  • Still like some of the celtic music-this is also good. Also looking for a good cover of Gavottes (De Trilport and A Fublaines) by Pierre Bensusan with a Martin Carthy guitar style from Pres de Paris like he does. This album won "Grand Prix du Disc" for folk and you have to listen to it. Hope Ms Taylor does a cover of these tunes and puts them on a CD.

  • Great rhythmic drive. You nailed it.

  • if I only had fingernails

  • Hey Macyn, this some awesome stuff. I was taking lessons from Jerry Barlow. He taught me this but I wasn't good enough to get the 3rd part where you move your pinky-finger on the 11th fret/ 2nd string and your pointer-finger on the 4th fret/ 1st string. Could you please post another video and play the 3rd part very slow? It would be so awesome to be able to play this part like you.

  • u play that beautifully... all the best

  • u play that beautifully!! all the best

  • I had no idea Bensusan played this Celtic traditional sort of beautiful thing. I am quite amazed such a young person of whichever gender can play this so perfectly! Well done. I'd love to learn this. I've composed a couple of instrumentals in DADGAD and it's too easy to get into endless dirgey tunes (as is my wont), so I'm impressed anyone can make a merry tune out of it. I adored your Reynardine/ Jansch version BTW...god. Keep it up girl!

  • Lovely guitar playing! Will you marry me? :-)

  • Hey, did you get this from Sam Pacetti? I like his original version, but i love the spin you put on it...

  • I actually learned this version from Pierre Bensusan. I've listened to Sam Pacetti's rendition though and I thought it was pretty cool.

  • @busker12 Yeah i actually originally thought he wrote the song.. I thoroughly enjoy all of his music though... Great job though! I dig it

  • @busker12 His youtube version really doesn't do the song justice because i believe he was playing for some friends in that video but the version on his CD is great

  • Great work !! Really enjoyed this, and very cleanly played. Excellent post.

    Thanks a lot,

    Jim

  • absolutely breath taking, you truly are gifted

  • Hey, that's good! 2008? You should be famous by now.

  • I'm speechless. Absolutely awesome. That's it ;-)

  • this is really well done. good job.

  • really upsets me that a 19 year old girl can kick my ass at guitar

  • a young person who falls in love with the music that made me try to learn to play a lot of years ago (bensusan, kottke... my favourite is renbourn) ... i love also hedges, tuck... emmanuel... but in the 70 for me there was something magic... thank you, keep on pickin', i like the way you play, and may be at my age you'll be happy to see a girl or a boy playing this music :-)

  • Great picking ! One of my favourite Irish Trad dance tunes , along with Toss the Feathers. Keeping that rhythm solid and consistent is a real challenge, I know myself; so bravo to you:o) Thanks for sharing, Jim

  • Do you do anything by Stephen Bennett?

  • Not yet.

  • There are a lot of versions of this on youtube but yours is the best. I love the tone.

  • Very nice indeed. Great technique which took years of dedication and love of the instrument. Charming smile at the end too.

  • this is so good AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

  • wow...amazing :)

  • very nice cover.

i study all of Pierre Bensusan's songs and this one is not the easiest

    nice try

  • your cute and talented!

  • two words. sue heck.....

  • great Pierre work!! Awesome fingerstyling... I'd like to see you « met ta graine d'sel » on it and make it yours... I'll look for it.

  • God thats a sweet sounding guitar! I've always wanted a top of the line Talyor for fingerstyle but sweet! Nice playing :>)

  • I loved that Macyn.

  • Fantastic playing , you kept the lightness this song needs wonderfully.

  • Excellent! I'm impressed.

  • It's Merrily Kissed the Quaker, You take the melody and play 3 chords

  • Great ! Keep on !

  • this video popped up while listening to Pierre Bensusan. What a blessing that turned out to be! ;)

  • does anyone know where i can find an ACCURATE tab of this song, please?

  • Buy Pierre's 'Guitar Book', the accurate tab is in that ;)

  • thanks :)

  • Sorry, that last comment was meant as a reply to someone else's question, not as a criticism of your playing :)

  • this is great

  • Great finger picking!!!

I love your way of finger picking!!!

    Thanks for your posting!

    (^_^)v

  • great ! good job!

    *****

  • absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!! 5*****

  • wow,- you are a very good picking-girl.you play hammer-ons and pull-offs with hightly feeling!

  • dude that's totally disgusting. You can't go up to women and tell them to pick, hammer and pull-off. You'll get arrested. Esp when you say `hightly feeling.'

  • only one thing to say

    OUTSTANDING

  • thats A~MAZING

Pierre is my favorite guitarist, im trying to learn this tune but it's like punching myself in the face over and over again.

    your ace thanks

  • That was lovely and so are you.

  • Great... great... great !! I'm excited again. You´re a very good guitar player. Wonderful !!! Five big planets für you and kind regards, Dieter^^

  • what tuning do you play in?

    you're good looking btw

  • Thanks for the compliment. This is an arrangement by Pierre Bensusan and is played in DADGAD. Actually, I just got out of a masterclass/workshop with Pierre two hours ago . He worked with me on variations for "Merrily Kissed the Quaker/Cunla".

  • @busker12 gade stuff doll weel din ged

  • @busker12 Great playing.. Does Pierre have a book out with this tune?

  • Yes. It is in his book entitled "The Guitar Book."

  • @badabingbangboom Isn't it DAGDAD?

  • amazing!!

your play is just like Perre Bensusan

  • Not even close, but thanks for the compliment.

  • Oh wow. Beautiful. Nice work. Lovely to hear that played so well.

  • Very nice, my fellow Wisconsinite.

  • I am learning that song right now, it looked so easy in the beginning but the constant changes in the simple main melodie take a lot of time and makes it not easy at all!! . Your version is one of the nicest on youtube!

  • I learned this tune from Pierre Bensusan's "Guitar Book." That version is bloody impossible to play...almost. :)

The version you are playing more closely follows the way he currently plays it.

    Well done,

    John ~( ,o)====:::

  • Beautiful

  • This was the tune I was searching for that brought me to your page. I really like the way you play it. Five more stars...;)

  • nice playing! keep up good work!

    jesse

  • it must have been a hard work, its very nice :) byee

  • it's nice good work MM

  • Nice job, I really enjoyed this. It sounds very good.

  • very very cool!! ever check out john butler trio "ocean" and check out some chris smither stuff, you might enjoy it. I can picture you rockin out "caleb myeres" by gillian welsh or welsch not sure how to spell it. anyways keep it up, very very good!!

  • Great job busker12,♫♪♫♪☺

  • nice! I'm not sure I agree that you need to juice up the tempo - (my wife is in the kitchen dancing to this!) - keep up the good work and keep smiling!

  • Really nice work!! Bump the tempo up a tad and make it thump a little bit more in the bass and let yourself go a bit more. Imagine a crowd yelling "Hey" at every turnaround.

  • Great job! I love the guitar work in this! I am unfamiliar with this song though...don't think I've heard of Pierre Bensusan before.

    This sure does sound great!

  • Nice job, and solid on the rhythm, but I bet you could spice it up a it more with more work on it. It sounds great now, but more chords would be killer, like Pierre throws in.

  • I was with Pierre last week. I have changed my rendition of this piece along the lines of your (and his) suggestions. I probably won't post another video, but come and see me play it live sometime.

  • Wow, that must have been exciting. I am registering for Pierre's home seminar in July, I'm sure it will be all and more than I expect. I'd love to come see you play, but I'm a ways away in Nova Scotia. You're fantastic though.

  • ur ge8888888888888888888888888

  • Very good...keep on keeping on !

  • WOW!!! excellent job!!! Makes me proud to be a full blooded Irishman. I really need to get some more vids posted on here as soon as I pick up my new guitar one of these days. keep up the excellent work macyn, you really are a natural.

  • Felicitaciones. ¿Qué modelo de guitarra Taylor utilizas?

  • The guitar in this video is not a Taylor. It is a Petros, model FS (fingerstyle). It has Claro Walnut back and sides, with an Engelmann Spruce top.

  • La guitarra en este vídeo no es Taylor. Es un Petros, FS modelo (fingerstyle).

  • Amazing playing!

  • AWESOME!Regard Laszlo Sirsom Australia..

  • Great work. I'm trying to learn this myself. The transitions starting at about 31 seconds in are a real challenge. Pierre Bensusan's Guitar Book is great. Do you have this book?

  • I don't have his book. I saw a YouTube of him playing this song. My version is slightly different from his version. He's the greatest.

  • It's called Guitar Book of Pierre Besusan. It has tabs for this song and others. Awesome book. Pierre Bensusan is playing at a little jazz restaurant in Santa Barbara and I am going to see him play. Can't wait.

  • Excellent & superb, ♫♪♫♪☺

  • Te la cavi bene con la chitarra. brava!!!

  • Wow! This was awesome!

  • WOW!!! Make me want to move to Ireland in a real hurry!!! Awesome job as usual. I only wish I'd started playing at the age you started. Let me know when you have CD available, I'd like to get one.

  • Excellent work Macyn! You just keep getting better and better. Curious: How long do you usually work on a song before you record it?

  • I have been playing the songs that I have recorded on YouTube anywhere from a few days to afew years.

  • Fantastic, you clearly have great ability and this kind of playing deserves maximum respect. If i could give you 10 i would but alas YouTube will only permit me 5. Keep playing.

  • Pierre would be proud...

    Wonderful playing
