  • Do you think this was an unpleasant episode?

  • all the times becky sounded off at her parents I was expecting they would have smacked the crap out of becky man DJ was nothing compared to becky if I would have talked to my parent they way becky did I would have gotten the crap beaten out of me

  • Why is DJ so ungrateful all of the time?? He really isn't a pleasant character.

  • how is she a "child beater" 0_0 ...she hit him with her hand...not an extension cord...hanger...etc

  • @xxUdroppdyoweavexx Totally, and I seriously doubt he would have any bruises from that spanking either.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 right!

  • Wow ive gotten hit wayyy worse than just a spanking... Its not a big deal

  • @nicolemarie0498 I hear that, when I was a kid my dad spanked me and my mom made me stand in the corner. And guess what? I would've preferred the spanking because it's quick and over with.

  • THIS EPISODE MADE ME CRY

  • How come DJ becomes the first child to be spanked, and out of anger, but Roseanne becomes the victim? And is there any significance to him being male? She's been much more violent to males this season.

  • @luno44 Darlene and Becky never stole the car, trashed it and 'forgot'. Becky DID steal Dan's motorcycle once but she was WAY past the spanking age.

  • earlier *

  • i would have rather seen becky get spanked seasons earler than dj in this episode

  • i wish my parents felt that sorry when I was getting popped on the butt, but now I appreciate it!!

  • dj reminds me of myself a bit my parents tried the time out even taking things out and spanking me but none of it worked coz everything I wrong even the all the time's I was late/missed school & there we're all unexcused so therefor sending my parents to court twice within a 12month period I owned to my family telling them everything I did wrong was a plea for there attention since they worked all the time all I wanted was there attention more time spent w/them & that's the best method to work:)

  • I would not be the person I am today, if I had not got my ass beat a few times. When a kid does something as bad as steal a car-wreck it & the cops get involved......I think Roseanne did the right thing, your first reaction is usually the right reaction.

  • 11:12 jackie saved dj from roseanne getting slapped in the ass

  • OMG, there is a very distinct differrence between beatin ur child n punishin em. If ur ending up wit black eyes, bruised ribs or such then yes report it but if u get spanked SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! I got hit when I crossed the line n I thank God everyday that I did. It kept me off the streets n taught me what was rite n what was wrong.

  • I think that most everyone is right here. DJ DID need his ass kicked. When it comes to the public, you can't mess around....And there ARE some episodes in which the others could have used a good whoopin themselves

  • I'd laugh that Nancy is so sickeningly easy to program if that trait wasn't at such epidemic proportions. :(

  • Oh, drama, drama, drama. People need to learn the difference between physical abuse and a good spank on the rear, also the difference between hurting a child and harming a child. They're not the same thing. And no, some brats will *not* respond to time-out. All of Roseanne's kids needed the good hurtin' spank more than once.

  • Roseanne kind of looks hot at the end, except when they cut to her lumpy butt. Still love her

  • DJ needed his ass kicked. There were plenty episodes where Becky should of had the teeth slapped out her mouth

  • @caramelistic That is a vile thing to say!!! To get a smacked butt like Dj did is one thing, but to get "teeth slapped out" just sounds terrible.

Roseanne was right to have smacked Dj, he did majorly wrong!!!! He also acted like a total brat about it all.

  • @caramelistic .i agree with you.Dj and all the kids on there needed to have their asses kicked for the things they did.and i completely agree with you that becky should have had her teeth slapped out her mouth.despite some people cry'n that it sounds too harsh.the way that girl would talk to her mother she deserved no less..and that is actually how my mom would describe it..or she would say..SHES GONNA SLAP THE TASTE OUT OF MY MOUTH LOL..

  • @caramelistic ..2nd half..i think its because people dont take the necessary steps to discipline their children and instead let them run crazy without any sense of consequences for their actions that kids are the way they are today.rude, disrespectful,selfish,self-absorbed,all around little assholes that are lacking in morals and ethics.there is a difference between physical punishment and abuse.refusing to punish in an appropriate manner only causes them more harm.

  • @spankie Absolutely right, I'm sick of hearing people scream abuse, there is a difference that these morons don't seem to see. I got spanked when I was a kid and I'm not a messed up adult, I got smacked a couple times too. Kids get out of line, when it gets let by, they are spoiled and disrespectful, when they are held accountable, they are better teens and adults for it. Today's unspanked generations have heads the size of blimps.

  • @RedGreyV Totally. It annoys the hell out of me when you point out spanked kids grow up and say they deserved it and they learned from it and it made them better people, these IDIOTS say 'victims of abuse don't realize it's abuse', bull, my mother WAS abused every day of her childhood and she knew it and knew it was wrong and she didn't do anything to deserve it. There IS a difference. Spanked kids don't go to therapy for trauma.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Absolutely right! The people who claim spanking is abuse are the same people who call a teacher a freak and a pervert when they hug a crying child. Things have gotten out of hand these days. It's so extreme to say spanking and beating are one in the same, beating leaves bruises, broken bones and blood, a spank leaves a red mark for about 10 minutes (if that). Spanking also does not cause a person to be violent, contrary to the anti-spanker belief.

  • @RedGreyV I'll say. My brother and I were both spanked, we were NOT violent as kids, now we knew a kid, NEVER spanked, and he could fly into murderous rages over any little thing, his friends never stayed long because he had a tendency to beat on all of them with whatever he had on hand.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Me too, spanking never hindered my ability to get along with people. The violent kids I knew in my school days were often spoiled children, I reckon they were the ones punished by "talking it out" and banished to their toy filled rooms...

  • @caramelistic Both Becky and Darlene shoulda had their teeth smacked out their mouths in a couple of episodes. But by Dan not by Roseanne.

  • thats what those kids needed a ass whoopen they tell her to shut up and say all kinds of crap smh she let them be too free

  • LOL... the end scene is a slap across the face of 'cops', which was at the height of it's popularity. People only want privacy for themselves and respect cops only when they are bothering others.

  • i couldnt disagree with mrpycco more, i think this episode is perfectly handled and that they had the guts to touch stuff like this made the roseanne show different, special and so important to the fans. that they where not closing out sad reality made it the great show it was. it is the reason i rewatch the show that i watched and loved as a kid and now get in aspects i couldnt really understand back then

  • @brotmann86 I agree with you. Roseanne is a sitcom but I loved this show because of its realism and dealt with real life issues and not all issues are funny. This show also showed wonderful acting and improv which I think is amazing! I watched this as a kid and identified with Becky and Darlene. Now as a mother I realize how wonderful Roseanne and Dan were as parents and I've become a parent like them instead of my parents whose discipline was too severe.

  • Such an important topic. I grew up with a father that sounds just like Roseanne and Jackie's- come home from work with a bad mood and completely lose control on me and my younger brothers. We got whipped with belts, wooden spoons, spatulas, extension cords. It was very brave of Roseanne to tackle this subject and I really admire her for it, though it is painful to watch.

  • @tylertyler82 Yeah me too. I'm sure this was hard for Roseanne but kids who grew up like us find this hard and so that's I think why Roseanne touched on this topic because it is a difficult issue. I've never hit my kids because I know I would end up beating myself up like Roseanne does here in this episode. I would not be able to live with myself. This show is so wonderful in every way and has dealt with almost every topic. No matter what the topic, Dan and Roseanne support each other.

  • LOL one of the funniest endings....

  • Roseanne had already "jumped the shark" by the time this episode aired, but this episode marks the point of no return. By this time, the show had become completely different from the earlier episodes. Roseanne had tackled serious subjects before, but this episode was just too serious and the acting too melodramatic. It just doesn't work with a sitcom.

  • @MrPycco well i'm gonna tackle you, you pa gd mf'n sob

  • @MrPycco this episode is a million times more engaging as a viewer than trying to it through 22 minutes of roseanne's mother moving into an old folks' apt complex. it also beats trying to stomach the dullness that is sarah chalke pantomime the role of becky. your rationale completely missed the mark.

  • i wish i could beat dj too !! lol

  • @cinchino you are welcome

  • Thanks for uploading!! Best show ever.
