I personally think that it's the best recording of the white mass... for now.

Not to sound like basically everyone, but Sofrinitsky has a great interpretation of this piece too. I'm not sure which one does it better for me yet. Sofrinitsky seems a bit more subtle at times, and Zhukov has a bit more clarity and great rhythmic drive.

WHAT ??? Sofronitsky recorded that sonata ?? i'd want some audio proof...

They took the original recordings, cut most of the background static, and made Cd's. In 2 of them, he plays the White Mass. You may be able to find it on amazon or somewhere similar.

he plays black mass on the cd only... he might have played it but never recorded that piece.

@Lukecash12 I guarantee you no such recording exists; I dare say someone has had you on, or has made false claims, attributing a recording of the Seventh to Sofronitsky. No such recoring exists, even at the Scriabin Museum, nor with his family in Russia or here in California. Nor is there ay mention of such a recording in his (asssemble post mortem) biography cum memoir, "Vospominaniya Sofronitskovo"

@Lukecash12 Sorry to correct you, but Sofronitsky NEVER recorded the Scriabin 7th Sonata. He recorded the 2nd (the 2nd, the 3rd, the 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th an 10th You must be thinking of someone else. There is also reputed to be a recording of Sonata 1, too, which has been issued. But the 7th? No way. Perhaps you are thinking of Richter, a recording of whom playing the Seventh Sonata in concert does exist.
