Capoeira is a lot of things combined into one: it's a martial art, a dance, a "jogo" (a game, a dramatization of a fight) and a sport (plain gymnastics), too.

But the goal is that it be FUN. Just look the guys on this video!

And when "capoeiristas" (capoeira players) want to dance inside a "roda de capoeira" (capoeira circle) they don't dance this "The World is Mine" thing: they dance SAMBA DE RODA!

Capoeira is definitely not a simple dance ... I can say is how slaves "trained" possible attacks on their lords, in order to defeat them and get away, or to break free. And more! Capoeira is a fighting style in which you do not necessarily need to hit the opponent to defeat him. It is possible that only moves fastest and perfects, you can win a "jogo".

@xubermanx Hey dude, in portuguese, the official language here in Brazil, the name of this handstand-ish move is "aú de coluna"... In english, i think this may sound like spine aú (to say this last word with portuguese phonetics, you should say "AOO", then the name would "spine aoo"). The name of certain moves and movements can change, depending on the region of the country (Brazil) or the capoeira group that uses, you know?

I don't know the name of it, but I've seen of the better guys in my grupo do it. It's basically a cartwheel where you want your legs to move at the back, kind of a cartwheel with a half twist thrown into it.

By the way, no need to go to Brazil to start, there are groups everywhere, even here in Japan!
