  • Loser!!!!!!

  • TIE KNOT DO!!!

  • Why don't you wash your belt?

  • @8zVioletz8 Back in the day, there were only white belts. As your belt accumulated sweat, dirt, grime, blood, etc. the color would get darker to indicate more experience. Now we just use dye for belt ranks, but the tradition sticks around.

  • how long is the belt??

  • @Girtud333 My red taekwondo belt is 280cm

  • Thanks! Now to just watch this every time before I have TKD and memorize it.

  • wow, now i know why grandmaster hwang is about to kill me when he sees my belt ends uneven -__-'

i can only imagine how many times he's hated me and said nothing lol =P

  • Yay!

  • @nltkdacademygander That information about why we don't wash our belt is really great. I hope it helps others understand the symbolism of the black belt in another way. Thanks for sharing!

  • I don't know where not washing your belt comes from. I'd really rather not have people show up to my classes with a belt they've had for 10 years and never washed...

  • @nltkdacademygander If you want to know the tradition of Taekwondo it is supposed to mean that washing your belt is like washing away your hard work and training. The belt's tears and dirt, or anything represents your dedication and hard work with your belt. And nobody is going to have the same belt for 10 years without at least being promoted to the next belt. That is why people do not wash the belt. Hope i helped!

  • @nltkdacademygander well hopefully they won't have the same belt for 10 years :-P

  • it would help if you wouldnt talk fast

  • @NATERTATER38 Sorry about speaking fast. I've lived in New York too long. :)

  • thank u so much!! :)

  • 3:30 nice and tight =D

  • THANX

  • nah wtf rocks!

  • Thx so much ! :D

  • relax man.. this one is for beginner like white belt.. and the person who just get to yellow belt. and because yellow belt is a dual binding. they don't really know how to tie it..

  • @ZEN824 All belts should be single wrap and not double (like karate). Its to symbolise a lot of things but in general one art, one strike, one master

  • ya it is but i refer to use dual binding because it is more tough and more durable to withstand my tough training. after all single binding can't really stand when your body pulled by the belt. and another reason of using dual binding belt is you can self defense yourself against a knife and even sword when you are master to it. if you using single binding, then you can reflex it but you can't catch it because it is too short.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH for this tutorial!!! I've been trying to get around it for weeks and didn't get much help from the other vids that I looked at. But now, I've finally gotten it!! Thanks again!! :DD

  • Nicely done. I liked your video very much so thank you!

That is how I learned to tie my belt in Karate too - my 8 yr old son and I train together in TKD and he loves it!

  • @blazer1321 i've seen the old version i like the better one more though.....so u do TKD and hapkido or just TKD???

usually when u train in TKD it's adviced to train in Hapkido too:D

  • @SuperMagicRocks just tkd however i would like to expand on my martial art knowledge

  • @blazer1321 yep than hapkido is really good to go along with man

You should talk to your aster and ask him if he has expirience in Hapkido or something.....Hapkido is a self defense form where you use techiniques to protect urself

  • @SuperMagicRocks that sounds intresting ill try to look into it

  • @blazer1321 yep tell me how it's gonna work out for u:))

  • @SuperMagicRocks k thx

  • but there are still some dirt, for example if u accidentally fall on mud or watever, ur belt will hav tat stain or dirt there.

  • O.o...fall on mud with your Taekwondo belt? You're not supposed to be playing with your belt outside the Dojo anyway. It's disrespectful to wash your belt and/or play with it as a toy, specially around mud or dirt. Your Taekwondo equipment should literally be holy, so is the Dojo, hence we bow before we enter or exit.

  • i didnt say tat i played wif my belt, it's just tat some ppl i see train in the forest like those koreans, so the belt will sometimes be stain, besides i respect my belt alot, i keep all my colour belts, frm white all the way to my red without the colour tips removed

  • Oh alright. Yes, you're right, but still I did not blame you mate, but yeah, it sounded like I did. However, I wonder if these korean kids ever fall man, they are machines :P

(There's one thing I'd like to thank you for, and it's the respect you've just shown, even though I sounded like I was blaming you, you politely explained back and made your point clear. It's always nice to see good people on YT. It's all Taekwondo manners I guess ;) )

  • maybe taekwondo manners, but i learn to respect comments even though its nasty or something, nice to noe u too, ur equally polite as me, dun come across so many ppl in YT like u too!

  • we dont bow b4 entrance and exit xD

    maybe u do...but we dont

  • i think washing your belt is disrespectful

  • same here. my sensei says if you wash you belt when it's dirty, you'll wash away all your skills. he also says if you have a colored belt, your gonna fade it.

  • this video is very helpful in giving me an idea, however, this method does not work with my particular black belt.

  • ok but to much talking overall a good tutoring vid

  • I do wish people didn't use the term TaeKwonDo as an umbrella term when it comes to things like this. If anything this video should be called 'tying a WTF TaeKwonDo belt' as all ITF TaeKwon-Do belts should be single wrap only and therefore cannot be tied as per demonstrated.

  • sorry for the stupid question but what is itf and wtf can u tell me

  • THere are two main types of TKD, ITF and WTF. To much to explain here, look it up!

  • ITF rocks :)

  • wat i heard was tat if u wash ur belt, ur disrespecting it and tat u so called dun deserve to be in tat level, but who cares, i wash my black belt anyways to prevent it frm being dirty

  • @exodia94 the belt is black. u cant see the dirt

  • Anyone Out There In UTube Land,

Why Is It You Don't Wash Your Belt? Just Curious Lol!

    Meitaki Ma'ata

    Julius Tetevano

  • i have learned two reasons. first, it fades it, and that washes away the skills you have sunk into the belt.

  • @juliustetevano , dont wash the belt because the wear and tear shows your experience....

  • Thanx alot about to take my yellow belt test and this finally got me tying my belt properly

  • me 2

  • i wash my belt...no big deal

  • thanks alot im just a white belt i started tkd 1½ months ago and i didnt know how to tie it right so thanks

  • the vid needs less talking and more demonstrating

  • this is ok, but u should go into less detail. we dont need to know that the bellybutton is also called a naval, or the center of energy. nobody cares!

    -TKDkat101

  • Yeah I have had the same black belt for a long time now and they start out stiff and become nice and a loose and feel allot better (just like the uniforms). Although i have an easier way which is faster and gives the same effect.

  • She talks too much.... thanks thou

  • i have a easyer way i just may make a video..

  • i know, right? this lady should just get a life and leave it to the experts!

  • well the way she dose it is the correct Taekwondo way of tieing it im just saying theres many diffrent easyer ways but make sure when u knot it u do it the correct way

  • Thank you for this! I have a four-year-old in tae kwon do, and I struggle with getting her belt tied properly. This helps tremendously!

  • nice demo mom!!!

  • Kalynna, nice vid but you should have done this with a WHITE belt instead. It is more visible. Everybody here in Youtube do it with a black belt and it is confusing because of pleats and shadows. Besides, most people who do not know how to tie it they are beginners therefore white belts.

  • Really sucks when you get a belt thats two small for this though... lol.

  • This video is the most usefull and efficient tutorials of 'em all on YouTube and it works , I tried it because I was always messing with it .

  • funny how she says it's one of the most difficult thing the martial art student has to learn. maybe if you have a foreign instructor like herself. but if you in korea, they make you work your ass off.

  • the thing that i hate most is that once the belt is nice and worn down, you get a new one!

  • HOLY SHIT! I TAKE KIM'S MARTIAL ARTS!

  • thanks for that video

  • Ok, here i am reading the comments when i read people thinking it's not important how the belts look. Well, it kinda is, if you tie your belt wrong, it gets in the way of your execise's. And thanks to this, i'm not going to be yelled at during my belt test.

  • @spartanjohn1200

LOL I'm not going to get yelled at either now xD

  • @spartanjohn1200 also, i've kind of picked up on a relationship between presentation and skill. i dont mean for that to sound shallow, but it seems like the people that care more about their presentation, care more overall. Thats not to say showoffs are the best, but i mean the people that demonstrate respect and courtesy (by personality, but also towards the sport and art with their uniform) presumably have more effort invested in their training and understand the concept better.

  • The belt is important uckushtar, martial art's is about discipline and tradition, not just combat and fighting, but then again you're probably some young punk who can't comprehend something of that sort....so what am I wasting my time for.

  • "young punk" who is 23 and has trained in martial arts for over 12 years, and is a certified instructor. How good you look during training is useless, what you actually physically and mentally put out during training is what saves your life. Stick to ATA style taekwondo - it's obviously what your interest is in. Just so you know, when martial arts started it didn't have tradition, it continually evolved to what it is today, effective control over mind and body is what martial arts is about

  • Thank you so much for this very informative and helpful video. I'm a white belt and always struggle in tying it, but not anymore- thanks to you ma'am!

  • ose

  • "Its one of the most difficult things new students have to learn"..... is she on drugs? tying the belt is nothing compared to the training itself! jeeeez

  • Thank you very much for the lesson. My belt always seemed to fall off the way i used to tie it. =)

  • You don't wash it because the fabric will start to rip or wear off, if you do.

  • Thank you so much. I finally master it now. Thanks for teaching me how do tie it like this.

  • To*

  • please stop talk and just show how to tie

  • Patience is a virtue. Practice your perseverance by suffering through the talk.

  • strange....i tie mine a little differently, but i think i'll use your technique, looks cooler.

  • @kalynna63 lol zorro u got owned

  • @kalynna63 lol tying ur belt doesnt have anything to do with patience

  • @kalynna63 that's too much perseverance for anyone on youtube

  • It's ONE taekwon-do, ONE master and ONE punch. It was Choi words. So your belt is tied incorrectly, it MUST be tied one time around your waist:)

  • Every taekwondoist I have ever met anywhere in the world (and that's many) ties their belt twice around the waist. Not once.
