  • Based on some of the diagnoses I've seen on here. I have ALL of those things. Dull me down with pills now!!!!

  • my kids crazy and I'm lazy, give me some drugs

  • 07:00 Im pretty sure I had thoughts like that when i was that age. I just didn't happen to tell my parents. does anyone really think he would have killed himself? (or do i need to be medicated?)

  • A 10 year old with bipolar! fucking hell....

  • 10:15 (poster) - must I say anything more?

  • ... "If you're constantly annoying, we can cure you."

    There's a problem here.

  • Give them some weed that shit will calm the down

  • forget pills ... use Shock collars!

  • teenager medicated for being a teenager...

  • "at what point does a personality trait become something pathalogical?" - when the doctor wants another regular patient. sadly it's just as bad in australia.

  • All these kids seem to be smarter than the adults around them.

  • i'm on anti depressents =p

  • i used to want to make my parents see how bad i was hurting when they didnt listen to me, they need communication and therapy not pills

  • i suffer from anxiety without meds i be fucked so i think u do not understand what your talking about and i think too even say anything u must taste the mental illness idiot.

  • Oh I love to see how parents put their children on drugs, just because they f*cked up the parenting of their children...

  • couldnt watch this at all, even the dogs on something. i am from the UK and had the exact same problems with my upbringing, i was slightly lets say a bit more of an extrovert than most kids and i got deemed as having ODD, i was crazyy etc etc do parents not think that growing up is probably one of the hardest times they kids will have in themselves and they react the way they do to things because they dont know how else to react! theyre not fucking crazy, they need a bit of guidance and nuturing

  • this kid is like a robot. That is what medication does to you, it turns you in to a robot without emotions. They turn you in to a zombie.

  • that kid reminds me of ellen page

  • I believe a lot of kids are rushed to be put on medications but there are some who benefit from it. I wish my brother had been seen by professionals as a kid. He is definitely someone who would have and still would, benefit from medication.

  • 10:14 OBEY!!!!

  • Stiupid americans! They will believe in any kind of lazy shit. Superpill - right hehehehehe stiupid nation! ;> DON'T BELIEVE IN MEDICAL CORPORATIONS - THEY ARE ONLY ABOUT MONEY! AND MOVE YOUR LAZY AS! THEY WILL NOT DO IT FOR YOU! THINK LOGIC! (AND DON'T WATCH YOUR TV NEWS - REALLY DON'T - if really need some news better find "RT News" on free dish if you want true facts about World! PEACE!

  • I believe a very low (5%) of the kids diagnosed with ADHD have it.

  • People are crazy today- poor kids! If a kid is energetic he MUST have ADHD, if a kid is either super smart or shy he MUST have autism. Good grief

  • Am I the only person on this planet that antidepressant (SSRI) medication does nothing for? The whole world seems to be talking about how severely they affect your personality and how they numb your emotions. Well, you know what? I felt EXACTLY the same. For 8 weeks on 40mg of SSRI's I felt a bit of heart burn, that's fucking it.

Oh well... I guess I could always just kill myself. Atleast I know there's that.

  • @RedDwarffs Of course, the majority will say, "oh 8 weeks, you need longer than that, and you need to find the right meds for you!". If a medication takes for that two months to have ANY EFFECT AT ALL on a person, then I feel right in saying that it's pretty shit.

  • Haha that kid should just be put down like Old Yeller

  • assburgers

  • Comment removed

  • this kid seems really clever for his age and he knows what he's doing and what he's doing it for (attention) he probably just needs more things to keep his mind occupied because he is smart and once he's done something thats it he wants to move onto something better and interesting and he probably needs more attention

  • Best way to nuture an asberger is to aim his energy at something, preferably something he likes... pinting... music... computers...

Trust me from first hand experience... works alot better then medicating.

  • @tbbw i totally agree, but not with the pinting. drinking is not the answer.

  • i bet this only happens in america

  • @happyguycol Actually, 1 in 5 adults in the UK&NI are prescribed antidepressants. For children, I would imagine the figure to be a lot less, but probably no where near that of America.

  • REALLY???? U GONNA MEDICATE A KID JUST CAUSE HE DON'T SAY GOOD BYE OR GIVE ADULT EYE CONTACT???? if u ask me,,thats what a kid is suppose to do

  • @jescarpita you are FUCKING correct. i wanna find out who this kid is and email him or something to advise him to get off the fucking MEDS!

  • numbing the vibrant children by meds is just plain ignorant. make some fucking effort parents!

doctors who take commissions from pharmaceutical companies won't stop prescribing pills for every bump along the road.

  • Unfortunately the parents may not realise what they have done for another 5 - 15 years.

  • i find this interesting because i have adhd and i was on about three different medications from age 7 til i said enough is enough at 17. all my doctors and both my parents said when i stopped taking the meds that i would not able to function properly at all. but i am 20 now i graduated high school, im at wyotech gettin all A's, i hav a full-time job, payin my own rent and necessities. i believe many of these meds r just a way for pharmisutical companys to make profit off of frankly lazy parents.

  • i like your description

  • so glad Im not a child in this day and age. Pretty sure by these standards I would have been diagnosed with tons of stuff during elementary school. Got reprimanded and told I was too hyper almost every day lol.

  • @TheHongky

You know what, this is a more complex, nuanced situation than you are taking it for. Having grown up with a sibling with mental illness and seeing firsthand what it does to all involved, I know exactly what Hugh's parents mean when they say they fear one day he will kill himself. Say all you want about bad parenting, but those parents are anything but ignorant - and the pain the kids are going through (call it anxiety, depression, ADHD etc) is beyond just a pithy blame game.

  • what are the exact ingredients of a school vacination?

  • I'm glad I grew up before all of this - I would've been a med-zombie. The reason I couldn't sit still and behave? School was too effing boring! The system is making them crazy

  • I gathered from the description that the uploader disagrees with the mess...but this kid is obviously not okay and if the mess help, then I say go for it.

  • I've had depression since age 12 and I've been taking medication since then. I'm 25 years old now and I still have horrible anxiety and depression but let me tell you one thing, if it weren't for my meds when I was younger I probably would have dropped out of school and commit suicide, medication helps regulate moods and behaviour. Sometimes it's very difficult for somebody who doesn't have a mental disorder to grasp this concept.

  • I agree that a lot of children are put on medication without proper assessment when there is no need for them to be on it but some children actually do need to be on medication. If you have a child with a plethora of disorders and is threatening suicide then medication is probably the best thing for the child along with proper therapy and intervention. I'm a daycare teacher, I've worked with children of all ages and some of the medications work wonders.

  • ugh, I take Seroquil and I can't picture me taking it in the morning unles I want to be half asleep all day. Maybe if you have ADD it's another story though.

  • im a 16 year old girl, practically forced on meds.. i dont feel like me,

  • He has social issues because he is a child of the modern world. Boyond that, I imagine he didn't say goodbye because he hates you for what you are doing to him you fucking dickhead. Goodbye would infer that he wishes you well..... I'm almost certain his wishes towards you are very far from that.

  • 3:00-- that kid made me so sad. so what if he doesn't say goodbye when he leaves a room.. it's like hey lets take true feelings and make people be plastic on the inside

  • I bet he was BEGGING to go back to the UK.

HEY, LOUIS! TAKE ME WITH YOU!

  • well what i can say from my point of view is that i have/had ADD and i was on medication. (stronger than ritalin) and it exclusively changed my life for the better without any troubles or side effects whatsoever. it made it possible for me to continue my school education (i was facing the danger of getting expelled on the grounds of troubling behaviour and insufficient effort) drugs are nothing to be afraid of or hate, just something that has to be managed carefully.

  • These ass holes should fry for giving kids and adults these experimental drugs. Horrible how they do this. Why don't they just give them all lobotomies and get it over with. You know these crappy drugs destroy the libido and it can last for years after getting off the drugs. I never took the crap , but I have seen the effect on many. Fuck the drug companies and hacks that push this stuff.

  • This poor kid, Hugh, he is having everything inflicted on him by his parents. You can see in how they speak about him, like they're at war with him. If they persevere then he will at some stage become suicidal and drop out into drugs and so on. Its clear that when he wraps up his Wii for punishment, hes making a statement which is "You want to hurt me? you think im ao bad? look, i feel so bad i will hurt myself", and they completely misunderstand this to be some kind of evil challenge. Its sad.

  • Putting a 7 year old on medication for something he said is child abuse.

Seriously, the mother should be put into a psychiatric hospital. She is dangerous and obviously she's the one having mental issues and reflecting them on her poor child :(

  • Louis Theroux has the best documentaries.

  • So the boy just threatened his parents (which is something a LOT of kids do) and basically got put on medication for it?

Honestly, the boy looks high 24/7 from those medication, he doesn't seem to show any kind of emotion.

  • wow, that mom doesn't seem to understand depression ... and I know several dogs that pee when super excited ... they're DOGS

  • 13:50 - Anyone else think she was going to say he developed 'tits'?

  • He's probably depressed because they make him tuck his shirt in like a tool...

  • Fuck off reddit.

  • lol if you think psychofarmaca aren't the greatest triumph of the 20th century

  • I quite like ADHD drugs i just think there's only a bit of a souicide risk with them not a major deal but one thing when i was youunger on these pills is they may make you loose your personality so really it would have to be a last resort but the doctors should be looking also at what's going on at home both before and during the medication period's trouble with Ritalin in particular is it's highly addictive and can keep children mostly awake when there're trying to sleep

  • lol medication is a made up thing there is no such pills that magically solve a parents bad raising ways, my little three year old brother reacts like stewie griffin and tell my mom all these wierd thing she just need to be patient ands houldnt of opened her legs now she's paying for it

  • I like his documentaries, he should do one in Britain now...

  • such a western view on mental behaviour and general problems, prescribe some pills, make some profits, job done. No alternative ideology even considered most of the time

  • @sonicboomboombox not western, american. I live in Central Europe and here we wouldn't think about taking (so much) pills.

  • @ALLDAYERRYDAYLEGIT you're a lawyer and running for congree, you kind of did kill yourself...................just kidding!

  • You know...MOZART was something of an active, eccentric kid...

I wonder what would've happened to him if he'd been born in this medicated day and age...

He'd probably have all that musical brilliance and energy drugged and drummed out of him and wind up as just another "normal" kid...

What if some of these kids diagnosed with ADHD could. in fact, become another Mozart?

(Ooooooor....what if parents actually, you kn ow, parented?)

  • Hmmm....Its almost like the more I look at the world, the more fucked up it gets.

  • Loose control of his bladder? Isn't it normal for a dog to get really excited to see it's owner and piss on the floor?

  • 01:56 "oppositional defiant disorder" - WTF!

I guess I have have "total clinical bullshit detection disorder"...

  • @jagara1 hahahaha WTF exactly what I thought. that's a new one!

  • You know in the old times, when kids acted out in front of their parents, they didn't put them on drugs they took out the belt lol

  • @andyandcarl or they'd talk and reason with their kids to help both the parent and the child understand whats up....now kids just get drugged for "Improper behavior" which can be anything......its insane

  • no wonder the US has a fifth of the worlds prisoners, im very curious to se what happends when/if they stop taking their meds

  • 05:33 What's up with americans having scandenavian flags?? Are they Swedish?

  • Man I take Seroquel.. I take 100mg a day and I'm 21. And that was really heavy for me when I first started. 200mg for a 10 year old? Jesus christ.

  • Why does it have to be bi-polar? Maybe he's just an asshole.

  • The doctor seems to have some kind of problem as well...

  • 7:45 The dog- they don't run the fucking dog- wow.

  • 6:25 THAT kid needs to take up some sports or go running or something- look at his pops sitting there as big as a duplex.

  • I think the parents need some medication....the kids only need a bit of attention and fun in their lifes. Gosh i am so sorry for this kids....and the dog.....even the dog is on medication.

  • @SuperVroni80 and don;t forget that the daughter is the only one not on meds... its just a matter of time before she gets on the PILL TRAIN

  • So...you can't even have mood swings in puberty anymore. Sad thing.

  • fucking bitch parent should get slapped and taught how to parent, fucking whore

  • Fucking parents want their children to be quiet, sterile, goody two-shoes.

  • omg, they even medicate the poor dog...jesus christ!!! He lost control of his bladder...in other owrds, i was so busy with my naughty kids, that i forgott to take the dog out and eventually he peed himself...terrible!!!!

  • @OnitsukaTiger1511 Funny, I wanted to write nearly the same but my english is crap so I tried to translate via Internet. Then I saw your comment and just liked it.

True, pretty dumb biotch. This is the reason for our damn fu**ed up(ped?) world. Greets from Europe/Russia.

  • OMG, disorder this bipolar that...jeez! these kids are just naughty and need a slap on the butt from time to time to realize, that they are not the Alpha Dog but their parents are!

  • i love Louis Theroux but anyone who uses the term 'feminazis'......no just no

  • i want some drugs

  • OMG I WANNA KILL ALL THOSE PARENTS, WTF!!!!!

  • @mafiamitzy I know it's super messed up, but those people are just desperate. They want to see their kids better and they don't know how to help them. It's sad really. I feel bad for them and their poor kids.

  • I´m scared at how lightly that family takes those medicine

  • What the fuck, that first kid doesn't even look like a kid, he looks like an adult, they drugged all emotion out of that boy! That mother is fucking stupid! Kids are suppossed to be hyper and annoying, thats how kids are! Drugging the fuck out of him and telling him he has mental disorders, thats what will fuck him up!!

  • @mafiamitzy 100% agreed!!

  • I've been on many different kinds of meds since I was 7, and yes I think they've made me worse I can't even function without being on some type of medication.

  • I will marry Louis Theroux!

  • When I was kid I was very hyperactive and even violent. But I never went to therapy or got medication and I turned out fine! If kids novadays act like I did they get huge loads of meds. So the times have truly changed

  • this kid might be a genius

  • This guy is the best journalist I have ever seen or will prob ever see.

  • some medications really do damage when a person's an adult, after taking large doses as a child. Also, many of these problems that cause medication to be taken are in our food preparation. These kids are eating nothing natural anymore, everything's factory made or pumped with chemicals. That's why autism is so big nowadays, if you want to fix the problem start where it begins, because asperger's and autism and ADHD aren't going anywhere until that's done

  • I would LOVE to know how many of these kids had mothers who used a book called, "On Becoming Babywise" with them...or did a similar type of mothering even if they didn't use that specific book...It's sad that when kids are angry rather than trying to figure out "why" they are angry our society just wants them to stop acting angry and will drug them to get that done...Any baby who was raised according to the book I mentioned would have a good foundation of anger...

  • "oppositional defiant disorder" is a new one for me. Not heard that before. In other words he doesn't always do what he's told. DRUG HIM IMMEDIATELY!

These dumb fuckers have their dog on anti anxiety meds. Only in America.

  • Another Louis Theroux documentary? Holy shit.

  • Louis Thoroux is Where's Waldo

  • @TheHongky

Great description mate, I stopped the video to read it haha. I particularly agree with the feminazis part, I feel the same way.

  • i can't control my children so i'll let the drugs do it for me! yay!

  • on Tv i always see those shrinks asking hundreds of dollars an hour, is it really that expensive in amerika?

  • @FreddyClapton Yeah, here in America it really is that expensive, and can easily be more expensive.

  • hey guys just saying its hard having something mentally wrong with you and it does need medication or you can seriously hurt yourself or others (in some cases) so its not the parents fault (unless theyve been abusive which can cause mental health problems) i cant say much about a 7 year old being depressed but i have bipolar disorder and was diagnosed when i was 15 so i take medication and its hard being the way i am but im dealing with it

  • Not ONE of these children should be medicated! Its rediculous.

  • @dilwich123 so what do you recommend?

  • @prospect4800 Diet, discipline & education for 90% of them and maybe just maybe the other 10% might need medicine but America needs to take a long hard look at the way they just hand out medicine to patients without just cause.

  • Dumb crackers, raise your children.

  • @paulandj alot easier said than done dont you think?

  • They say the girl at the end is diagnosed with "oppositional defiance", aren't the definitions for both those words the same thing? How is that a medical condition when almost all teenagers are being affected with these hormonal swings. Some really weak parents here who are far too happy to drug their kids.

  • @thecompfox defying something doesn't always mean your opposed to that thing... not really.

  • How bout drugging parents for yelling all the time? These parents talk about how disorderly their kids are and how they end up yelling at them often etc, don't these disorderly conducts just reflect on how poorly parents raise their kids? Drugging them seems like such a lazy option.

  • Apart from having an uncanny ability to get people to trust him and to open up to him, he has a great instinct for topics.

  • The dog pees on the floor when greeting them, it's called submissive urination, quite a common problem in dogs and one that can be cured without medication.

Ugh, some people just want the quick, easy solution to their problems.

  • what a nerd that last minute

  • psychiatrists and psychologists are the dumbest fucking people on the planet

  • . the school sytem is fucked... they make parents think their kids have ADHD when in reality the school system is fucked and does not offer proper education for hyper children that get bored easily... it's not ADHD... they are faster thinkers... they can't learn on the same level as other students... my mom has a masters in childhood psychology... i know this to be 100 percent facts... doctors are fucked.. when parents think discipline will work they create more problems then turn to doctors

  • has anyone taken the ADHD test... it's 100 percent bullshit... seriously... ADHD is not a bad thing... Mozart would have been labelled ADHD... same as Einstein... they didn't take fucking drugs... society is wrong... most of the smartest ppl in history... and the greatest exploreres all had more energy and charisma... it's not fucking ADHD you ass holes ADHD it does not exist... i'ts made up to dumb down the smarter faster learners... school is too slow and boring for these fast pace thinkers..

  • fuck they are bad... they can't even train their dog to not pee so they fucking drug the dog... these ppl make me angry

  • this kid is not and never was suicidal.. bad fucking parentss... gawd, if he wanted to kill himself he woul have done it... it was just for attention , which the parents were probably giving him too much attention in a negative way for acting up or not doing good at school. bad parenting is a major proble these days... they turn to pills because they themselves do not know how to be proper parents

  • Oh fuck that doctor. I would say goodbye to him or look him in the eye for sedating me.

  • you don't 'grow out' of adhd.

  • @TheMylittletony

of course not, because it doesn't exist.

  • @TheDrumbaccy you must have a phd in psychology

  • @TheMylittletony correct

  • Louis theroux is my don!

  • I am reading a book called the ultramind solution that goes over how all these "mental illnesses" are all effected by several things. not eating proper nutrition not enough excersize and the need to stop consuming junk food that fuels things like ashd depression ect. It's very interesting can't explain it all right now. But check it out!

  • Jesus Christ America makes me sad sometimes...

  • America's modern culture is so sick. And its only getting worse. They have created an ultra-competitive, extreme consumerist based society saturated by garbage media and propoganda, and then wonder why the parents are disconnected from the children and having had their sense of paternal responsibility and protection beaten out of them completely, choose to solve the problem with yet more big business in the form of big pharma.

  • ''some people do mature out of it'' sums it all op for me, this drugging kids up business is just typical of some of the weird things people do in the U.S so that they can make money...

It make's me sick watching this seeing how the doctors, the whole clinic just to make money do what they do... i really truly believe that's there goal..just look at them how they react on the questions..

  • I have the solution A belt and good manners The U.S is so pathetic

  • I'm 14 so maybe I don't have a valued opinion in your eyes; but " many have symptoms of ADHD" ? Maybe it's because they're children? I remember when I was younger, I couldn't sit still, I was loud, I was hyper. Does that mean I had ADHD? My brother was even worse, he was louder, couldn't stand still, could focus properly... Just because a child won't listen, doesn't mean you should label them with a problem they don't have. Therapy, maybe; but not drugs

  • Drugs help make parenting so much easier!

  • @amdelong but parenting isn't supposed to be easy?

  • ouis's docs are the best!

  • adderal adhd drugs are very simular to amphetamines speed etc. that's why you can have lows and high's

  • Did they ever consider that Adderall(amphetamines, which are well known to cause highs and crashes) can be the cause for a disorder that is characterized by...highs and and lows? Also, who the hell prescribes a drug that blocks dopamine with a drug that antagonizes it? No wonder why the poor kid is zombie-like.

  • lol i like your description

  • Louis seems like a great person to hug. xD

  • @kctwistie2 yeah with barbed wire LOL

  • Its odd that in all these cases , its the parents speaking for the kids

  • I agree that doctor has serious issues, he is tying to prove somthing to boist his ego and doing it at the expense of vunerable people.

  • Louis really makes some of the best documentaries ever. Love the way how he puts himself out there..Very unique the way he approaches subjects.

  • hugh definitely has some social issues. he seems at least mildly autistic to me. you guys might think its cute or just 'intelligent' but it will really hinder him in the long run

  • Louis Theroux is such a superb host.

  • This is incredibly insightful to what I feel is a prominent issue nowadays. More and more kids are being put on psychotropics at younger and younger ages for problems which are just a part of growing up. I feel that the repercussions of having a generation who do not know how to handle their emotions on their own will lead to a dangerous situation for their children and other people in the future. How are people supposed to learn how to deal with emotions if their medications only numb it?

  • weed bruh

  • 8:16 BLANKET FORTTTT!!!!!!

  • "Later, I found Hugh in his bedroom" haha xD

  • 8:11 Wiz Khalifa Black and Yellow Towel

  • 1:40 Hi welcome back xD

  • many of these children just need to eat good food again ,instead eating crappy fast food stuffed with chemicals.

  • When do they talk about divorced parents ?
