I've only seen one water spout and that was about 10 years ago. I've heard that water spouts/tornados are quite rare in Japan. Really cool that you were able to capture this on film! :D
The rain cooled air on the left pushes the spout to the right and eventually disrupts the inflow killing it. Cool video storm chaser. You will find waterspouts below dark flat bases of cumulus clouds usually in a long line. Look for the tallest stack and that's where the spout will drop out. If there is a spike from the base, there's likely a circulation on the water called a dark spot, hard to see unless you are in a plane.
Glad I could be of service! Crazy...first one I've ever seen. I didn't go full on double rainbow over it...but I wanted to. I just happened to be watching the parasailing person thinking, "What the hell are you doing? Lightning, dude..." and then I noticed what looked like a funnel cloud and ran for the camera as it grew. Pretty cool to see!
Very cool and now I know my co-works weren't on drugs.. Hahaha.. I was actually working near the beach area you can see to the right of your video and I missed it... (-_-) Thanks for posting the vid.

i'm curious as to what the waterspout looks like from below the surface of the water?
probably like the whirlpool in a sink draining water, but upside-down?? O.O

@fenderchick1977:
Your video is very good and nice quality.
You were lucky to catch the waterspout forming and touchdown on the water.
(the kids are a good soundtrack for the background audio!)
I just saw a double rainbow this morning here in Okinawa. But they were not brilliant color nor complete.
Many times if you see one rainbow there might be a second very faint one there too, or a partial of it.
This type of summer weather provides many chances for rainbow viewing.
