  • @Fluffypopcicle lol you again! I think you misunderstood me. What I ment was that Hendrix is what I call, an entry. I actually heard Hendrix ( his music that is. I knew who he was before) long after I started playing. Most people that start playing is influenced by Hendrix. I wasn't. I was influenced to become a musician by classical music, the thrash bands, prog bands, and japanese bands (not visual kei bands, they're gay). Mention a few then. 5 guitarists who are better than guthrie.

  • @1bol1 thats pretty much the same road i took, a lot of metal got me into playing but then i got into guys like becker and shawn lane, never played much hendrix or SRV though

  • The drummer is also amazing.

  • @luigibattista10 on drums is Atma Anur, original cacophony drummer. he also played for Jason's solo albums. he's a monster drummer!

  • i love it when the arpeggios kick in and the melody flows over it close to the end

  • WTF this guy can play !

  • love the whole tempo & I agree Friedman's solo adds that cacophony demension !

  • marty's solo in this song is soooooooo good

  • quit arguing like little bitches, we all are on this video to listen to an amazing musician, and if you dont like it fuckin listen to something you do like and quit starting drama like 13 year old girls

  • Solo at 3:20 is full of energy and very emotional at the same time.Love it)

  • Truly A gift from the worlds creations!

  • This video had 419 likes, I just had drop it one more, you know, just to make an even number. You know 419 + 1 = psh nevermind.

  • take it for what its worth its all good all around to much negativity he has done more than you all why not recognize the talent he had to offer

  • I year a lot of people talking jad jada about hendrix, let me tell you, something hendrix was an innovator, and yes he could have played more cleaner and sounded more virtuoso But he decided not To

  • Stop comparring Becker to Vinnie becker uses more whamming and more arpeggio oriented, moore is more as an alternative picking scaled shredder, but both ain't have macalpine,s andGreg howe's killer Tapping , jazz fusión proficiency not even close to Govan legattos

  • HENDRIX'S technique and playing were not innovative at all. There were classical, flamenco, blues, and jazz players from the 1930's that make Hendrix look like a beginner. If you don't believe me I'll recommend some guys to listen to. He had an innovative tone (how he set up his gear and the way he used his equipment) but his playing was nothing special. And DON'T give me that "feel" crap. Jeez uneducated musicians are annoying.

  • @skolnick14

There isn't really anything special about Beckers playing. Take the arpeggio sections out of his playing, and there really isn't much left besides fast runs. Yeah, he could play fast and pretty clean, but so can thousands of people. He's way overrated. Far too many guitarists think arpeggios are the be all and end all of guitar playing. Vinnie Moore's technique on minds eye is far superior to Becker. Just as fast, far cleaner and way better vibrato, and not full of cliche arpegs.

  • @jakethegimp2 I wasn't talking about Becker. Everyone was discussing Hendrix so I decided to put my two cents in. But I agree, Vinnie Moore is my favorite guitarist. Although the maze is my personal favorite.

  • @skolnick14

Couldn't agree more about Hendrix. Yeah the maze is damn fine too. So many guitarists now seem too impressed by fast sweeps and don't want to look any further. Vinnie Moore is ridiculously underrated, probably because he didn't fill his tracks fully of sweeped cliched arpeggio patterns, likewise with Greg Howe. Most people will never hear of people like Alex Sk because he doesn't do the neo classical sweep thing in every solo. Tis a real shame that's all that seems to impress now

  • @skolnick14

I just listened to NNY by Vinnie and the technique on that is way above Beckers, but above all it doesn't rely on long basic arpeggio patterns and power chords. Vinnie does a far better job of making a real tune, his tracks are usually structured more like real songs with memorable solos. Many of Beckers seem like one long mindless shred - just filler around a rearranged arpeggio pattern from his previous track. I just hate the 'ooh fast arpeggios' this guy is god bollocks.

  • @jakethegimp2 What made you think I was one of those people? I don't own any of Beckers music. And yeah sweep arpeggios are just what people do when they can't think of an original or interesting way to outline a chord progression. Or they are just used as an excuse to show off.

  • @skolnick14 Infidel!! What's wrong with showing off? If you have the skill, USE IT.

  • @BelethRising because music is about making pleasing sounds, not displaying skill. But I LOVE to shred, and I love players that shred. I just think sweep arpeggios are overused and stale.

  • I listened to Guthrie Govan...thought WOW this guy is amazing. Then I remembered a name, Jason Becker. Searched him, and thought WOW THIS GUY IS GOD

  • People who think shred is all about speed should listen to this song from 3:20

  • Uh, what's with his hips in the pic? Did they HAVE to fit behind the guitar for some reason? O_o

  • damn

  • I hate LGD. I had been playing guitar for like 5 hours straight and then i decided to play jason becker. My left and right hand had been resting on my guitar until i decided to type this...virtuoso

  • underrated as FUCK

  • da best

  • @captainyamato1995 I am already admitting that Jason and Marty are my Masters. Them and Master Paul Gilbert. If I can aquire ANYTHING from music, it would be the ability to play this stuff, so I could grab a small amp, and my Ibanez guitars, and shred it right in front of Master Jason, he has a very hard life as it is, I'd love to make him happy by dedicating the peformance entirely to his legacy,

  • Holy Sh*t i think i just discovered a main Influence of Paul Gilbert

The early Paul Gilbert that is 1988 to 1992

  • @Zappafan1980 uh...wait...nevermind...

  • that riff is so heavy

  • I don't really see the need to bash Jimi Hendrix. People don't seem to realise that he is one of the most revolutionary guitarists of al time. And someone who thinks Jason Becker is better than Jimi Hendrix because he couldn't shred, you're not getting what music is about. Anyway, Jason Becker is, in my opinion, the absolute master of sweeping. He's amazing at everything else, but him and Marty done things with sweep picking that's just, scary.

  • wicked song rock on

  • Jimi is dead no disrespect Mr.Hendrix but Jason is still very much alive and still making awesome music!

  • I think its just plain unfair to be comparing two guitarist of different generations like that. And further more would Jason even be playing guitar if it weren't for Hendrix?

  • @GuitarIsMyCrack Yes, yes he would.

  • @GuitarIsMyCrack most likely

  • @TanMan97 You must not realize Jimi Hendrix's heavy influence on his generation of guitarists...

  • @GuitarIsMyCrack

I think he would still play guitar... I mean that sentence makes no absolute sense... It's like asking if Becker would play if Hiroshima hadn't been nuked. It's the butterfly effect.

  • God the ending arpeggios by marty with jasons lead over it is so f-ing beautiful, cant get enough

  • How the fuck can you NOT love jason becker, his melodies, his skill were so far ahead of every guitarist of this time man. The dude fucking breathed music. So fucking cut the day i heard he got ALS, i ended up, learning this whole album as a tribute.....took me 2 years goddamit.

  • @cacophony1 did it seriously take you 2 years? how long did you play every day cause i want to be at his playing level

  • @cacophony1 I think over 95% of everyone reading your comment would absolutely kill to be able to play that album in just 2 yrs lol. Respect. ;-)

  • @1madaboutguitar id already had been playing for 4 or so years dude! fuck getting this album down in 2 years would be hectic!

  • i nearly gave up playing when i saw the guitar pro tab for this

  • everyone told me no one is perfect, tell that to jason beckers guitar playin

  • from 3:19 onwards just made my day

  • @sniperviper91

    same here !

  • JASON ES D I O S

  • 3:20 that´s marty friedman playing

  • dude.....just gotta love the part from 2:54

  • he and malmsteen are my heroes

  • What a gift form the god(jason)

  • too smoothe

  • best guitar player ever...

  • Let's stick those 4 people that disliked this song into the Temple of the Absurd.

  • I will pay through the nose to see a video of him playing it on the recording studio!!

  • Better yet, name a song where Hendrix outshreds this for even at least a few seconds. And don't give me that bullshit about feeling either. This piece has loads of it too.

  • @soulleskill

    ...Nop

  • @soulleskill jimi hendrix...MUCH DIFFERENT...music isnt a competition

  • @gibsonlp1102 hes a better artist with better music.

  • @soulleskill TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSIC...IF YOU DONT APPRECIATE JASON's MUSICICIANSHIP AND SONGWRITING..THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU LOOKING AT THE VIDEO??...Hendrix has one style of music...Becker has another....Becker cant play like hendrix...hendrix cant play like becker....you have to be a pretty big dumbass to not understand that....just enjoy the music....and dont get me wrong i love hendrix....and becker...and many others....so stop comparing them

  • @gibsonlp1102 Right on!

  • @gibsonlp1102 your mom kid, YOUR MOM!!!!!

  • @gibsonlp1102 lol every one can play hendrix not the same for becker... hendrix was a really bad guitarrist it happenn people at that time had never seen someone smashing a guitar on stage rather then that he was nothing... just noise sometimes

  • @elvisPTpor you sound like one of those know nothing shredders with no feel that will go nowhere in life...no offense

  • @gibsonlp1102 no im not .. yes i can shred but thats because im a classical guitar studen too so playing electric guitar happens to be easier for me but at the same time i have an ear training that most of the people who just play electric and know almost nothing about music theory dont have so when i listen to hendrix i dont feel like im enjoying it its just not my scene and knowing what i know i can tell u that almost every guitar gods magazines create are some of the worst

  • @soulleskill hahahahaahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahha...i swear to god..u r the most funniest person evvvvveeerrrr...hendrix better..hahahahahahahhahaha..thats nice bro.....

  • @himadioah your not funny

  • @soulleskill of,course man..you are.....

  • @soulleskill could hendrix play this??? i love hendrix but maybe a bit over rated.dont get me wrong, he definatly had some musical talent. but THIS is PURE MUSICAL GENIOUS!!!

  • @soulleskill dude..its a total different genre from jimi.

  • @soulleskill HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @soulleskill Definitely not

  • @soulleskill hahahahahahahahhahahahhhaha!!!!!!!!

  • @soulleskill never u pig

    oink

  • @soulleskill son diferente estilos no compares

  • @soulleskill I just cum with my earholes

  • @soulleskill Suck my dick. The fucking stupid people of today

  • @Marcosgroso07 Fuck, I know right? When have you ever heard Jimi or B.B. play anything else besides a pentatonic scale? Then there's Becker with his Hirijoshi, Gypsy, and Algerian scales haha. I mean come on, it's clear who is the better out of the two.

  • @NailsForDinner dont compare jimi or bb to BECKER...

they are ALL MASTERS in their own way. BB has vibrato to die for, hendrix was a freak of nature by soul, and becker was a master of phrasing/classical

  • @soulleskill I think Jimi Hendrix is well overrated.

  • @samuraichickdude lol. People thinking Jimi Hendrix is overrated.

    lololololol

  • @samuraichickdude ...YOU THINK JIMI HENDRIX IS FUCKING OVERRATED??? Sure this might sound more impressive to you, but you have to remember that in the 60's nobody had ever heard anything like Jimi Hendrix. If it wasn't for Jimi Hendrix, I have no doubt that music like this would not be around.

  • @TheDiscoQueen2 Jimi Hendrix is waaay overrated.

  • Respond to this video... Oh yeah and even if there was no Hendrix Eddie Van Halen still would have revolutionalized the guitar. So Hendrix isn't that big a deal.

  • @TheDiscoQueen2 Than you're dumber than you seem to be. You mindfucking, ignorant conservative assholes think that jimi hendrix is the beginning of solo guitar playing. MY ASS. In what point did Jason Becker need jimi hendrix? He has talent. Jimi who? Jason mastered guitar like nobody in the world except maybe Shawn Lane. Where do you hear jimi hendrix influence in Jason's playing? Jason was influenced by Classical music, not old hippy whining so-called-master jimi hendrix.

  • @TheDiscoQueen2 Then you're just as dumb as the rest of the Hendrix fanboys. ca.1400-Flamenco, ca.1500-Baroque, ca.1700-Classical, ca.1800-1900 Romantic, ca.1800-Jazz, ca.1930-Blues, ca.1960-Beatles (stole from Chopin), ca.1984-Yngwie. All that history of music and you think Hendrix played a big part. He only played a big part to the general public, the non musicians.

  • @1bol1 dont be such an elitist. Your thing about hendrix only playing a big part to the non musicians is wrong cause hendrix inspired even the likes of shawn lane. As well as other MUSICIANS. He appeals to musicians as well as non musicians.

  • @reaperofgenocide He may inspire Beginners but his music wasn't as great as it's said. He gets boring, just like Yngwie. He's far away from the best guitarist in history.

  • @1bol1 matter of opinion. I never find jb boring despite the fact he only has 4 full albums in his discogrophy. Technique wise, he's definetly one of the top all time.

  • @1bol1 thats all a matter of opinion. He has influence on all levels... beginners and advance players alike. Whether or not certain ppl heard hendrix while they were playing on a beginner level or started listening to him while they were playing on an advance level that depends on that individual's specific experience. And its no QUESTION that whether or not his playing gets "boring" is a matter of opinion. Theres no such thing as "the best guitarist" because everyone has their own opinion.

  • @reaperofgenocide LOL another excuse, sure opinion does matter but the best guitarist is a guitarist who is creative, innovative, original, emotional/soul and technnical. Hm... who could that be? *cough* Guthrie Govan *cough*. He has all which i listed. It's thesame thing with Lady Gaga, she has been listed the most influental person in the world. Who does she influence? IDIOTS. I mean do you really think that she was an outcast in high school that she didn't fit in. IT'S ALL MANUFACTURED.

  • @1bol1 you buggin. First of all there isnt some sort of machine that calculates who the best person in w/e field of art is. This is art... everything is permitted. It isnt mathematics where you can get an equation wrong. What sounds original or soulful to you wont be the same for everyone else. Thats why its a bullshit question to ask "who is the best guitarist?" because its a matter of opinion, not fact. Im sure you think theres a best color as well -.- ...

  • @1bol1

Go study some philosophy my friend. I think you will come out better for it.

  • @1bol1 fuck guthrie. i love him to death but if jason could still play...

  • @1bol1

How hilarious, Guthrie has stated Hendrix as an influence yet you state Hendrix only influences non-musicians and at the same time you are trying to argue how great Govan is. Guthrie is great, but there are a handful of guitarists that demolish him in those aspects you mentioned. Plenty of guitarists have all of the above.

  • Becker definitely can't play anymore because God felt threatened by his ability to play the guitar...

  • WHY has there been no officla accurate recorded guitar tab book?

OR why no musicians tabbed the album so Jason can get sales revenue?

  • @godparticles1 musicians that can play guitar at this level generally don't use tabs. I mean, there must be thousands of notes in this song. the tab for this song alone would be the length of a small book.

  • Becker VxS bieber see our vid vote now

  • @Earthpeeps dude, dont even mention that fags name . . . . . that name is a curse to all REAL musicians.

  • @TheHungryShredder1 u dont know music cause ur lameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee lame jerkoff

  • @soulleskill lame hmm . . . . says you, posting random shit to get attention :) jump off something above 25,000 feet high.

  • @Earthpeeps fuck u cock

  • 3:50 that made me cry

  • @23igna u must be really touched by his music? i can understand . . . . i play guitar . . and when i hear Jasons songs . . i go into a total recall of my purpose on earth :)

  • Awsome !

  • 2:54 on is absolutely untouchable holy shit

  • @lambgtr7 0:00 on is absolutely untouchable. hahaha!

  • Pickles

  • Marty Friedman actually played some of the solos on this track. They create pure badass-ness together! :D

  • 3 fudge-nipples crazy-ass mofos in a jug of peanuts disliked this..........they must be thrown into a bottomless pit of hell

  • @captainyamato1995 SPARTAAAA

  • @captainyamato1995

come on bro. there has to be a bottom... how else will they hit something? .... better a pit of countless pits eh?

  • @abrahamholguin what matters is that they'll keep falling for eternity...that is unless of course they admit that Jason is the master

  • Always loved the ending to this!

  • You can really hear the Marty Friedman influence in this one. Becker was a total gift to the musical world. Glad that he was able to share his talent before it was taken from him. 11 out of 10 stars!

  • Comment removed

  • This song rocks all fucking hole hollyshit WORLD! :D

  • This is amazing! Is it any wonder that one of the more metal sounding tracks was co-written by Marty Friedman?

  • @fajr1984 He didn't just co-write it, he also preformed on this song.

  • Wow.. 3 people listen to herman li

  • @discriminator23 just let it go, omg -.-'

Herman li, justin bieber, lady gaga jonas brothers etc

Youtube is one big Cliché ball

  • *face explode due to awesomeness*

  • This is my favorite instrumental song ever!

  • What for a desteny music was his live and no he can`t even play guitar so unbelivable unfair if is there a GOd in world i really don`t understand !!

he was and is still the best !!!!!

  • It's so awesome to see that he still composes. I've given up over ALOT less, but he is truly an example of a remarkable human being.

  • When I listen or watch him I am feeling extremely sad.. Why Jason ? Why one of the biggest talent of the World ? ..

Thank you Jason for your music ! We all love you!

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you Jason thank you!

  • Join Jason's web site you can talk too him! I Have alot he is so funny btw this album came out when i was born =)

  • @UrbanAssault5150 nice birthday present, eh?

  • Jason es Dios

  • @pegasuslover97 he can't play music anymore because he got this disease called ALS. He still composes music though.

  • Shwinnnnnng!!!

  • why can't he play anymore??

  • my top 10 shredders in no order: jason becker shawn lane rusty cooley MAB buckethead paul gilbert guthrie govan michael romeo jeff loomis yngwie malmsteen i feel like im missing somebody though...
  • @Fluffypopcicle marty freidman by anychance

  • @trviumfreaksam

yeah, him and chris broderick. oh, and chris impellitri too.

  • @Fluffypopcicle yo ur right all those guys can shred, but the trick is to be able to do it in a musically appealing fashion. people like andy timmons aren't technically impressive or nearly fast as the guitarists you listed up there, but check out "cry for you", it makes me re-think what an impressive guitarist really is. Jason Becker on the other hand has the best of both worlds, technically and emotionally, as do a couple of the guitarists you listed up there

  • @DustinDrums1

i agree with you, but are you saying shawn lane isn't musically appealing? check out esperanto by shawn lane and several others. shawn lane is master of melody, shredding technicality, and tone. plus a lot of the guitarists are musically appealing, you just have to acquire a taste for them like i did. R.I.P. shawn lane and long live good music.

  • @Fluffypopcicle nonono wasn't talking about shawn lane at all, i love mr lane (may he rest in peace)

  • @DustinDrums1

then who were you referring too? i often see people make mistakes by saying buckethead, MAB, and rusty are un-melodic (you just have to search beyond their most popular stuff to find they all have made beautiful music).

  • @Fluffypopcicle they are all talented, but i dono't think MAB belongs on that list of wonderful guitarists. everything i have heard of his sounds like it belongs in megaman. i like megaman music and all, but he has yet to give me goosebumps. I do enjoy watching his vids because of the impressive speed and technique, but as far as musically, i dont ever listen to his songs just for the music, unlike all the other guitarists you listed there.

  • @DustinDrums1

listen to 2x again, rainforest (after the intro), peace and some other songs. to me those highly melodic songs, but like i say, whatever floats your boat.

  • dude, do you know what you're saying? O: megaman has some of the greatest tracks ever to have graced videogame history

ive been genuinely moved, sir, by some of those lil tunes @.@

  • @XcaptainXobliviousX im in complete agreeance. megaman music has always been among the top of nintendo music, and i hold it very dear to my heart. which is why that wasn't a diss on MAB whatsoever, simply that i dont think he belongs in that list of guitarists

  • i can only really connect woth jason and marty´s music...

    gods

    GODS

    G-O-D-S!

  • just imagine what he could do if he could still play.....he would control time and space

  • @jimmyleppard6

    ...and even Chuck Norris.

  • @eLRomaro The god of all the overrated? Oh yeah

  • @jimmyleppard6 why h cant play anymore? sry for the ignorance ..

i am actually maiden ozzy and stuff fan but this musician opens more gates for my guiotarplaxing

  • @heavymedlarruti666 he got ALS. He can't move any part of his body anymore except his eyes. That's how he talks to people now. It's really sad. But he remains a guitar legend.

  • I've heard he's got the Lou Gehrig illness, he can only blink his eyes, no movement at all. Is that true????

  • @salvadorfazio ye shit happens he would be a top guitarist otherwise today

  • 0:40-0:47 is exactly like Tony Mac....

  • Are you referring to a specific song or you mean it generally sounds like Tony MacAlpine?

  • what song ?

  • This song is always worth a replay! I love this song. God bless you Jason!

  • THE GOOOOOD

  • Really hard to pick....(brrr...ummp bump!)but this is still my favorite Jason Becker song

  • Awesome!. This is my new choice for a cover song. Please come back and check it out. Dico
