Another method of hiding price increases that you did not mention is larger packages that have disproportionately larger prices. Typically we ASSUME a larger package will have a at least slightly better price per ounce/pound/count (rate) but I have found several times recently a product has been packaged in a larger size such as a beverage previously in 16 oz cans for $1.95 each is replaced with a new 24 oz can for $3.50. The store owner even said "it's cheaper"
I get a kick out of people that bring their personal grocery bag to be responsible in some mind numbingly stupid way, as they stuff the bag with all sorts of processed packaged items.

James and James should read up a bit more before presenting there elaborate causality thesis about non private central banks. A privately owned central bank is very rare in continental Europe and for that matter the rest of the world.

When that figure gets higher than the 20% of their income like in the 1980s, we may have a lot of concerned people out there. 8 million Americans are 30 days behind on their mortgage, seems that most of them will drop their expensive mortgages to pay for food.
