You can also swap the the W58 and R154 5speed. But it's cheaper to have the automatic built . Whoever complains about auto has never driven a boosted IS300. my 01 turbo is300 is faster than most cars on the road with no lag. There were limited 5speed IS300 released. From 2002-2005. The stock 5speed can barely handle 300-350rwhp. The auto can hold 400 with minor upgrades.

If anyone knew an IS300, you'd know the stock iS300 manual tranny sucks balls and slips. The only way to have this properly is either doing a full twin turbo 2jz swap with the 6 speed tranny swap from a supra or boost the stock 2jz with stock auto tranny. You also don't lose boost when you turbo an auto.

If you're aware. Most IS300's come stock 2JZ-GE... Back when, USA and Europe only had Automatic RWD. But in around 2002, they pumped out a few manuals. Don't be so quick to judge.

Trying saying that when your 6'2" like me and you can barely fit in your car. I love my IS300 but it was designed for Short Little Asian Dudes(with respect to said people). I wouldn't be happy if I had to deal with a cluth in Traffic with this little car.

The Automatic tranny in the IS300 is said to hold 400whp VERY well with a Valve body upgrade but I'm not sure about stock. It's definitely excellent and strong in stock form and espcially after I run Auto-rx through it.

Dont get me wrong the standard is more fun but the auto can build more boost between shifts plus is shifts faster well you do have to put a shift kit on it though. Breaks the tires loose in third gear. Dont bad for a auto.

No. Its proven that they can't. It would take redoing the entire fuel system, valve train, internals etc...Its not as simple as just turning up the boost.

Well they are right. It takes a lot of money to build a 600hp is300 over a 400hp car. One of the biggest cost is a tranny that can handle it. Just a tranny alone will cost you at least $3500(at least!!) To do it the right way. Plus many extras.

First determine your HP goals. Be prepared to spend a fair amount of change as modding these things aren't cheap. Anything less than 350HP it's as simple as slapping on a turbo kit and tuning. Anything more than 350-600HP is highly recommended that the tranny be "buffed up" if you want your tranny to last. And if you want even more, ex. 700+ HP it's recommended to do the 2JZ-GTE engine swap along with the V160 6sp Transmission Swap. This was a very rough breakdown, for more Info visit my(dot)is

automatic doesn't not give you more HP, Automatics can build boost in between gears and shifts a lot faster than manual which is why it's sometimes faster. The reason why this has <400hp is because of the transmission's integrity. It's stock form can hold 350WHP reliably, he however probably has a valve body upgrade coupled with a conservative tune, hence the 381HP. the A650e transmission can hold 600+WHP with VB, sprang clutch and transmission cooler upgrades...

Thank you sir. Ignorance is NOT bliss with all these people crying over the 5sp Auto E-shift. But IMO a 400WHP IS300 is pretty badass for a Daily-Driver, especially for me. I live in a large city with tons of traffic. I forgot to mention in my previous comment, that if you'd prefer a manual gearbox, but don't want to spend "alot" of money, then the 5sp R154 from the MKIII Supra is another great choice, with enough strength to handle ~700WHP. So keep that in mind you potential Is300 boosters.

No, you get less HP from an auto because it`s more steain on the engine to turn, but in a drag race an auto is usally better and more consistant. But a dog box or powerglide would be better in a hardcore drag car.
