@WeRockHard3211 lol that's a brutal approach, I like EVH's playing a lot... of course I enjoy Page's playing more but EVH has a nice style, sorta like Chuck Berry on steroids lol. I think the 77 Zep boot "Listen to this Eddie" was titled so because EVH made a bunch of anti Page remarks at some point...
Intro to black dog is, yes, out on the tiles. :01 to :03 is, i assume, part of the previous song, which is whole lotta love; after the middle section, instead of the solo, it goes into this.
I think they're both great live bands. The who was more entertaining to see, with keith moons funny faces and pete townshends manic jumping and windmilling... But to hear, I think Zep's better... They would change up stuff live, making shows more interesting to listen to... They're both legendary live bands... Of course Zep's studio albums are better... Anyways, the who and zep are both in my top 3, the other being Pink Floyd...
Ok, we get the point. You're a Zep hater. Now leave us alone...
Every recording they suck live? Have you listened to ANY of their official live albums? (How The West Was Won, THe Song Remains The Same, BBC Sessions). Those bands/artists you mentioned not only don't play fabulously live, but also could only fantasize about having the level of popularity AND talent that Zeppelin has. So piss off.
Oh yah, Than theres Van Halen....bet old eddie wishes he could play like Mr. Sir Speedy Fingers Jimmy Page.....keep practicing eddie, you might be as good as Jimmy someday...maybe your next lifetime......
Hey, I don't browse youtube checking if someone else uploaded it first. You don't have any copyright holdings on this anyways, so what does it matter to you?
I usually check but didn't this time and upped WLL. Glad I found this. Woulda sucked to have spent all the time make video for the audio of the entire show and uploading...
None of us have copyiright laws over it, even Led Zeppelin themself I believe otherwise the upload would have been rejected. I just don't see the point of having the same thing uploaded. Well ours are a little different but the song reamins the same.
None of us have copyright over it, not even WMG. How this matters to me is that the song remains the same, the only difference between mine and your is pictures.
Mine also. Well they weren't vids of it but I used segments so BANG BANG your muted and removed!
The one that pissed me off the most was my Christmas Band Rock Off vid. A chance to vote for the best band. The Zep segment was from Song Remains The Same.
To be honest, I don't know, got this from some site or another, don't remember what. All I remember is the date of the show and where it was. Glad you liked it!
:) I like anything zep, it's decent for 75, but doesn't compare to 72-73 Versions :) Up to 73 they were untouchable and for the most part (with occasional exceptions) perfect live. I still listen to 75 - 80 shows, but it seems like they almost 'slowed down' a bit, like compare this version to the BBC Sessions disc 2 black dog :) Two different leagues I think :>
I agree, they did slow down a bit, the 77 shows were kinda terrible, I saw your Moby Dick Earls Court, Page's kinda bad, but on their earlier stuff they were fantastic, and on a few rare occasions later, they were great, like a No Quarter from this concert that's really fantastic.
Yeah up to 73, bad shows were in the minority, 75 was sorta 50/50 , 77 - 80 good shows were in the minority, but when i say good i mean really fantastic shows, everyone having a good night etc, a famous exception in 77 being the Listen to this eddie, which was absolutely top notch for 77.
and all new york concerts, which were called by some people the greatest concert string of their career, april 10th chicago, for badgeholder's only, june 23rd 1977, the june 26th after listen to this eddie and for badgeholders only, san diego was an awsome show too, houston ("the dragon snake"), destroyer, clevland, april 27th, landover, bringing down the house, (except stairway was terrible, but a fairly good show) and quite a few more were good but i cant remember off hand :)
What we have to remember is 'good' by led zeppelin standards completely OBLITERATES 99% of other bands, and 'bad' is still a show i'd rather go to than any 'good' performance from bands which pale in comparison to the talent and creativity of zep :)
That's very true, but some shows had "bad" performances from Page and Plant. From what I know (not much), Jonesy and Bonham never had too bad of a night. As far as HQ recorded performances are concerned, my favorite is probably Earls Court, Seattle 77 had a great setlist, RAH 70 had good playing but bad setlist, and MSG 73 had mostly good playing but the annoying fantasy footage kept interrupting :(.
Although he collapsed after Black Dog and the rest of the 6/27/80 show was cancelled, Bonzo's worst night was probably San Diego, 6/19/77. He was sluggish the entire set and eventually briefly passed out after collapsing from his throne only to be revived to continue the show. Page's worst show is without a doubt Tempe, Arizona 7/20/77. The entire concert is unlistenable.
i was here. bytheway 'Eddie' is Eddie Kramer,engineer@electric lady studio. the title of boot might've been to imply that 'i did a better job,Eddie'

Most of the bands and artists you mentioned i've never heard of! Probably a reason for that. Van Halen I know but the others sound like screamers!
You kinda remind me of that guy who complained over the popularity of the 02 gig! Can't remember but I think that was Clapton.
Zep are better live than they are in the recordings!

@1overthehillsfaraway
I'd actually like to state that I think Eddie's ability to play fast notes is probably superior to Mr. Page.
HOWEVER, Mr. Page has this thing called SOUL in his playing. It's not just showing off, it's being DIRTY.
And he saw that it was good, said that it was good, and it was good.

At this rate there'll be no more good music videos on youtube...
I don't even know why WMG is being so pissy... maybe they were hit hard by the recession...
