@ThePredster it technically is illegal, you cant hit some1 when their on the ground. however its acceptable to hit them as their falling, you might see alot of guys sweep or throw someone from the clinch or after catching a kick then knee them on the way down. as long as its one fluid motion. that guy was 2 late but my guess is the ref saw that that was the fighters intention to hit him before not after he hit the ground

@aslacuentayya yes, traditional matches in thailand let fighters do whatever they can using all parts of their bodies except lowblows, biting etc the usual pussy shit ones. Its brutal i know, and sometimes isn't all that fair but its the name of the game the other fighter should have sensed him setting him up. but as far as muay thai is concerned that was a clean and effective hit.

I wonder why there arent more really high level muay thai strikers in MMA, if you can develop a takedown defense good enough to keep the fight standing.

I see alot of fighters that claim to train in muay thai...but none of them are even in the same universe as the guys who do muay thai only.

Of course the stupid UFC rules that dont allow alot of the elbow strikes or blows to the head on a downed opponent are part of the reason...most of the rules cater to wrestlers and bjj guys, its biased.
