  • So easy a woman can do it!

  • nice, but this small piece will not stretch enough to hold by light in the corner,i have tried with some bike panel and it did not work,i also tried to use few pieces but you will not match pattern of wrap

  • What color is that di-noc in the video? black or charcoal?

  • @MrSirDubstep It is black, CA-421

  • wow..... 0_o no shit!

  • I just finished up installing this same stuff on my 06' SV650S. the whole bike. Loved the finish alot. Unfortunitly my supplier didn't inform me about 3M 94 primer is a must! Its lifting in tight valleys. Like bubbling up. I push them down and then lifts back up. Heating up helps but then back up. Besides re-do any ideas? Also I didn't trim as tight, I wraped edges and glued to back side with headliner glue. Was affraid high wind might lift up.

    Thanks for any help

  • I wrinkled up a sheet even worse than that last night because I was getting mad and it still wrapped nicely.

  • Wow so i take it this stuff is pretty easy to apply and take off without damaging paintwork the way that woman was slapping it on...

  • This gives me an idea as see some wrinkled pieces being discarded at the accessory shop.

  • I would never let that lady get near my car with that stuff.

  • I have this material applied to my car, but after a few days I get air bubbles forming at the sharper curves.

  • Hey there, how workable is this product? I would like to wrap intercooling pipe in it but the tricky part is obviously the pipe curves in both planes... the circular shape of the pipe itself along with the circular pipe having bends in it (imagine a bendy straw). WOuld it be possible to apply such a product to such a complex shape?

  • @DOHCta I think it would definitely be possible, just depends on the diameter of the piping though. We've seen people do a motorcycle helmet, motorcycle exhausts, etc. It may not be easy, but thy were able to do it.

  • @CarbonFiberGear Hello, you said that people have done on motorcycle exhausts, i been wanting to do mine but am affraid it would melt. what do you say? thanks in advance. Peter

  • @pichadop1986 We've seen installations on exhaust cans and have not heard of any issues...though I', not sure how it turned out over time. You could always try a small sample piece and see how it holds up after a few rides. 3M did heat testing, as you can read in our FAQ:

    Heat Testing

3M™ installed the material on an aluminum plate and left it in 150 degree (F) temperature for 28 days. There were no issues seen.

  • @CarbonFiberGear

you've got to be fucking stupid if you think thats a good idea warping heated parts with vinyl films.

  • @DOHCta sorry for being so late, but man, this is the only website you can find this amount of carbon fiber wrap for such low price. when i first sterted looking i was scared of the price first then i remembered the money will go down the drain if i dont put the wrap on incorrectly. but these guys' wrap is able to work again again and again.

  • @DOHCta

It won't stick. Any heat at all and the stuff looses adhesion. It is a crap product.

  • @PBart5616 This is not accurate. Whatever you tried installing on must not have been a surface area that works well. The product wouldn't be anywhere near as popular if it didn't adhere. Feel free to contact us directly and tell us more about the application you were trying to install on, and we can maybe give you some insight as to what the problem could have been.

  • Hey there, how workable is this? I am looking to wrap it around intercooler piping which curves in both planes ie the circular shape of the pipe PLUS the bends in the pipe. Would it be possible to use this for such a complex overlay? Would you lay it from the inside of the bend then use heat to stretch it on the outside of the bend or vice verse? I recon the finished product would be really effective, but just cusrious as to which way a professional would do it?

  • dude I would tottaly cover everything in this.. my car.. my truck... my house... furniture. the dog. everything.

  • @Aarius1972 hahaha the dog ... lol

  • @Aarius1972 Funniest comment i have read in a while :D

  • @Aarius1972 lmao... did you ever buy it? how it go? how's the dog doing?

  • can you put it on a trunk lid, then spray clear coat on it???

  • @DelSolRacer93 Check out our blog at CarbonFiberFilm to see how we experimented with clear coat.

  • Good god this should appeal to all of the honda civic and eclipse owners who want to add some more rice to their cars.

  • cool stuff. was this at SEMA? I was there n saw this...i got some samples. the wood n aluminum r super cool too. i'd so wrap my fridge with this stuff..

  • dislike

Its like putting a fake turbo whistler on your car.

  • @rtsoccerplayer It's used for many more applications than a car.

  • @CarbonFiberGear

yeah, its not just for cars, its for ANYTHING you want to *fake* the carbon fibre look on.. I think that's his point.. Yeah, you can also shrink wrap your garden shed in it if you like BUT ITS STILL NOT CARBON FIBRE.. if anything you just ADDED weight lol

  • @CarbonFiberGear like... a longboard :)

  • @rtsoccerplayer

totally! WTF?? its NOT carbon fibre, so dont make it look like it is.. and you can bet these people will be all like "yeah my cars all made out of carbon fibre now, look" .. dumbasses

I DO like the other vid (although cant find it now) where they use it to colour the whole car (a skoda, i think it was) - replaceable with ease, looks just like paint, cant be THAT heavy.. not that's a good idea, especially for race cars that get knocked about a lot

  • yeah try this with regular window tint...carbon fiber is so over rated

  • What are you talking about? They layed it over the light to show how it bends and forms. Not to keep it over the light for looks. you noob

  • I totally agree with bikerboomer, it's a good question...

  • This is a pretty sweet product, im just kind of curious about the heat making it reusable. Would the heat a car gets from the sun make it become less adhesive at all? what kidn of long term testing did you do on the effects of UV to the color, or adhesive properties? or is it just like standard 3m tape?

  • No, the sun won't make the adhesive less effective. As for the heat making it reusable, it was to get it back to a form for use and it will be fine for application. The adhesive sets up over several days if done properly by a professional installer. As for the color holding up 3M is saying it will for 4 years in most areas, 3 years in desert areas.

  • I make carbon parts and also I skin parts , but with real carbon cloth. I think nothing like the real thing as good as it may be. Is there 3M real carbon cloth which sticks on its back side? This I would like to try it on my work.

  • Good point, real carbon fiber is always better :) Though certain applications make it very difficult or very expensive, so this is a great alternative.

There is no real carbon cloth with a sticky back from 3M that we know of.

  • Thanks for your reply. I have seen a product in carbonmods webshop like I described which says its real, but I cant be sure. Its 3M too.

  • Do you have any video of these two actually completing the project or do they just keep peeling it off an putting it back on with more wrinkles?

  • These were just examples shown at a seminar, so it never was actually finished. You can see finished examples in our gallery at our CarbonFiberFilm website.

  • cool

  • This is the stuff i used to coat my Eee pc. check it out on my video. its really is great stuff. its also the most realistic carbon fibre vinyl i have ever seen. i think im going to use it to coat my phone aswell. its so scratch resistive and looks awesome
