Why doesn't the carrier and refueling vessel stop and anchor during refueling? It seems a lot less dangerous that way.

By basic training I'm guessing you mean how to shoot a rifle and maneuver through obstacles All sailors get a *basic* training since they need every man they can get in emergencies including non combat ratings.

@colo250 Yes you go through bootcamp first. After all, you are a sailor before you are a cook. Once you pass boot camp, then you go on to your schools that teach you your job. CS (cooks) school is located in Great Lakes, IL down the road from boot camp. Its a pretty nice set up. I've never been inside of it but I think the building is only a few years old.
