What makes Duncan great is that he finds a way to win games. His stats aren't mind blowing, but they don't have to be. People like Aceroy think that a player's worth is judged purely on stats alone. People who know the game of basketball know the value of leadership and defense that Duncan brings to the table. Duncan does the little things to win games such as good passing, footwork and positioning, and defense, things that don't show up on a stat sheet. Little things that are oh so big.

Actually,players of today are stronger,more athletic and there are plenty of tough players like Barkley.Look at Ginobili,Iverson,Artest,etc.Th­e difference is in the way the refs call the game: they don't allow too much toughness and award fouls more generously. Other than that players became more skillful and athletic. Just look at the dunk contest.What would get a 50 10-20 yrs ago,wouldn't even get you to the final round.

Players are not not naturally stronger today they just take more vitamins that doesn`t make your overall natural strength stronger but add to it. Barkle played in a time where PFs where wide bodied 100% and in an era where Centers actually plated. He actually outrebounded, outscored at a with a higher FG% than Duncan at ages 34 to 36 crippled with back and knee problemes and overweight while Duncan was healthy at ages 21 to 23.
