Before the War of the Ancients and the creation of the Demon Soul (then called the Dragon Soul) his name was Neltharion the Earth-Warder. When he went insane, he came to be called Deathwing. Xaxas is the old Night Elf name for Deathwing after he went insane - roughly translated, it indicates concepts like 'destruction' and 'chaos'.

Actually,he doesn't have a mortal host,it's his human form.

The reason that in his human form he looks like a human with armor fused/melted on him is because that's probably his *combat* form,he can transform to any form (humanoid,at least) he wants.

Assuming that the only metal they could have used to patch Deathwing back together would be enchanted, perhaps it bound itself to his humanoid form as well. Thus, his humanoid form has a metal jaw because his draconic form has one as well.

I love Deathwing. He is the more BADASS boss ever in Warcraft. Illidan conquered Otuland, Arthas killed thousand of people...

But Deathwing killed MORE people in one time than Arthas in all his life.

Deathwing ALSO shattered the world and has a MORE powerful cult: The Twiligth Hammer.

I was curious what xaxas was or is and found out it's a darnassian reference to deathwing. It means (from wowwiki) "Xaxas" = A short title with many meanings, all dire. "Chaos, "fury", "The embodiment of elemental rage, such as found in erupting volcanos or shattering earthquakes", "elemental fury", "catastrophe". Often used to refer to the black dragon Aspect Deathwing.
