just so people are aware, poisonous is not the correct word that should have been used here, venomous on the other hand would have worked much better, poison has to be ingested to have harmful effects on your body, venom on the other hand has to be injected into the blood stream, which is exactly what spiders do.

@AlxMar5 No. Squeezing or grabbing it like a beetle is much worse than flicking it off. That spider doesn't want to bite if it doesn't have to. They know insects always try to fight back, so they are careful about the size of the bugs they eat. So the spider will not want to get a bad reaction from his hand if it was to bite it. They bite as a last ditch effort to survive, and that's usually being squeezed in some way. Other thing that provokes them is messing with their eggsac.

To this whole Brazilian Wandering Spider vs Funnel web, I know the BWS is certainly more agressive, where as most spiders try to advoid conflict (waste of venom) the BWS has been known to chase after people (so is the Black Mamba of the spider world - a git). Personally I would rather stay well clear of both.

@AlxMar5 No. Squeezing or grabbing it like a beetle is much worse than flicking it off. That spider doesn't want to bite if it doesn't have to. They know insects always try to fight back, so they are careful about the size of the bugs they eat. So the spider will not want to get a bad reaction from his hand if it was to bite it. They bite as a last ditch effort to survive, and that's usually being squeezed in some way. Other thing that provokes them is messing with their eggsac.

To this whole Brazilian Wandering Spider vs Funnel web, I know the BWS is certainly more agressive, where as most spiders try to advoid conflict (waste of venom) the BWS has been known to chase after people (so is the Black Mamba of the spider world - a git). Personally I would rather stay well clear of both.
Fun fact, the venom of the Black Widow is really only dangerous to humans, for some reason we seemed to have evolved in such a way it could kill us, a cat for example wouldnt be hurt

Re-read my post douch, I said the daddy long leg is venomous dude which is different then dangerous. It's teeth are not large enough to penetrate our skin. Look it up. And your comment on it being venomous and poisonous is a simple technicality so grow up. One is absorbed in the bloodstream and one is digested. Big deal dude. By daddy long legs, i take it you mean the Harvestman spider? Which isnt actually a true spider, it has more in common with crabs than spiders (if you get an image of its 'face', you will see that it has little pincer things instead of fangs). Also the harvestman is in no way dangerous/venonmous/poisonous thats an urban myth, its totally harmless and has no toxins what so ever.

This has been proven to be untrue. In the MythBusters episode "Daddy Long-Legs" it was shown that the spider's fangs (0.25mm) could penetrate human skin (0.1mm) but that only a very mild burning feeling was felt for a few seconds.[4]

@ktm066 No its not true. Its a myth. The only reason people believe it to be true is because red back spiders have been reportedly killed by daddy long legs and eaten. Thus since red backs were very poisonous spiders, they made the inference that daddy long legs must be MORE poisonous. That is, however, not the case.

@ktm066 Which daddy longleg are you talking about, first of all? The spider one has mild venom and can't really bite humans, while the harvestman has absolutely no venom in it since it doesn't trap its meals that way. Neither of these daddy longlegs have anything near what you'd call powerful venom.

@h3llokittay It's a myth! E.G. Something that someone hears as a fact but hasn't done any research on. There are two types of creepy crawlies refered to when people say daddy longlegs - Daddy-longlegs (Opiliones) which have no fangs or venom and Daddy-longlegs spiders (Pholcidae) which have small fangs, but there has never been a recorded bite to a human that has caused any dangerous reaction therefore no research has ever been done to find out if it is venomous and/or how strong the venom is.
