this version is great.whats ever more special is when elvis sang it on stage to joice bova his "girlfriend"in 1973 in michigan. and for the record desert storm happend because the divorce was finalized a couple days earlier and pricilla was in the audience.plus i really think elvis was on coke.

elvis really tried to improve his show 8-74.he rehersed new songs and he really felt he had something more to offer. the show opening nigh didnt measure up so he stayed with the original format. that led to desert storm. cstanchik

It's such a travesty that this rehearsal performance is still unreleased officially. This is easily Elvis' very best studio version of this historic song. As you know, Elvis included the full lyrics of this song in this rehearsal performance. When Elvis recorded this song in the studio in 1971, he left out verse #3.
