed the procedure myself - see the video on my posts) and I'm considering gingivectomy after the gums heal. Thanks for posting!

  • A gingivectomy is a periodontal surgical procedure which includes the removal of gingival tissue in order to achieve a more esthetic appearance and/or functional contour.
