  • I suggest all read a book called Being Different by Rajiv Malhotra.

  • Awesome work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So what good is sanskrit closed captioning in roman script at the bottom? It is not doing anyone any good. A translation would be better appreciated.

  • Comment removed

  • The words feel so familiar and bring me such peace & comfort ...although I have never heard them before.

  • Ur born in a particular situation, to get rid of your previous impressions, once that purity has occurred, it doesn't matter where you cum from, but I know many lives are spent in purifying your intellect, mind and body equipment. Ppl who go prematurely will face failure and maybe rejection!!!It is good for you, coz ur still not ready!!

  • whenever i need balance i always listen to vedic chants.I balances the three part of Guna which is rajas, tamas and sattva....And you dont need to be brahmin to learn or use Sanskrit. I am not brahmin.its the work of miscreants who want to deny India the chance to learn its own culture,,,

  • i like one thing about our BRAHMANS, they never neglect their duty..others like me go about slouching at work

  • How close it is in meaning and sound and words to our dear Avesta!

  • I have always been enthralled when I listen to the mantra pushpam in temples. I want to recite it myself as it feels so good to do it. It is priceless. Thanks for the upload with the lyrics in English. Best wishes.

  • Veda Scriptures have literal and hidden meanings. literal meaning is simple, but hidden meaning is not easy to reveal for an unguided seeker. My dad used to say always, only a good Guru can light up your path to the deeper meaning in Vedas.

water is mentioned in every stanza of Mantrapushpam; I understand it as 'Water' is the source of life. Even science has established that life orginated in sea.

  • I have insatiable thirst for listening to 'Mantrapushpam'.

  • try a iskon center in your country, they are allways very helpfull and have a

    lot of books too

  • All true Brahmin encourage Neti Neti, the denial of all things until you may prove a thing. As such, they do not exclude anyone based on where the soul chooses to renew itself. They understand there is no 'different' location on this earth.

As to seeking out guides, this is not necessary. Seek, Knock, Ask. You can do much without anyones guidance. If you become stuck, a guide will appear at the appropriate time and may take the appearance of anything in 'reality'. Bhodi's are not limited.

  • can't thank you enough for posting this! God bless, namaste

  • Lovely.

  • ALL Vedic HYmns and chants gives a person a lot of power and mental peace, so its very good to you even if you listen to it...i heartly thank and appreciate the person who has posted this esteemed video...

  • learning has no bounds no religion,no cast,no creed,no race.......learning is all about interest

  • @amn3h23h2 : i am a brahmin...and i dont think any brahmin would reject you cause of ur religion or nationality :)

  • if i went to india to try to learn sanskrit and the vedas/bhagavad gita, would the brahmins reject me because i'm an american? i don't want to be disrespectful or insult them, so i thought i would ask around before even considering going there

  • @amn3h23h2, Brahmin is brahmin by virtue of knowledge and qualities. A true brahmin will never reject anyone who is genuinely interested. If they do, its good for you (you got rid of one fake brahmin). Having said that, I think there are ample texts on internet to self learn important hindu concepts. You may begin with that.

  • @314159265352 language teaching in america is mostly text based; i would much prefer something based on oral tradition, since the vedas were only spoken for centuries. that being said, of course i'm researching what i can online, and i even bought a couple books on sanskrit. but i can only take myself so far.

  • @314159265352 Oh please - don't let him learn the pronunciation from the Internet. It's hard for us Indians to pronounce those words!

  • @314159265352 This kind of glib tripe is why inculturation and outright theft of Hindu dharma is happening. Westerners are untouchables plain and simple; their very low birth precludes them from being allowed to study the Veda or even do (proper) Yoga. In fact, that is why no westerner is a real yogi; they are drowned in mere asana which is body (ego) centric. The Vedas can be studied only under a proper guru and by dvija males (Indian Hindus).

  • @amn3h23h2 From My personal experience being in India..as long as you have genuine interest, you will not be rejected. India is the best place to learn Sanskrit or Meditation etc..being there makes such a difference...amazing. Feel free to send me a personal message if you need further info. Many blessings

  • @amn3h23h2 ,

if you are really serious there is ISKCON in new york

  • @vamsym ISKCON is watered down vedic religion at best. they don't encourage learning real sanskrit or interpreting things in a way different from their dogmatic ideas of what things mean. for some reason, they claim krishna is the supreme name when the vaishnava tradition that originated their ideas claims that krishna is a specific form of the true lord vishnu (or one of his other 1,000 names). plus, they try to incorporate jesus, but they discourage reading the bible (see the contradiction?)

  • @amn3h23h2 ... i am very happy to know that you want to learn the ancient scriptures.. I am very sure you will find some one who can teach you... In my opinion, any one who pursues divine knowledge with devotion is a Brahmin and is thus fully qualified to learn the scriptures.... You can also search gutenberg project for Ramayana and Yoga Vasista in English... Good luck Sir..

  • @amn3h23h2

i'm a brahmin, i served in the USMC. did they reject me? no. i don't think anyone would be rejected if they were interested in vedic aryan traditions.

  • Padmanabha: Brahmin will not reject, if you learn Sanskrit. Brahman are open to others to learn to Sanskrit but don't disrespect the what u learn

  • @amn3h23h2 : namastey :) .... i dono who told u that but u will be welcomed to learn them but all they say is be pure while ur practising lik .... be away from alchohol, smoking dats it and keep belief in the things ...dats it

  • @amn3h23h2, If you do your groundwork of identifying right Guru, you will never be disappointed.. Good luck !!!

  • @amn3h23h2 In hinduism there is a famous saying "Sarvaejana Sukhino Bhavanthu" which means every living thing or living being should live in peace and harmony and hinduism never said "hindu-a-jana sukhino bhavantu" the reason why I am telling this is that you have mentioned that you, If you come to india and wanna learn vedas nobody gonna stop you. all you need to do is when ever you say or pronounce the words in vedas should be clear and never be miss pronounced.

  • @amn3h23h2

if you go with a pure heart will get a real teacher if you're just out of curiosity or emotions get anything you want to learn the Vedas without making a mistake doing the ashram of Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi India, Bangalore, there are servers and there avatar find fellowship, truth and love but go no internal luggage om sai ram

  • @amn3h23h2

  • @amn3h23h2 In Sanskrit there is a saying "brahmajnaneti brahmanah" meaning, he who has the knowledge of Brahman (The Absolute) is called brahmin. He who rejects someone, who has a thirst for knowledge is himself devoid of knowledge. So do not feel dejected if someone rejects.

  • @amn3h23h2 Also there are plenty of ORGANIZATIONS working in INDIA which teaches HINDUISM in a proper manner.... You can find over INTERNET and go over there.... They do not discriminate.... Lots of westerners are there....

  • @amn3h23h2 Well...to be honest ...It wont be easy... Not because they reject you or anything. its just tough to find a good teacher. The problem comes when you question too much, not because they dont like to answer, but when you keep questioning the answers you get, you will end up with a final answer which you dont like and the worse thing is you have to believe its right. Its important to find good teacher. Learn as much possible over the internet and if you think you could crack it, wc.

  • @amn3h23h2 Brahman is QUALITY and not by birth

  • @amn3h23h2 No way. you will never be rejected. may be you will be asked to follow their way of living.

  • @amn3h23h2 : a Brahmin is not a person , caste ,its a position , one can attain it ,irrespective of who he is ,or she is ,there is a method to become a brahmin ,if one knows one of the Vedas, one ithihaasa ( Ramayana or Mahabharata ),one purana (out of 18 ),one vedanga ,he is known as a Brahmin - This is according to the knowledge that i received from a person called Pradeep Shastry .

  • @akky88ful by knowing these you mean that one has read them? or that one can teach them? surely a brahmin doesn't have to be able to recite the whole mahabharata... or maybe they do

  • @amn3h23h2 yes they shud know all the verses; A Brahmin is one who is always thinking about Parabrahman The creator ,So he has to know ;its very easy to learn ; if u dedicate a fair amount of time to it ;i am sure even u will learn it ;

  • @amn3h23h2 A lot of people from the US, Europe, Africa , China , Japan, Russia and other countries are learning Vedic scriptures . Anybody who is a sincere seeker of the truth will be attracted to the Vedic knowledge and is welcome to learn it .

  • @amn3h23h2 yes u can learn what ever u want to learn dear ...as many of your frnds are also learning here

  • @amn3h23h2: They teach Sanskrit at most of the Universities around India so you do not have to learn it from a religious teacher. They won't subject you to the same rigorous lifestyle and schedule as they did to William Jones (the philologist) in the 18th century who wanted to learn Sanskrit (give up eating meat and waking up at 4 am, among other things).

  • @amn3h23h2 You are an untouchable and thus you will not be accepted by any authentic Vedic pandit. Those who claim to "accept" you will do so for a fee which is already dubious to begin with. There is a reason you were born outside of India in a very low birth (westerner). Through many lifetimes of tapas (penance), you can pray that you should be born as a human in India and then work your way up to be able to learn the Veda. It would be an insult to Hindus if you tried to study it.

  • This is truly amazing. What wonderful words. I am so glad you have added an English translation because I am not Indian, but I feel so attracted to the Hindu faith. Is this from the Vedas, and when was it written? I just wish I understand the true inner meaning of what is being said.

  • @wen2110

Please search for the website 'celextel' on google and then from the home page, navigate Vedic Hymns->Mantra Pushpam. You can find the translation for this hymn and many others too. I tried to post the link but youtube wouldn't allow.

  • @wen2110

as to when was it written, no one knows the exact date, because the oldest written literature of the vedic scripts that exist and not destroyed by islamic invaders were 3000 BC, but there's a catch- the vedas also mention that before being written down, the knowledge was passed down orally for hundreds of thousands of years. I know... the modern textbooks would disagree, but that's a whole different story. just trying to answer what you asked.

  • @emperor0989 my dear frnd da veda might not be destroyed by radical islamist when dey invaded but dey do destroyed science of vedas by destroying NALANDA university

  • @pachhi0da0heck

the first strategy of islamofascists and christians is to destroy the existence of the older civilizations. Nalanda was a part of it.

  • Great job!! I've searched on iTunes for a good and clear chanting of the Holy Mantra Pushpam. None of those are as clearly recited as this one. I mean no disrespect to anyone here, of course. Thank you!!

  • We are blessed to hear and chant along Sri Mantra Pushpam. Thank heavens. And also youtube..

    A Vijaykumars

  • Great work.Very happy to hear the Vedic rituals sasikala

  • I am drawn to these hyms like a thirsting man is to water.

  • @1awareness great articulation. I concur.

  • oh thanks 4 upload this mantra .....

  • Thanks for such a nice post .. we are grateful to you..

  • beautiful to the heart! thank you for sharing this.

  • excellent !! hari om tatsat !

  • interesting thing about vedic hymes is that they always ask some or the other form of energy god (agni, vayu...) to give something..this video also start with request to become "prajavaan" "pashuvaan"...our ancestors always wanted to possess something. i wonder whether the energy created through these chants ever helped then getting what they wanted?

  • Thank you for this outstanding video. It is easy for people to comment and give criticisms, but very difficult for them to actually do anything. Keep up the good work. The world is indebted to people like you, who take the trouble of making our ancient culture accessible to the common man.

  • @najoosiclub, Thanks for your kind and encouraging words.

  • hindu hindu ek rahe, jath path me nahi bate.

bhasa anek hua to kya hua, dil ki bhasa ek hone chahiya. har har mahadev

  • many thanks for that peaceful music..the spirit the vibe is so mighty!!!!

the Allmighty save you for your kindness!!!

  • I FEEL PROUD! JAI SANATAN DHARAM

  • superb

  • I just want to end by saying that I support DEvanagri script 100%..... but we must know the history..... One reason for lack of very ancient Devanagari manuscripts is "Invasions".... lot of scriptures were destroyed .... Hindu scriptures survived only in remote regions like Himalayas or Tamil Nadu/Kerala/Rajasthan/Maratha regions etc........

  • One more fact..... the current critical edition of Valmiki Ramayana was only published in early 1900s by cross checking them at various palm leaf manuscripts ( none was complete, there were some differences) in Devnagari (Varanasi), Grantha (Kanchipuram) , & old Maithli script (Janakpur, Nepal) .....

Traditionally the scholars used to transliterate all the scripts at Varanasi.....and send one copy to different regions of India....this was the historical practice.....palm leaves are there...

  • so best.......

  • beautiful

  • This is an absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing mantra! More importantly though, it reveals the ecological significance and the reverence the learned vedic people had for the elements of nature.

  • Great!

    I even recognize some words:

Veda means "to know" not only in Sanskrit, but also in Russian: ведать. Same for "fire" (Agni): агонь.

  • @kardashevscale3 yes ... please check my video about Veda Slavena (Slavonic Vedas) that survived baptism in Bulgaria: watch?v=YupKdzGeAQk with short descrtiption...

Rg Veda in Slavonic (Savic/Sabic/Shivait) language also means "Reg, Rek" as "sentence, "to say a sentence" and Veda as "knowledge"

    "Vedati as "know things..."

  • @kardashevscale3 Varuna as "Swarun" (in Swara - Swarga - swastika - heavens - galaxy decoration with 4 sleeves) Variti in Slavic(also Wendic) means "to boil, under high temperature - milk, - Milky way" (Heavenly cow of Zimun; in Aryan Shivait(Savic/Slavic) Egypt - 24 000 BC known as "Mehet Weret/Varit (Mehet = "flood", Nile in the sky or Milky way -Maat - russian Mat' - mother and Slavic "goddess" mother Mokosh (flood)

Ptah as "Ptach" (a bird, phoenix), Horus as "Xors" (Horovod) ...

  • @kardashevscale3 "Mantra" means "to make something with effort".

"Matrati se" ... yes "Agni" means "fire" агонь. (in my Slovene language as "Ogenj", Aganj...

Vishnu as "the one who is high" (Vishji - also "Vishja" - the "cherry tree as his sacred symbol to our ancestors") and Shiva as "Zhiva" (alive - life giver/soul giver through incarnation...)

  • @kardashevscale3 "AUM" or "OM" means also in our language "mind" :)

Yahwist (Asura's / Osiris's / Naga) perversion known as "El-ohm" (el as plurality of Anunnaki - the fallen ones - Asuras)

  • The Secret!

  • wonderful! thanks for the upload!

  • Does anyone know about DR. Steven Greer's Disclosure Project?

They go out in the desert and recite vedic prayers and manifest orbs of energy and photonic energies. No idea which chant but would be interested in figuring that out.

  • @rcacad

Yes, I heard! I also here it comes at a high price.

All Vedic chants draw in Energy's, it's very beneficial to learn Meditation and chants, Learn on online for free! practice at home. Seek Guru also.

    Namaste.

  • Can you recommend a website for learning?

  • @Donkwoon

learning what? The Vedic Aryan meanings or the history of the civilization? I know a few websites and some great articles.

  • @rcacad YEP SAME HERE

  • @rcacad Dr. Steven Greer sucks.

  • Can someone translate this for me? :)

  • Hi,

There are tons of sites where you can get literal meaning of these slokas. The author is trying to answer "what is the source of water". He goes from fire, wind, clouds, stars, and then he says, he who knows the real source of water becomes established in himself....

This sloka is written with a background understanding of "churning of the ocean", hindu philosophy. 33 chapter of yajur veda.

  • Please see description of this video. It has lyrics with meanings.

  • Thanks immensely for the hymn as well as the translation. You have done us all a great favor. God bless you.

    NRI from Los Angeles.

  • 2 of 2. He represents Vedic simplicity and high role of spiritual for society's benefits, but he needs your support for subsistence and maybe family maintenance. If he is late, don't lose temper, since Vaidikas are fewer, while their demand is high and commuting problems severe. I say this because right spirit is essential for all karmas to be beneficial.

  • When employing a Vedic trained Braahmana, for performing divine karmas (poojas, for ex.) or pitru karmas (shraadhdhas or Tarpans, for ex.), do not treat him as if he is a coolie to be paid for his "work".Do not try to correct him, saying the other Brahman used less/ more mantras, for ex.! Compensate him maximum, not per "market rates".

  • @lsjtifo hahahaha.. that's quite right and funny.

  • @lsjtifo I am A Brahmana and I know how difficult it is to memorize these hymns and recite them in precise text dictated manner. The words cannot be misspelled at any cost. Not a single word. Years of practice and dedication only helps in attainment of this sacred knowledge.

  • @lsjtifo

Well said, we should treat them with respect, then only can our Vedas regain the prestige that they truly deserve!Tthe right term is Shraddhaa! well said again shrimaan Thanks for the mantram and your positive comment.

    Regards

  • Google chrome browser is download enabled, FYI. This browser is now easily downloadable, takes just a short while to install. You may download it by going to Google homepage.

  • Hello Harish,

There is a simple solution. You can configure your real player downloader to download all .flv files from the youtube. This way, you can pretty much download all vedic matras from the internet. Now isn't that great!

    Cheers,

  • Look, sticky rod at least this way all of us could read it.

  • it would be nice if the commentary had been made in devnagri scirpt the script in which hindi and sanskrit are really writtenand understood-isit too much to ask tohave script of our holy scrpture to be used?please.

  • Point Noted. It is not too much to ask. I have used Devanagari script in my recent videos. I will plan alternate version of this with Hindi/Sanskrit script as subtitles.

Thanks for watching and for your comments.

  • @sticky4rod

oh boy...you really want everything, don't you? be grateful to him for this...

  • @sticky4rod ,

I appreciate your views..... but just pointing out that use of" DEvanagari only " for Sanskrit is after 1956 only...... Brahmi is the oldest script which is the originator of all Indian scripts..... Vedas were written traditionally in almost all Indian scripts depending upon the region......

Most of the versions of ancient scriptures are in Sharda script (used in HImalayan regions at one time........close to Devnagari). In Sanskrit only the "pronunciation matters"

  • @anant14 Correction: Brahmi is the script. Sanskrit is the language. Sanskrit adopted the devanagari script in 4th century AD (following Panani's grammar rules). While there were many schools of thought on Vedic interpretations, there is no ranscription of vedas in other scripts... unless you refer the above video and say Vedas were written in English !!! Please stop regionalization of culture.

  • @ponugups ,

Ofcourse , DEvanagari started since 4th century......but it became standard only in after independence......If you want original manuscripts of "Tatitriya Samhita", Agamas (any), most Upanishads, the Ramanuja's commentary on Gita, VEdanta Sutras (oldest copy) they are in Grantha or Sharda scripts......both of them are not used now!

  • @ponugups ,

It is not regionalization but a fact that most of the original scriptures are in Siddham (Nepal /Tibet regions), Sharda (Kashmir , when it was Hindu) or Grantha ( all South Indian Sanskrit writing including Shankaracharya was in Grantha or Telugu/Kannada before 1900)........

Even Swami Vivekananda wrote his Sanskrit poems (original copies) in Bengali script......you can verify all this....

  • @anant14 ,

It is not "Regionalism ".... I am just stating that all Indic scripts have to be studied if you want to access Sanskrit ancient manuscripts !..... and Hindus have been using their mother scripts for reading religious books since long !

I am humbly stating all this because most people don't know this...... Most Indic scripts have the same 51 letters

....they are just written differently....even scripts like Tamil (33 letters) have additional letters to write Sanskrit (grantha)....

  • I have made an attempt to made a video with sanskrit and English. Please let me your comments - Ramesh Krishnakumar

  • This refers to Hiranyagarbha the celestial water. It is the bane of Rebirth as the soul wants to join the celestial param atman It is the duty of the body to train Atman using all the knowledge of the Vedas as it only assures a better rebirth all the time. This is the innate faith of all the Hindus.

  • Thank you, your interpretation is really deep.

At a more simpler level this mantra explains the one-ness in all things.

By looking inwards we will be able to perceive this ... that is the concept of in-dwelling. The vedic and Hindu thinking is conceptually deep and advanced and that is the reason for the innate faith.

  • good job!!

  • thank for uploading it

  • thank you, for the oportunity of hearing/seeing divine heart/fire

  • very very nice.

  • very nice one.

  • Excellent. Hari OM.

  • Great mantra!

  • Thanks for posting it

  • bhavati = he/she/it is, thats what i know so far :D

    just started studying sanskrit.

  • was that from that video on youtube?

    "Mama Nama Mac"

    "Bhavataha Nama Kim?

    Bhavatyaha Nama Kim?"

lol.... that video is actually a good first step into learning sanskrit.

  • When I was in high school, we goto to local Shiva temple for Pradosham. This vedic hymn will be chanted when Lord Shiva is carried in 'pallaku' around the temple, and arathi performed with 5 plates. Listening to it gives freshness and peace. That's a wonderful divine experience. I've also heard this in Flushing temple, NY.

I'm glad I found it on the net. Thanks for uploading.

  • Very precise recitation. Very melodious rendition of the text which is often mispronounced when chanted in group. Avoid literal interpretation of the text. If you don't it will make no sense! As Benzer 26 mentions below, it is a homage to nature and relates that all things around us are in effect born out of the elements. I still do not understand why it is recited after auspicious Hindu ceremonies.

  • Lets take one of those statements:

    For eg,

Moon is the source of water,

    He who knows this,

    Becomes established in himself

How does one "know" this? I mean what is the explanation for this?

Secondly, I have heard this hymn chanted at homams and pujas. What is its significance there? To me, as a lay man, the translation gives the hymn's meaning, that is knowledge. What is the auric effect of this hymn at pujas?

  • Take water to mean H2O. H2 is like the primary substance out of which the entire universe is composed. Hydrogen atom has only one proton and one electron. Oxygen is the fire. When any substance is oxidized it is in effect a burning process. The nuclear fusion occurs in Sun by the fusion of Deuterium and Tritium which are isotopes of Hydrogen. These fuse and form Helium and energy which sustains life on earth. Therefore everything is water. Life started in water. The primordial soup.

  • Thank you for the knowledge, but what does this have to do with the Mantra Pushpam?

This Mantra Pushpam is to aware people that everything we see is the elements. through fire the elements go back into earth as carbon. So what is left of us? only the Atman the Soul.

  • moon is the source of water is the reference to the lunar effect on water bodies. eg the causes for high tides low tides etc. also we know that human body is 75% water and hence due to the change in lunar cycle human behaviour also changes. lunar is where the word lunatic comes from. the significance of mantras are on its phonetics more than its literal meaning. hence it is more important to pronounce it right than understand it right.

  • Can anyone tell the meaning word to word ?

  • perfect quality chant!!!!

  • Masterpiece!!!

The gist of this hymn is that things around us are only illusions and feel real only at a certain level of consciousness. All the matter (electrons, protons) around us is vibration or waves. It is our consciousness that perceives a certain arrangement of atoms to be different than the other arrangement. But ultimately everything is the same. Hence water, fire, sun, moon, heavenly bodies, vegetations and animals are all the same on the micro level.

  • clearly pointing to the very foundation od sub atomic physics, the vedic indian people knew it 5000 years ago..

  • When we realize this we become established with oneself, i.e. we become one with god within us.

  • This is truly masterpiece and it explains relationship between water on one side and Moon, fire, stars etc. on the other.

Iam very much inspired by the people who sang it. and very grateful to the person who has uploaded.

Nobody can compare the satisfaction these vedic chants give when we sincerely to listen to them

  • It i
