@Fluffypopcicle lol you again! I think you misunderstood me. What I ment was that Hendrix is what I call, an entry. I actually heard Hendrix ( his music that is. I knew who he was before) long after I started playing. Most people that start playing is influenced by Hendrix. I wasn't. I was influenced to become a musician by classical music, the thrash bands, prog bands, and japanese bands (not visual kei bands, they're gay). Mention a few then. 5 guitarists who are better than guthrie.
@1bol1 thats pretty much the same road i took, a lot of metal got me into playing but then i got into guys like becker and shawn lane, never played much hendrix or SRV though
quit arguing like little bitches, we all are on this video to listen to an amazing musician, and if you dont like it fuckin listen to something you do like and quit starting drama like 13 year old girls
I year a lot of people talking jad jada about hendrix, let me tell you, something hendrix was an innovator, and yes he could have played more cleaner and sounded more virtuoso But he decided not To
Stop comparring Becker to Vinnie becker uses more whamming and more arpeggio oriented, moore is more as an alternative picking scaled shredder, but both ain't have macalpine,s andGreg howe's killer Tapping , jazz fusión proficiency not even close to Govan legattos
People HAD heard solo guitar playing like Hendrix before, just not the general public. Jazz players were playing stuff way more advanced and complex and more melodic decades before Hendrix even touched a guitar.
HENDRIX'S technique and playing were not innovative at all. There were classical, flamenco, blues, and jazz players from the 1930's that make Hendrix look like a beginner. If you don't believe me I'll recommend some guys to listen to. He had an innovative tone (how he set up his gear and the way he used his equipment) but his playing was nothing special. And DON'T give me that "feel" crap. Jeez uneducated musicians are annoying.
There isn't really anything special about Beckers playing. Take the arpeggio sections out of his playing, and there really isn't much left besides fast runs. Yeah, he could play fast and pretty clean, but so can thousands of people. He's way overrated. Far too many guitarists think arpeggios are the be all and end all of guitar playing. Vinnie Moore's technique on minds eye is far superior to Becker. Just as fast, far cleaner and way better vibrato, and not full of cliche arpegs.
@jakethegimp2 I wasn't talking about Becker. Everyone was discussing Hendrix so I decided to put my two cents in. But I agree, Vinnie Moore is my favorite guitarist. Although the maze is my personal favorite.
Couldn't agree more about Hendrix. Yeah the maze is damn fine too. So many guitarists now seem too impressed by fast sweeps and don't want to look any further. Vinnie Moore is ridiculously underrated, probably because he didn't fill his tracks fully of sweeped cliched arpeggio patterns, likewise with Greg Howe. Most people will never hear of people like Alex Sk because he doesn't do the neo classical sweep thing in every solo. Tis a real shame that's all that seems to impress now
I just listened to NNY by Vinnie and the technique on that is way above Beckers, but above all it doesn't rely on long basic arpeggio patterns and power chords. Vinnie does a far better job of making a real tune, his tracks are usually structured more like real songs with memorable solos. Many of Beckers seem like one long mindless shred - just filler around a rearranged arpeggio pattern from his previous track. I just hate the 'ooh fast arpeggios' this guy is god bollocks.
@jakethegimp2 What made you think I was one of those people? I don't own any of Beckers music. And yeah sweep arpeggios are just what people do when they can't think of an original or interesting way to outline a chord progression. Or they are just used as an excuse to show off.
@BelethRising because music is about making pleasing sounds, not displaying skill. But I LOVE to shred, and I love players that shred. I just think sweep arpeggios are overused and stale.
I hate LGD. I had been playing guitar for like 5 hours straight and then i decided to play jason becker. My left and right hand had been resting on my guitar until i decided to type this...virtuoso
@captainyamato1995 I am already admitting that Jason and Marty are my Masters. Them and Master Paul Gilbert. If I can aquire ANYTHING from music, it would be the ability to play this stuff, so I could grab a small amp, and my Ibanez guitars, and shred it right in front of Master Jason, he has a very hard life as it is, I'd love to make him happy by dedicating the peformance entirely to his legacy,
I don't really see the need to bash Jimi Hendrix. People don't seem to realise that he is one of the most revolutionary guitarists of al time. And someone who thinks Jason Becker is better than Jimi Hendrix because he couldn't shred, you're not getting what music is about. Anyway, Jason Becker is, in my opinion, the absolute master of sweeping. He's amazing at everything else, but him and Marty done things with sweep picking that's just, scary.
I think its just plain unfair to be comparing two guitarist of different generations like that. And further more would Jason even be playing guitar if it weren't for Hendrix?
I think he would still play guitar... I mean that sentence makes no absolute sense... It's like asking if Becker would play if Hiroshima hadn't been nuked. It's the butterfly effect.
How the fuck can you NOT love jason becker, his melodies, his skill were so far ahead of every guitarist of this time man. The dude fucking breathed music. So fucking cut the day i heard he got ALS, i ended up, learning this whole album as a tribute.....took me 2 years goddamit.

@TheDiscoQueen2 Than you're dumber than you seem to be. You mindfucking, ignorant conservative assholes think that jimi hendrix is the beginning of solo guitar playing. MY ASS. In what point did Jason Becker need jimi hendrix? He has talent. Jimi who? Jason mastered guitar like nobody in the world except maybe Shawn Lane. Where do you hear jimi hendrix influence in Jason's playing? Jason was influenced by Classical music, not old hippy whining so-called-master jimi hendrix.
@TheDiscoQueen2 Then you're just as dumb as the rest of the Hendrix fanboys. ca.1400-Flamenco, ca.1500-Baroque, ca.1700-Classical, ca.1800-1900 Romantic, ca.1800-Jazz, ca.1930-Blues, ca.1960-Beatles (stole from Chopin), ca.1984-Yngwie. All that history of music and you think Hendrix played a big part. He only played a big part to the general public, the non musicians.
@1bol1 dont be such an elitist. Your thing about hendrix only playing a big part to the non musicians is wrong cause hendrix inspired even the likes of shawn lane. As well as other MUSICIANS. He appeals to musicians as well as non musicians.
@reaperofgenocide He may inspire Beginners but his music wasn't as great as it's said. He gets boring, just like Yngwie. He's far away from the best guitarist in history.
@1bol1 matter of opinion. I never find jb boring despite the fact he only has 4 full albums in his discogrophy. Technique wise, he's definetly one of the top all time.
@1bol1 thats all a matter of opinion. He has influence on all levels... beginners and advance players alike. Whether or not certain ppl heard hendrix while they were playing on a beginner level or started listening to him while they were playing on an advance level that depends on that individual's specific experience. And its no QUESTION that whether or not his playing gets "boring" is a matter of opinion. Theres no such thing as "the best guitarist" because everyone has their own opinion.
@reaperofgenocide LOL another excuse, sure opinion does matter but the best guitarist is a guitarist who is creative, innovative, original, emotional/soul and technnical. Hm... who could that be? *cough* Guthrie Govan *cough*. He has all which i listed. It's thesame thing with Lady Gaga, she has been listed the most influental person in the world. Who does she influence? IDIOTS. I mean do you really think that she was an outcast in high school that she didn't fit in. IT'S ALL MANUFACTURED.
@1bol1 you buggin. First of all there isnt some sort of machine that calculates who the best person in w/e field of art is. This is art... everything is permitted. It isnt mathematics where you can get an equation wrong. What sounds original or soulful to you wont be the same for everyone else. Thats why its a bullshit question to ask "who is the best guitarist?" because its a matter of opinion, not fact. Im sure you think theres a best color as well -.- ...
How hilarious, Guthrie has stated Hendrix as an influence yet you state Hendrix only influences non-musicians and at the same time you are trying to argue how great Govan is. Guthrie is great, but there are a handful of guitarists that demolish him in those aspects you mentioned. Plenty of guitarists have all of the above.
@godparticles1 musicians that can play guitar at this level generally don't use tabs. I mean, there must be thousands of notes in this song. the tab for this song alone would be the length of a small book.
@23igna u must be really touched by his music? i can understand . . . . i play guitar . . and when i hear Jasons songs . . i go into a total recall of my purpose on earth :)
You can really hear the Marty Friedman influence in this one. Becker was a total gift to the musical world. Glad that he was able to share his talent before it was taken from him. 11 out of 10 stars!
my top 10 shredders in no order: jason becker shawn lane rusty cooley MAB buckethead paul gilbert guthrie govan michael romeo jeff loomis yngwie malmsteen i feel like im missing somebody though...
@Fluffypopcicle yo ur right all those guys can shred, but the trick is to be able to do it in a musically appealing fashion. people like andy timmons aren't technically impressive or nearly fast as the guitarists you listed up there, but check out "cry for you", it makes me re-think what an impressive guitarist really is. Jason Becker on the other hand has the best of both worlds, technically and emotionally, as do a couple of the guitarists you listed up there
i agree with you, but are you saying shawn lane isn't musically appealing? check out esperanto by shawn lane and several others. shawn lane is master of melody, shredding technicality, and tone. plus a lot of the guitarists are musically appealing, you just have to acquire a taste for them like i did. R.I.P. shawn lane and long live good music.
then who were you referring too? i often see people make mistakes by saying buckethead, MAB, and rusty are un-melodic (you just have to search beyond their most popular stuff to find they all have made beautiful music).
@Fluffypopcicle they are all talented, but i dono't think MAB belongs on that list of wonderful guitarists. everything i have heard of his sounds like it belongs in megaman. i like megaman music and all, but he has yet to give me goosebumps. I do enjoy watching his vids because of the impressive speed and technique, but as far as musically, i dont ever listen to his songs just for the music, unlike all the other guitarists you listed there.
listen to 2x again, rainforest (after the intro), peace and some other songs. to me those highly melodic songs, but like i say, whatever floats your boat.
@XcaptainXobliviousX im in complete agreeance. megaman music has always been among the top of nintendo music, and i hold it very dear to my heart. which is why that wasn't a diss on MAB whatsoever, simply that i dont think he belongs in that list of guitarists
@heavymedlarruti666 he got ALS. He can't move any part of his body anymore except his eyes. That's how he talks to people now. It's really sad. But he remains a guitar legend.
Google: NeoClassical Metal Forums for a great chat site on this genre. The site is dedicated to all the Neoclassical players ie Yngwie, MacAlpine, Becker, Tafolla, Vinnie Moore, Joe Stump, Friedman, Ziras, Gilbert, Impelleteri etc.
You can also share your opinions on gear, music theory/technique, rock music and life in general.

@1bol1 dont be such an elitist. Your thing about hendrix only playing a big part to the non musicians is wrong cause hendrix inspired even the likes of shawn lane. As well as other MUSICIANS. He appeals to musicians as well as non musicians.
reaperofgenocide 2 months ago
@reaperofgenocide He may inspire Beginners but his music wasn't as great as it's said. He gets boring, just like Yngwie. He's far away from the best guitarist in history.
1bol1 2 months ago
@1bol1 matter of opinion. I never find jb boring despite the fact he only has 4 full albums in his discogrophy. Technique wise, he's definetly one of the top all time.
torogami2 2 months ago
@1bol1 thats all a matter of opinion. He has influence on all levels... beginners and advance players alike. Whether or not certain ppl heard hendrix while they were playing on a beginner level or started listening to him while they were playing on an advance level that depends on that individual's specific experience. And its no QUESTION that whether or not his playing gets "boring" is a matter of opinion. Theres no such thing as "the best guitarist" because everyone has their own opinion.
reaperofgenocide 2 months ago
@reaperofgenocide LOL another excuse, sure opinion does matter but the best guitarist is a guitarist who is creative, innovative, original, emotional/soul and technnical. Hm... who could that be? *cough* Guthrie Govan *cough*. He has all which i listed. It's thesame thing with Lady Gaga, she has been listed the most influental person in the world. Who does she influence? IDIOTS. I mean do you really think that she was an outcast in high school that she didn't fit in. IT'S ALL MANUFACTURED.
1bol1 2 months ago
@1bol1 you buggin. First of all there isnt some sort of machine that calculates who the best person in w/e field of art is. This is art... everything is permitted. It isnt mathematics where you can get an equation wrong. What sounds original or soulful to you wont be the same for everyone else. Thats why its a bullshit question to ask "who is the best guitarist?" because its a matter of opinion, not fact. Im sure you think theres a best color as well -.- ...

Go study some philosophy my friend. I think you will come out better for it.

@1bol1 fuck guthrie. i love him to death but if jason could still play...
ImaDjentleman 1 month ago
@1bol1
Fluffypopcicle 5 days ago
Becker definitely can't play anymore because God felt threatened by his ability to play the guitar...
zoso4563 1 year ago
WHY has there been no officla accurate recorded guitar tab book?
OR why no musicians tabbed the album so Jason can get sales revenue?
godparticles1 1 year ago
@godparticles1 musicians that can play guitar at this level generally don't use tabs. I mean, there must be thousands of notes in this song. the tab for this song alone would be the length of a small book.

You can really hear the Marty Friedman influence in this one. Becker was a total gift to the musical world. Glad that he was able to share his talent before it was taken from him. 11 out of 10 stars!

Jason Becker on the other hand has the best of both worlds, technically and emotionally, as do a couple of the guitarists you listed up there
DustinDrums1 1 year ago
@DustinDrums1
i agree with you, but are you saying shawn lane isn't musically appealing? check out esperanto by shawn lane and several others. shawn lane is master of melody, shredding technicality, and tone. plus a lot of the guitarists are musically appealing, you just have to acquire a taste for them like i did. R.I.P. shawn lane and long live good music.
Fluffypopcicle 1 year ago
@Fluffypopcicle nonono wasn't talking about shawn lane at all, i love mr lane (may he rest in peace)
DustinDrums1 1 year ago
@DustinDrums1
then who were you referring too? i often see people make mistakes by saying buckethead, MAB, and rusty are un-melodic (you just have to search beyond their most popular stuff to find they all have made beautiful music).
Fluffypopcicle 1 year ago
@Fluffypopcicle they are all talented, but i dono't think MAB belongs on that list of wonderful guitarists. everything i have heard of his sounds like it belongs in megaman. i like megaman music and all, but he has yet to give me goosebumps. I do enjoy watching his vids because of the impressive speed and technique, but as far as musically, i dont ever listen to his songs just for the music, unlike all the other guitarists you listed there.
DustinDrums1 1 year ago
@DustinDrums1
listen to 2x again, rainforest (after the intro), peace and some other songs. to me those highly melodic songs, but like i say, whatever floats your boat.
Fluffypopcicle 1 year ago
dude, do you know what you're saying? O: megaman has some of the greatest tracks ever to have graced videogame history
ive been genuinely moved, sir, by some of those lil tunes @.@
XcaptainXobliviousX 1 year ago
@XcaptainXobliviousX im in complete agreeance. megaman music has always been among the top of nintendo music, and i hold it very dear to my heart. which is why that wasn't a diss on MAB whatsoever, simply that i dont think he belongs in that list of guitarists
