You probably know by now that that bird was not a Currawong. It is a Magpie. Either a female or a youngster. But, I love the behaviour of both animals. Especially the delightful curiousity of the Maggie. Pure Gold! Thanks for posting that.
yeah magpies wont eat your pets, but a hawk will definately swoop down and kill them. So called 'chicken hawks' often prey on peoples chickens they keep in the backyard

I think they need a bigger igloo! The bird wouldn't have harmed your GuineaPigs, he's just looking for insects and grubs.

This happened with me, my baby rat Bambi and a Butcher Bird. I nearly had a heart attack.
I took Bambi inside, then gave the Butcher some raw kangaroo meat (from my cat's food). I felt kinda sorry for taking it's meal...
