Im so sorry to hear that she didn't make it:( She was indeed a beautiful little soul. Im so glad she found you, and that you gave her some quality of life before she passed. Love and empathy goes a long way. You are a special person. God Bless
Very cute indeed. The ponies chased her away from the food and the water. In the end this appeared to be the effect and not the cause of the problems.
It must be such a rewarding job when you can take a case as hopeless as this and turn it around. I hadn't thought about animals bullying to this extent, it's grim. TLC very important, the touch part I think is very healing. Thanks for sharing this heartwarming story and keep us updated please. Nice song by the way. Cheers, Lesley
You have the best job ever. I love donkeys. I have been trying to talk my husband into buying one for a while now. Hopefully she will get better really soon. Keep us posted. Thanks. Beth
`Beautiful little donkey! Very interesting to see you in action.. Gently does it, but that sure is one very fortunate donkey, being treated by you! Please keep us posted as to the progress, if possible.. :)
Jeroen.. Funny that, but 'om' in Swedish could mean 'around' and arm is arm.. so it makes sense in Swedish too.. arms around.. :) Very suitable song, I'd say.. :)
She may have a long way to go, but the legnth of her journey is not as important as the direction she has taken and you have sent her on the right road, mate!
Uh oh! I'm afraid to ask what the blood results showed! I will be sending her all the healing energy I can gather! I am confident that she is in the best of care with you, so it will help to ease my mind. :-)
Jeroen...You are amazing and your love for animals really shines through. This animal is in good hands. Are you a vet? Or what is your specialty actually?
She's a patient little patient! I worked in a live animal unit in Philadelphia for 5 years. Sometimes I wonder why I went into education instead of staying! ;) Thanks for sharing. Love seeing animals on the mend.

A very cute donkey, didn't mind at all with the nose tube. What did the ponies do to it exactly?

How strange that the tube goes in the stomach through the nose and the lungs through the mouth!
So sorry to read that she died in the end! Was it the infection? At least she had lots of love in her last days/weeks.
Marihani 4 years ago
Yes horses' anatomy is a bit weird.
She had several infections, but a neuropathy caused her to get those and to get weaker. In the end she was euthanised.

Oh how wonderful you are!! What a sweet little donkey! How is she now????

Thanks Mari, but I hate to say that the little donkey isn't among us any more.

Donkeys fetch big money here in the West of Ireland. Farmers like to run them with their cattle. They say it helps control parasites?
yellowlabrador 4 years ago
It's true, they eat intestinal parasites (which are species-specific)

The music is by the band "Blof" (from Holland)
and the song is called "omarm" which means "embrace" :)
