Instead of a plastic cap, you could try to make some sort of piston/cylinder so you can measure the force. Looks like a good way to produce motion. I know they do hydroforming of metals this way. I just wonder if it can be adapted to a motor for propulsion. Peace!
if the energy for the explosion comes only from elecricity, you don't need water because air or almost anything non-conducting can be used as a dielectric, and i can't understand how can water store a lot of chemichal energy...
Wait, if that is distilled water, then why is it conducting electricity? We all know that tap water conducts electricity; this is because there are electrolytes in the water that allow electron flow, causing the water to be "conducting" electricity. So if that water is pure water, then why is it conducting electricity?
its not conducting.its a dilectric failure!when water is non conductive it is a dilectric, and when the voltage is too high for a dilectrics rating, then it fails to hold the voltage back.
Its what Meyer called catastrophic failure of the dilectric ability of water
@nathanmarkbooth there is no chloride ions in the water-its distilled water, and the electrodes are tungsten-so where is the chlorine going to come from?
@tazein022 its very straight forward-the AC comes out of the NST into the rectifier-the DC comes out of the rectifier and into the cap-the discharge is a very basic switch that dumps the cap into the lid containing a short spark gap and water covering the spark gap-if you need any more than that feel free to send me a personal message with your email address
100% pure water microwaved in tempered glass to about 300 degrees or 200 i forgot what my teacher said
then throw in a spoon
BIG explosion
and yes they have filers for 100% pure they just filter it alot at this one place and he only explaned it he didnt actualy show it but hes my science teacher whom i got into ana rgument about black holes about sooo yeaa...
All you need to do is use a Pyrex container and a gallon of steam distilled water because it has no impurities. So you superheat the water past the 100 C required to boil it. Than throw some form of impurity into the water. It can be Sugar salt even a fork but salt works best. AND as you and i know its the impurities in water that allow it to boil.
ah ok i believe the application of HV to water is different than simply superheating it though, and its not just distilled water that will do it-my girlfriend has a scar on her arm from a pasta sauce that exploded when she tried to stir it after it got superheated in a microwave
Water boils because of the Impuritys in it... Steam distilled water u can buy from any supermarket is free of them so IE no boiling... Ucan keep applying heat until something is introduced to the water such as Salt or a dirty fork
@XxbeouwulfxX so...if it doesnt boil, then does it not do that phenominon, latent heat i think its called, which caps the waters temperature at 100 degrees celcius, would it just keep getting hotter?
@robertwc82 yes it would but once u add an impurity to the superheated steam distilled water such as salt... all of the energy in the water is instantly released in a violent explosion... now i must encourage u to not attempt this just watch the mythbusters do it.
@m3sca1...you thought wrong....or you didn't understand my question.....are you going to develop some kind of new motor based on this?...are you going to develop anything from this?..it's just a doubt...
a soon as i get distiled water i will try and mae a video, i also tested 2 200uf 360v in series and 480vdc works to so now im waiting for transformer 240vac to 1000vac and i will rectifie it to dc and put 3 capacitors in series and i think then i can explode any type of water if so i will try to put this in 1 cylinder generator and supply water mist from paint spray gun to intake and we see if it works then we have car running on water ! what do you think about this idea?
3 caps in series might be a problem. If you discharge them quickly and they aren't all exactly equal, one may end up charging backwards. If they are polarized then it might get damaged.
i have the same efect with 200uf /360v capacitor charged with 300vdc but i use salt water, i think its not enought o use in engine so now im looking for caps with higher voltage cheers from poland wojsciech
hi mate just a thought i use an induction motor as a alternator for my power source and spin it with another motor i like this set up as it give,s me more control over the current rather than dirty lecy from the grid, you can also tune the frequencey to a higher one that cracks the water with more intensity, ive also got a few variable frequency inverters off motor drives but trip with to much kick back, may be worth investing in a couple of motors, ten a penny in pomland, prob more in oz tho.
now mate did you get my message i will post a vid soon with my large hv cap 1800uf at 600vdc ive destroyed loasa diodes the same so i dug some out of a industrial hv inverter board think they must be few hundred amps, also think the voltage spike and powerful back emf can pop the diodes the same .i buy 1000v 3amp rectifier diodes for my bridge rectifiers as they are cheap and seem to last longer than the premade bridges just need to put a few in parallel, speak soon.
I've cooked MOT diodes with far less voltage than that so I'd imagine you're right! What I find interesting is how an arc appears in the water but it doesn't look like theres a gap there.
i have a 7.5 kV NST also -thats probably a better rating for the MOT diodes-im definatley thinking it was the kickback from the cap thats killed them-those diodes have been to hell and back-and its the 1st time ive ever destroyed any!
I go through diodes all the time, lol. I am using a 12 volt auto coil and points with a drill turning the distributor and the spark gap hooked to ground on dc side and coil output on other side. Then i have a inductor/ resistor that glows purple in the dark. Lastly I have the 110 vac wall current and motor starting capacitor running the positive lead to dc ground and neg ac thru diodes to the high voltage coil lead at the spark gap. Fun stuff. I am constantly burning out diodes though, lol.
its a 15kV NST thru a full wave bridge rectifier made from MOT diodes salvaged from old microwaves...not sure on the amps it takes to charge the cap....havent measured it
Great video, lots of power in that explosion there... how about a distributer cap discharging and just keep the electrodes under water in a big container , i bet it would give lots of gas... i got flammable gas with the little AA battery that pulse charged a cap, i can imagine what you can get with this
i could see every thing ,any way i would love to see this rig runnning on a high farad cap this is a great rig dont get me rong im just intrested in this also
i see the potential for a high energy to weigt ratio for such a machien
any way howabout trying it with caps simalar to phota flashers the are ultra farad caps ,they will nock you on your
ass ,must stop here i have to much to say ill hit you up on your channle
you asked about the cap rating its 3uF 1400v,also i want to comment about your idea of making a rotating flywheel with the effect-the theoretical upper limit of the speed of electric motors -with no magnetic drag-it should be possible to go as fast as the bearings will allow.
Microwave a cup of water for 5mins, take it out and throw a spoon in... now that's exploding water..

@salamence13 Actually, even 100% pure water is still slightly conductive. Nearly everything is SLIGHTLY.

plastic pipe for insulation =]
yes they are MOT diodes-at least they were .....i think kickback from the cap took them out...the NST still works but im not getting DC anymore.

3a 1000v. I just ordered 250 more, lol. I put them in series between the 110 vac capacitor and the high voltage dc spark plug.

What about a spark gap diode, can blow themout, all you should have to do is create aspark gap in between the HV and thecap to charge it DC.
