  • Hello formerparatrooper,

This beautiful video is extraordinarily realistic! I would like to know the name of "Her Majesty's ship: Captain Don, if the plan is available and where to buy it, because I am interested in building it. Thank you in advance for your reply. jccmodel

  • @jccmodele The ship is a kit model from SC&H in Palo Alto California, he does not sell the plans separately. My ship is HMS Surprise, Dan's brig is the Syren, and Don's topsail schooner is the Pictow. We hope to do another fleet sail this year with some new guns deployed. Stay tuned......

  • The black pearl!!

  • Does this version of the surprise have 28 guns?

  • @MrRuski96 Well yes and no! I have 16 working carronades on the port side with closed ports for the aft 3 on the gun deck on each side because you could not get to them. I have two long guns mounted on the bow as chasers. No guns facing aft. The model has ports for a total of 40 weapons including the chasers. If you PM me with your e-mail address I can forward you some photos. RG

  • So how big are your ship models exactly. What Is the estimated size? Do they use drop keels? I don't mean to be a bother, I am just saying what everyone else is thinking.

  • @TheStarwarskid1997 1:24 scale or 1/2-inch to the foot. They are from 6 to 9 feet long. Mine weighs 120 pounds when ready for sailing and yes, we have a 40 pound lead keel that attaches to the ship when making ready to sail. We use a launching cart in order to get them in the water and recover them. You can see the kits and all the related information by going to SC&H ltd. web site.

  • How much do ships that size cost on average?

  • @riggerrogger101 Check out SC&H web site and you will get an idea of the price of kits. Add to that hundreds of hours of work in building them.

  • @formerparatrooper Can I have a link to the website please?

  • @riggerrogger101 Send me a PM and I can link to it. This format does not allow me to post a link.

  • I wish there were more people doing this kind of thing. I can't afford one, but I'd love to see RC ships like this on the water. Those ships are simply magnificent!

  • @Darthbelal Thank you sir. We had hoped to do a fleet sail this year but things did not work out with our trip to MN. Maybe next year we will get another fleet sail in.

  • If i ever get the money, I'm gonna buy me one.

  • Absolutely magnificent! Well done folks!

  • @mahlihla Thank you sir

  • Why don't use real bullets to destroy the enemy ship??? Can always be repared if the holes are small

  • @dacke93 I HAVE $10,000 INVESTED INCLUDING CONSTRUCTION TIME--WOULD YOU PUT HOLES IN ONE THAT YOU BUILT?

  • @formerparatrooper YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES :P

  • with those cannons do you have any wars?

  • @jellybean3264 We have been sailing the SC&H models together once a year, generally in Minnesota. This year we plan to meet in September.

  • Beautiful!

  • @blackmoor17 Thank you.

  • Outstanding! I been a radio control enthusiast since 1975 but recently bought my first radio controled sailboat a ¨seawind¨ and it´s really fun to race it at the locals regattas in Monterrey Mexico.

Some day I will build a scale model, I love the building process.

Congratulations for your fine craftmanship and video.

    Cheers!

  • @rolagzz20 Square rigged ships sail much differently than in line ships, so you really end up with a lot more to do in sailing one of these. Check out the ships available from SC&H--you might get into this much sooner than someday. Thank you for your comments, I apprecaite hearing from you.

  • great video and nice music to it..good job!

  • were can i get these?!!!

  • @mrlegolover1 SC&H builds the kits from Palo Alto California. They are well worth the price of the kit.

  • OUTSTANDING!!! How long does it take to build such a ship?

  • @AlphaCharlyX Thank you, we appreciate you taking time to write.

This ship is a kit from SC&H and I had mine sailing in about 6 months from the original start. Others do a lot more detail work and theirs have taken longer and mine is 70% kit materials which goes fast if you are a retired old goat such as me.

  • Superb video! 5***** Stars+

  • @TallSky Thank you sire. We are having fun and I appreciate your comments.

  • Hey mate!

could you please PM me some links about these carronades?

I would like to know how do they function an how to control them remotely

    Thanks!

  • @aVenezuelanGuy I do not know how to PM the links. If you can tell me how to do it or where to find the link I can send you several links.

  • Where Did The Carronades Come From?

  • G'day Gojira--they are the marvelous invention of the owner of the brig. I now have 16 of these mounted on Surprise and later this spring we plan to have a gunfight. Stay tuned.

  • Simply ammazing. This is definitely more realistic then CGI.

  • G'day gojira--I appreciate it but I do not know what a CGI is. Thank you for your comment. Stay tuned, I will have the guns operational soon as well as new sail rigging that should make things even better.

  • Nice ! I make model sailing ships . Just finished a schooner but its not as good as yours !

  • Thank you but don't get too close to mine, it has some of my ten thumb prints on it too. From a distance it looks good though and I am sure your Schooner does as well.

  • Excellent models & video sequence.

If I owned these models, it would break my heart, having them fired upon!!

    Keep up the good work.

  • Eddie: I have to smile because of course we are not firing any projectiles at all so there is no danger to the ships. The danger comes in collisions which is what happened to us at Lake Minnewaska.

We will soon be able to make some interesting videos with more smoke. Stay tuned.

  • In my former "not" paratrooper days, I was "shot" by a blank, it hurt!!!!

  • Eddie: Been there and done that too! I wonder sometimes how we managed to make it past 60. Have a good day.

  • Thanks mate, I appreciate it.

  • Full broadsides- AMAZING!- well done ALL. Camera work, editing and audio mix also showed effort.
